Footage aired of Israeli soldier 'dancing round blindfolded Palestinian woman'

The reputation of the Israeli military has suffered a further blow after a television station broadcast footage of a soldier appearing to dance around a blindfolded Palestinian woman.

The clip, originally posted on the video-sharing website YouTube, shows an unidentified Israeli soldier gyrating around the female prisoner as she cowers against a wall. Fellow soldiers are heard hooting and cheering as he brushes up against the woman, whose hands are bound.
The footage was aired on an Israeli television channel on Monday night, prompting immediate condemnation from officials in the Jewish state.
The Israeli army promised to launch an immediate investigation.
"The IDF (Israeli Defence Forces) condemns actions of the kind presented in the clips," the army spokesman's office said in a statement. "The clips do not attest to the norm but, rather, only to the exception from the norm." The footage came just six weeks after the emergence of photographs showing another Israeli soldier humiliating her prisoners.
The Israeli military was forced to apologise after Eden Aberjil, a reserve officer, posted photographs on the Facebook website of herself in uniform striking a series of provocative poses beside bound and blindfolded Palestinian prisoners.
Ms Aberjil defended her actions, insisting that they represented "something that happens every day in the army."

One need not be a prophet to be aware of impending dangers. An accidental combination of experience and interest will often reveal events to one man under aspects which few see.
