"Anti-Russian hysteria in Europe is greater now than in Nazi Germany!" (Sergei Karaganov, Russian political scientist)

MECHANICALLY TRANSLATED FROM ROMANIAN

"Donald Trump's return to power may indeed be a turning point, but Donald Trump faces very strong opposition among the US elites and will have to survive politically and physically. But, indeed, he wants to make America great again, and to do that he must withdraw from a war that America is losing."

Russia needs to destroy the moral backbone of Europe, which has been leading the world to another world war for the last hundred years. The Europeans are desperate, they are crazy, and I think they are the real threat. We do not want to occupy all of Ukraine, God forbid. Ukraine was a huge burden in the Soviet period in terms of subsidies. We do not want to repeat that. But I think Russia needs to reunite with the Russian provinces and have a demilitarized region, a buffer zone that encompasses what is left, what will remain of Ukraine.

But the problem is not Ukraine, it is Europe, where the elites are desperate, they have lost everything they were aiming for, and now they are leading their countries to a big war. It is incredible what is happening in Europe. It is worse than before the outbreak of the two world wars. The anti-Russian hysteria is greater now than it was in Nazi Germany.

Russia is not a threat to Europe. Russia does not need a junkyard. Recently, one of the EU officials said that Europe is a garden surrounded by a jungle. I was one of Russia's experts on European affairs and I spent a lot of time in Europe; I can say that Europe is not a garden, but a jungle whose vegetation grows on the soil nourished by the millions of people that Europeans have killed and robbed over the last half millennium. The US is withdrawing from Europe, and Europe will no longer be able to do what it has done for the last 500 years. If the US withdraws from Europe, those Europeans who are not completely crazy will understand that they cannot rely on American nuclear guarantees.

Europe has come to suffer from a form of "strategic idiocy": they are no longer afraid of nuclear deterrence. That is why I tried to convince the Russian government to strengthen this nuclear deterrence. Our future American partners understood this. The Europeans are not sane and they did not understand. I hope that in the coming months they will understand that they are staring into an abyss and trying to prolong the war by sending more Ukrainians to die, and then they want to send Eastern Europeans to fight. The European elites need this war to cover up their mistakes and failures.

I think that if the US withdraws from Europe, those Europeans who are not completely crazy will understand that they cannot rely on American nuclear guarantees. These guarantees are very weak: I am a historian of nuclear strategies and I know that since the 1950s the US has not wanted to use nuclear weapons to defend Europe. And Russia does not want to attack Europe. Why would we need this peninsula of Eurasia, where we are the largest and most resource-rich country? Talking about a Russian invasion of Europe is not just hilarious, it is downright disgusting.

Our goal, Russia, is to eliminate Ukraine as the spearhead of the West. To eliminate it as a threat, not as a state. The second goal is for Russia to undermine its neighbors who have turned into enemies of Russia. We must destroy the backbone of this Europe. We are no longer interested in Europe, Russia's European journey is over, it lasted too long, 130 years longer than it needed to. Now we are saying goodbye to Europe. Naturally, from a cultural point of view, Russia is partly European and holds dear, as Dostoevsky said, the "sacred stones of Europe".
Russia does not want to occupy all of Ukraine. We only want the purely Russian regions. These are the regions of eastern and southern Ukraine, which produce 70% of Ukraine's GDP, because the most educated people live here and the USSR and the Tsarist Empire invested the most here. The four Ukrainian regions and Crimea are the minimum goal.

Then, there should be a very large, totally demilitarized zone, controlled by the Chinese, the Arabs, others, it doesn't matter. Another goal could be to recover all the Black Sea provinces that were part of Russia from a cultural, political, but also economic point of view. But, in the current conditions, it is better to have a demilitarized zone and the four provinces, plus Crimea. The best solution remains what is east of the Dnieper and southern Ukraine. But it can be expensive, both in terms of sacrifices on the front and in terms of reconstruction.
