Atlantic City Police want to know who's responsible for hateful graffiti discovered Labor Day on a boardwalk pavilion.

Swastikas and racial slurs were found Monday morning on several columns in the pavilion, which provides shade and benches for people on the boardwalk. It is located at Columbia Avenue in the resort's Chelsea section.

Detectives took photos of the vandalism. Police were notifying the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office about the incident.

It's not clear if the graffiti was intended to target anyone in particular. Public Works employees were expected to paint over the markings later in the day.

The painting of a swastika — that dark, ubiquitous signature of hateful vandals everywhere — is no longer automatically considered an act of anti-Semitism under new guidelines for recording attacks against Jews announced this week by the Anti-Defamation League

"We know that the swastika has, for some, lost its meaning as the primary symbol of Nazism and instead become a more generalized symbol of hate," said Abraham Foxman, the ADL's national director, who was a hidden child during the Holocaust in a statement. "So we are being more careful to include graffiti incidents that specifically target Jews or Jewish institutions as we continue the process of re-evaluating and redefining how we measure anti-Jewish incidents."

My impression about that swastika "news"--If any one out there has some no-name piece of real-estate or run-of-the-mill commercial advertising needing some quick easy public/media notice--then go dribble-scribble some dumb swastika graffiti on it.

What wastes more tax dollars...ass-warming cops eating donuts...or investigating swastika graffiti!?
