Britons Arrested on Gaza aid ship

Rashid Razaq

A LONDON photographer today told how Israeli authorities boarded a British yacht, took down its flag and "almost strip-searched" its crew as they attempted to break the blockade of Gaza.
Vish Vishvanath, 36, from Twickenham, was one of nine people travelling on the British-flagged catamaran Irene, which was carrying medicines, toys and water purifiers.
He and another Briton aboard, captain Glyn Secker, were taken to Israel and deported.
He said the vessel had been "hijacked" in international waters and surrounded by about eight boats whose crew trained
machineguns on them. The Israeli troops took down the British flag, he said, "which is something you're not supposed to do". At Luton airport this morning, Mr Vishvanath said hi camera gear and phone had been confiscated.
Israel imposed its blockade three years ago to starve Islamic militants Hamas of supplies.

1. Isn't Secker a Jewish name, was he a "righteous Jew"?
2. Note the final paragraph reference to Hamas "Islamic militants". Even the skewed wikipedia isn't quite so abrasively biased:
