Latin referenced this gentleman (trying not to judge here) in a previous thread.
http://www.thomaspmbarnett.com/biography.htm

I first came across him in Matthias Chang's Future Fastforward, read the Amazon reviews of his book, and just watched this short presentation:

http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/thom ... peace.html

I've also watched or listened to a lot of his 2 hr. 40 min. presentation on the Pentagon's new map from 2004. I captured the audio and made it into mp3s to listen to in full.

Here's the video:
http://tinyurl.com/597z92

Here are the mp3s I made:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/78s10s
http://www.sendspace.com/file/vhebxo
http://www.sendspace.com/file/d64hou

I'm sure he's sincere and he probably believes he's a good man with benevolent intentions, but I desperately want to wring his chicken neck and bash in his smug face.

He essentially admits that security has usurped defense, and that force can and should be projected anywhere that doesn't integrate with "free trade" practices. In other words, he takes what those of us who know about deep history and flat out says it's a great thing that the military works for Wall Street. That's borne out by his work as a strategic consultant for the so-called Y2K project with Cantor-Fitzgerald (CEO one "Lucky" Howard Lutnick), which included bona fide war game scenarios run "atop the World Trade Center." He brags about how when the towers fell (well, really kinda atomized in mid-air) their scenarios "went live." In other words, it was the New Pearl Harbor needed to justify dividing the world according to his paradigm of the "functioning core" and the "non-integrated gap."
http://www.thomaspmbarnett.com/pnm/map_index.htm

Basically, any entity that does not adhere to the rule-sets of "free trade" is targeted for regime change and nation-building. On a global scale, this is exactly the nightmare scenario of global predator forces roaming the world whacking anyone that doesn't fall in line with the way the ones with the biggest guns define it.

There are many more subtle and complex implications of what this, ahem, individual espouses that I cannot articulate without ranting, so hopefully other members will take a look into these materials and discuss in more detail.

I'm placing those mp3s in my iPod for further closer listening and hope to have more observations to share here soon.

There something I am missing. I agree with you 100 percent but there is still something that troubles me with my view of th current political situation.   Maybe you can help me see the light? Who is in control of this scientific thing which gives Barnett his data?   The data readers are a special caste in the new system. Anyway thanks for the information. Dl right now.

These are notes I took for people to see what it is about if they don't want to watch it

- - - - - -

Strategic Thinking in Complex Environments – The Military in the 21st Century

-business, military and government strategic cooperation
-instability and crisis in the interconnected world
-Military and government -> government and private sector and America and the world
-ruleset of 1920 similar to 1990s
-economic rulesets races ahead of political rulesets, technology rulesets raced ahead of security rulesets in 80s 90s
-New Rulesets Project focus on globalization
-thinking about the future of was within the context of war and everything else
-global war on terrorism within context of spreading globalization

-quick history of 20th century:
--1890-1929, Globalization I fails with economic system stress, led to creation of WWII
--post-WWII, reorganization of US govt, new ruleset, create CIA, NSA, defense, IMF, World Bank, UN, NATO, Marshall Plan,
--from new ruleset Globalization II set in motion
--global triad: North America, Japan, Western Europe
--post-87 crash, new globalizers aka 'emerging markets', Globalization III
--Berlin wall comes down, collapse Soviet empire, new stresses
--94 Mexican pesos crisis, rapid climate change, computer viruses, catastrophic terrorism

-new ruleset put together to prevent global war of previous ruleset of Globalization I
-financial panic/crash every 13-14 years in the USA, where new blood uses same ruleset of lying cheating stealing to create same result, and then ruleset reset [so he claims it's the new generations fault for not learning from previous... laughable]
-what could be a catalytic event coming down the pike that would crystallize a sense of rulesets out of control where lots of new rules would come in its aftermath, looking for event impact political and security fields, first looking at Y2K but the event was -> 9/11 [the event needed to bring in the new ruleset of imposing globalization and NWO]

-everyday wall street journal, new york times, Washington post covering new ruleset reset for definitions of criminal behaviour, un American behaviour, war
-before 9/11 needed changes, so since 9/11 establishment has been filling in the ruleset gaps, such as the patriot act, pre-emption strategy, in comes Globalization IV
-WWII greatest problems in world economy were Germany, Japan and Soviet Russia, plan was to wait out the first two and buy out the third
-the amazing dream was that Germany and Japan would be so pacified we would never have to worry about them again and that Soviets would collapse under weight of its own contradictions and join Western ruleset

