QuoteA study says the disposal of Israeli nuclear waste in the Palestinian territories is leading to toxic emissions and warning of an eco-disaster.

In his report, Jaber al-Tumeizi, a Palestinian researcher and the coordinator for Palestine's farmer union, warns the toxic waste from Israeli industries would lead to gradual mortality and eco-disasters among the Palestinians due to toxic gases it emits.

Israeli factories in the occupied Palestinian territories of the West Bank, near the southern Palestinian cities of Tulkarm and al-Khalil, pump their swage into Palestinian areas, causing virulent diseases there, the report added.

Tumeizi criticized Israel's 'intentional' transference of its chemical industries to places adjacent to Palestinian towns and cities, describing the move as an 'unethical means' of confronting the Palestinians.

Dr. Mahmoud Saadeh, Palestinian Representative of the International Committee against Nuclear Warfare in Palestine, recently revealed Israel annually buries thousands of tons of chemical waste in Palestinian territories.

Saadeh claimed the landfills do not meet international standards and are aimed at an ethnic cleansing of the Arabs in those areas, 'like what happened in Bir Seba'.

The Arab city, which once served as an Egyptian military base in the 1948 Arab-Israeli war, was occupied and annexed by Israeli forces in October of the same year and was soon packed by a large population of immigrant Jews.

The reports on Israel's secret chemical and nuclear landfills near Palestinian cities come after an Israeli court ordered factories near Netanya and Kfar Saba to be shut down for posing threats to the environment.
