Prof. Tipler's 2007 book The Physics of Christianity analyzes the Omega Point Theory's pertinence to Christian theology
Christian theology
Christian theology is discourse concerning Christianity faith. Christian theologians use biblical exegesis, rationality analysis and argument to understanding, explanation, test, critic#critique, defend or promote Christianity....
. In the book Tipler identifies the Omega Point as being the Judeo-Christian
Judeo-Christian
Judeo?Christian is a term used to describe the body of concepts and values which are thought to be held in common by Judaism and Christianity, and considered, often along with classical antiquity Greco-Roman civilization, a fundamental basis for Western world legal codes and moral values....
God
God
God is a deity in theism and deism religions and other belief systems, representing either the sole deity in monotheism, or a principal deity in polytheism....
, particularly as described by Christian
Christianity
Christianity is a Monotheistic religion #Christian view religion centered on the life and teachings of Jesus as New Testament view on Jesus' life....
theological tradition. In this book Tipler also analyzes how Jesus Christ
Jesus
Jesus of Nazareth , also known as Jesus Christ, is the central figure of Christianity and is revered by most Christian churches as the Son of God and the Incarnation ....
could have performed the miracles attributed to him in the New Testament
New Testament
The New Testament is the name given to the second major division of the Christianity Bible, the first such division being the much longer Old Testament....
without violating any known laws of physics, even if one were to assume that we currently don't exist on a level of implementation in a computer simulation
Simulated reality
Simulated reality is the proposition that reality could be simulated?perhaps by computer simulation?to a degree indistinguishable from "true" reality....
(in the case that we did, then according to Tipler such miracles would be trivially easy to perform for the society which was running the simulation, even though it would seem amazing from our perspective).

Thanks for posting Mgt23, this is a very important angle to look at.
Like that SuperStruct thread, it seems a lot of Hi-Tech areas in the USA (Palo Alto CA, Austin TX, MIT Cambridge, MA) incubate Zionist (Wired Magazine- Futurists - Technologists - Phyicists - Sci Fi - Matrix ) types hell bent on corralling Goyim away from Faith in God and just plain simple living.
Kurzweil is just a "lucky" member of the tribe that produced semi-decent software at the height of the tech boom and was bought out. While his inventions are notable, his "futurism" is fairly sophmoric and stupid like the "prophecy of Zionism" behind the eschatology of modern murderous Israel. Will "god" create a modern state in Israel backed by him for the generations? I think not. Will the Judaic Futurists control it all? No, they won't since the science behind these "Omega" theories is not that good to begin with.
Nice job in identifying their ultimate "Fantasy". Sadly, there are likely a lot of well funded believers in it too.
Philosophy isn't a subject I ever liked --but out of necessity take into account. Modern philosophy seems like extreme mental masturbation to me and all of it nihilistic in principle. It's the circular apprehension of futility and nothingness weighing against the drive of humanism, humanism being the last bastion against oblivion. The end of Futility, is Futility --like the movie "War Games" --or as you point out, CSR, the "Superstruct" thread which fosters another idea of limited survival. The other concurrent threads dealing with nihilism suggest it will provoke a "reactionary" response and its all about channeling and controlling that response.
So, the games like Superstruct, are probing the collective mind?
...want to add something...
The penultimate meglomania would be approaching the omniscience once ascribed to God. The ancient Gnostics held this all to be Unknowable and man's spiritual destiny was simply to return to this Pristine Unknowableness. I equate science with gnosticism, gutted of its "irrationality" (unknowableness), so the overarching objective is to BECOME this --to literally BE God, by gaining god-like omniscience. Human vanity can't enlarge on this one --it IS an endpoint.
Along the way, the gnostic concepts became the Humanist/Luciferian philosophy (danged if I really know anything, but trying to work this out) through a shared idea of life as "hell on earth". Over time, materialism, mechanism, and scientism worked on this "rationalization" of the irrational Unknowableness-- attained by quantum physics. And what has quantum physics brought us tangibly? --the unequaled power of life and death, nuclear technology, the closest things imaginable to Omnipotence...very scary. Playing God and all that, but closer than ever to BEING God.
This fearful scenario in the hands of mere mortals is a literal machine for FEAR generating. In our hearts, we now know that science and technology have been allowed to run amuck and fling us into this life-and-death crisis. Short of actually DOING these things that Futurism implies, is the advantageous Fear of doing these things, which is what Kurzweil, Tipler, et.al represent. Just believing it might happen is where the energy comes from. Nihilism isn't new, of course, which is why we respond to this Futility of Abstraction with loathing.
The psychological reflex is Toffler's "Future Shock" --in the confrontation of more and more defined choices to be made about what to believe/decide/condone/or dismiss, we retreat into a shocked state of unresponsiveness, or less responsiveness than we had before being confronted with all the choice. It's a pretty slick game. When we don't roll over and die, we rally and seek out a point in the past (reactionary) in tune with the last understanding we could maintain before the chaotic break with reality.
...this making sense?
Pardon my rambling --is there a philosopher in the house? I'm trying to reconcile Omega Point Theory with Nihilism and I can't do it.

For Tipler the Omega Point is an Artificial Intelligence Supercomputer that is a googol. The key word here is Artificial.
No humans needed, humans being roboticised transhumanised. Borg. etc.
aka Nihilism
Cosmologist Frank J. Tipler - a recognized professional peer of David Deutsch and Stephen Hawking - has effectively established the mathematical probability for the emergence of God in the far future to a 100% certainty. But the OPT relies on a critical condition: the Universe must eventually collapse into a black hole singularity.
the word is Black hole...................................... his god is an artificial intelligence god that arises with that .
QuoteNo humans needed, humans being roboticised transhumanised. Borg. etc.
Thanks, blueocean, that was helpful! I wasn't accounting for the AI-- just looking at the physics which are sublime. So, the point here is that the technology is already in hand or merely "in sight"?
I'm aware of at least limited advances in alternative biology --constructing lattices with silica, replicating DNA-- though I still can't wrap my head around centralizing Infinity (not!). It is conceivable to me though that a new chemical matrix can be brought into existence, thus altering the properties of "communication" with reality as we know it. If we consider the energy qualities of "consciousness" arising from the physical structures of chemistry, then I'm speculating that changing the chemical basis of life is comparable to a Dimension shift, governed by a new consciousness.
I'll make a last point --buying into the idea that THEY would actually DO this, or could do this, is hook-line-and-sinker Nihilism.
thats because you haven't met one....
If they be "meme-machines" carrying a certain meme then this "meme-machine"" will try to clone this meme like a machine.
yup, its kind of inevitable unless a neutralization meme can come out of nothingness. That is my latest research.

Well it isn't that inevitable hehe...................
the neutralization won't come out of nothingness.......................