-homeland security a great new creation, "largely an inside job" [LOL]
-US outspends the world on defence [offence] +$450B
-Barnett could "protect America" for 100B, reason for 350B excess is US is selling a product to the outside world, buys US debt
-Japan and China biggest buyers of debt
-definition of the future of war: China, Taiwan straits, 2025
-China big, bad, allegedly communist
-need to find transformation that speaks to a global vision
--Structure of defense/intell
--Security alliance/basing
--Foreign policy strategies
-Internet organizations
-Global economic rule set

-need a new understanding of the American way, not just war, but peace [which is where the NOW comes in, force it on everyone under one rule and you don't have war anymore]
-"exporting security around the planet" for 60 years [what a spin on the term for killing and warring with nations...]
-"crisis response days" are the days American "export services" are sent to another country, i.e. billable hours
-70s to 80s, need for "military services" doubles, 80s to 90s 5-fold increase with Soviet collapse
-dealt with increase in demand by outsourcing military services, creating corporations do export "security services"
-50s 60s box Soviets in from Western Europe and East Asia
-70s Europe defense up, shift to South West Asia
-80s, CETNCOM created, 55% CRD in SW Asia, NE Africa

-Wall street saw China as future money, Pentagon saw China as future war, all wiped off map with 9/11
-connectivity and content flow problems
-compares problems with American state and their differences to the problems and differences of the nations of the world
-"we don't want your globalization and we'll kill you to keep it out"
-China joined WTO, WTO ruleset demanded China let foreign company take over one of its banks
-Globalization is functioning in 4B out out 6B of worlds population, in NA, South South America, EU, Russia, East Asia, Australia
-Barnett says the notion that the world is gong to hell in a hand basket, perpetual war, global chaos, American empire, is NON-SENSE!
-he says 2/3 of the world run fine [yeah because they have had the Western ruleset imposed on them]
-talked to Singapore and Israel and they say they have no problem with the US description of the world and they know what neighbourhood they live in, enjoy having US as security partner [NWO]
-take down North Korea create East Asian NATO
-he calls the middle part of the planet where there are problems "accepting" US plan is the globalization gap, the o-zone hole, bald spot
-says they don't want globalization because it goes against traditional culture, because it give woman rights [as if that is why], or because the can't "win" at the globalization game
-he calls himself a "futurist"

-International Criminal Court:
--"You can be exempted from being sued by another country if you choose to invade that country and engage in acts that can be considered worth suing over"
--calls it an interventionary prenup
-US has signed 68 contracts with some of these non-compliant countries
-wherever there is no globalization there is mass conflict of many forms: killing, rape, drug producers, terrorists.. etc
-the US empire asks before it invades, such as Iraq [yeah right, you make it look like you are asking but you are pressuring everyone to agree to cover your ass]
-US doesn't need UN coalition forces for the war fighting part, but is handy for the "peace-keeping part" [nice way of saying US is there to wage war on who it chooses because it can, and then bring in the UN to create the appearance of peacefull desires, forget about all the killing and murder, that's all secondary]
-"It's not the US flaunting the rules, but stepping up to the unique tasks of not global cop, but a policeman that walks the beat 24/7 inside the gap"
-makes analogy with South Central LA and Brentwood and how the policeman has to behave differently so he can live, where south central LA is the "gap" of non-compliant countries
-150 US bases closed in core globalization map, 2 dozen new bases created inside the gap
-"You can vote Bush-Cheney out of office, it'll still be there"
-undercover war on non-compliers
-"All the good stuff is on the outside [of the gap], no matter how you measure it. Fiber optic cable, RnD, money, wealth, population, trade.  It's all better on the outside."
-"Avoid what we have been doing for the past 15 years, which is sucking the troops back home.  So are the boys coming home, no they're never coming home.  No exit, no exit strategy.  We need to get more rugged, urban, because to be seen in this war is to be killed."
-"Reason, Libertarian Magazine, June issue, sent out to all 40 thousand subscribers.  On the cover of each issue, overhead satellite photo of the neigobhood of the subscriber witht heir house circled.  And the title on th e front of the magazine is 'We know where you live John Smith'.  That's connectivity in the core in its most amazing format." [this guy is nuts, all this surveillance is the greatest thing in the world to him!]

