Radicals or Humanitarians? Understanding the Flotilla

Earlier this week, Israel intercepted six ships seeking to break the blockade on the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip. The Israeli Navy boarded five of the six ships without incident.  On the sixth ship, the Israeli forces were brutally attacked, leading to a deadly confrontation. The main organizer of the flotilla, the Turkish Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH), is a member of the Hamas-created Union for Good, an organization outlawed by Israel and designated by the United States as a terrorist entity in 2008.

In the aftermath of the incident, Israel has been called "a terror state" and the event "a massacre." But who are the groups behind the flotilla, which repeatedly ignored Israel's warnings? How can Israel balance efforts to prevent Hamas' military build-up while facilitating assistance to Gaza? Is there really a humanitarian crisis in Gaza?

Please join us for a special conference call featuring David Horovitz, editor-in-chief of The Jerusalem Post, who will address these and other questions. Mr. Horovitz, who took the helm at Israel's largest English daily newspaper in 2004, previously served as the editor of the award-winning Jerusalem Report magazine and has authored several works of non-fiction.
