Of all nations in the world, I feel Britain has gone through the most monumental changes in terms of personal privacy and the intrusion of the state. From nanny-statism in the 90's through to veritable thought control in this new century, every month brings some new legislation that further erodes the rights of the citizens... er... subjects in the UK. Quite how this totalitarian legislation proposes to deal with the huge number of existing pre-pay mobiles is beyond me. Even if they get that under control, there's always foreign pre-paid mobiles that can be used in their place... as long as the SIM cards are not from Italy, where such registration requirements have been in place for a decade or more.
