I went black tail Deer hunting in the Sierra Nevada Mountains the past couple of weekends, next weekend being the last. I also have a Black Bear hunting permit. Haven't had a shot yet for either Deer nor Bear but there are plenty of Bear tracks about. The motion cameras we've mounted have many recent pictures of large rack bucks (no, not nearly as large as the video) and a couple of large Bear; even a Momma with two cubs. FYI, shooting cubs is a big no-no. I hunt with a Browning BAR 30-06 w/ a Leupold scope.
I have plenty of enjoyment just being there, good friends, good food, good beverage and very large campfires. :D:D

Ahh....nothing like walking in the woods in the Fall... and campfires... and seeing nature... just love it. :D:D
.....how brave of you both. Deer don't shoot back.

I like to look at it as important practice time :shh: and, if you haven't had the pleasure of tasting Organic Venison Tenderloin, Venison Stew or Roast you are missing out on one of the finer pleasures of life, IMHO. I suppose Venison is not Kosher, perhaps that's why you haven't had the pleasure.
QuoteI suppose Venison is not Kosher, perhaps that's why you haven't had the pleasure.
.....killing a predator/parasite is different from killing a noble stag. Or perhaps its not kosher for you to pick on animals that can't fight back.
You sound very ignorant, mgt, preaching like a typical tree hugging/liberal/socialist/communist. How's that Agenda 21 working for you? Hunting and eating your kill is an ancient tradition and a literal means of survival. If you eat meat, then what makes a male Deer with antlers more noble than a cow with horns, a chicken with feathers or a fish with fins? You are anthropomorphizing and, yes, I would eat my dog if finding nourishment were that desperate and a stray cat (the neighbors cat too!).
So, please stick your judgmental attitude up your rectum and preach to your own choir at the next PITA meeting.

.................perhaps treehugging yes.
...........deer are not domesticated. They are a forest animal. Cows, Pigs Chickens etc etc are. Or perhaps you are suggesting that 7 billion humans should all go out and blow away wild animals like Victorian Africa safari. Your Victorian attitude is ignorant. Qualify your argument I've presented mine.

Well Mgt23, hunters are some of the best people to look out for "forest" animals these days. This isn't the 19th century. Hunting, like farming or rock-mountain climbing, (mountain biking and motocross) is really special...it can't really put into words properly. Venison is good food. I love nature and I love hunting. I'd love to go to Canada or Montana for Elk hunting but I can't get away for that (and fly fishing too). :(