-no one wants to fight war against the US anymore, too powerful
-disconnectedness defines danger [i.e. if you aren't connected (under surveillance) then you are a danger to us]
-change from cold war "vertical scenario" vs. post-cold war "horizontal scenario"
-System Perturbation
--Vertical shock 9/11
--Horizontal shock tails from it:
---Airlines
-----Tourism
---Financial
-----Insurance
---Anthrax
-----AIDS drugs
---Afghanistan
-----Pakistan
-------India/Pak conflict

-he lays 9/11 on Osama as bad deeds being repaid for 20 years of crap in mid-east, 50 years for creating Israel, 800 years for Crusades [what a joker]
-US decided to create it's own vertical shock called Operation Iraqi Freedom [so even he admits the war had nothing to do with 9/11 and ties with Osama or any bullshit, making a "demonstration effect" according to Barnett]
-Barnett says Osama's strategy is he wants the West out of the middle-east so he can hijack the middle-east of out the world
-blames Lenin for Mao and grabbing 1/3 of world after Bolsheviks take over Russia [LOL]
-US strategy needs to be to connect middle-east to West faster than Osama can disconnect it
-strategy for Israel/Palestine is to sit on the WALL since they have so much practice at it in Berlin and North Korea, do it for 20-30 years
-says Iran is going for Trenoble
-calls Global War on Terrorism a pre-emption strategy
-9/11 + Anthrax = Department of Homeland Security
-wants to organize around "protecting Americans" by taking 200B out of 250B into DHS
-not worried about turning US into giant police force [idiot]
-deeper reach of US military power over time
-US doesn't fight militaries anymore, doesn't fight nation states, future is UAV that finds and kills 1 person in 8 minutes
-pre-911 military dreamed of system level function to operate on world wide scale, with little nation warring, but no going inside nation states or nation building [i.e. regime change]
-now global war on terrorism is all about going into countries and fighting inside it -> occupation
-fight the war and wage the peace [huh?]
-says they told us we couldn't do Afghanistan, no problem, said we couldn't do Iraq and would have 10k losses, no problem we only have 150 dead in the war
-not about projecting power but staying in power
-missing a System Admin for getting coalition forces to join in "waging peace", and IRF – International Reconstruction Fund to deal with rehabilitation and reconstruction of any regime you decapitate

-military split, one ideology about making an new globavl power enemy to fight against, the other group is for more peaceful operations
-"The rest of the military got pulled into the much.  This muck was described as a very derisive term: Military Operation Other Than War.  I ask you, who joins the military to do things other than war" [so now actually going for non-warring things is being in the muck, forget about peace because war is what is needed by a military...idiots]
-9/11 bridges the gap between these two ideologies
-says there is no empire from 9/11, US function is one of system administration [LMAO]

Waging war in the context of everything else
-globalization traumatized – culture conflict
-globalization stabilized – new core globalizers (Brazil, India, etc) not actively participating in "converting" non-compliant nations [i.e. no support in Iraq]
-globalization compromised – put a fence around the non-compliers and move on.  Claims: "You can't retreat from the world and expect the rest of the world to work out.  They will export their pain and their anger in your direction on a regular basis"
-best case outcome: globalization normalized – let new "9/11" occur but don't let them drive you out of Middle-East, shrink the gap progressively.  Take out the leaders and integrate the private sector.
-Barnett defines himself as an Economic Determinist
--Technology is the ma in drive of history
--If Globalization IV continues to advance we will see no more bad stuff

-resources in regions where they are plentiful have to migrate in regions where they are in scarce supply
-key flows are:
--movement of people i.e. migration
--movement of energy
--movement of money i.e. foreign direct investment, commercial bank loands, equity ownership
--exporting of security that only the US can do in an "appreciable" manner

-sees global population peek in 2050 at ~10B and we begin to depopulate as a species
-says China facing population shortage, they most likely to get old before they get rich
-"Equally young vs old in 2050, from that point on the old will out number the young.  Absolutely amazing, shouldn't happen in nature.  The wolves should hunt us down and kill us in large enough numbers."
-problem of ratio young to old, in old core gobalizers is 2:1, new core 5:1, the gap has 10:1
-need "gap" non complier populations to migrate into new and old core globalizers, with jobs moving from old core and new core into the gap areas
-claims 95% money gapers earn in old core areas is kept in old core while 5% money is sent back to homelands [how the fuck does that work]
-says all the things needed to make this happen are under attack after 9/11: ability to travel freely, ability to communicate freely, ability to move money freely [so he is a political scientist that is somewhat against the current laws that prevent these things or what?]
-2/3 oil out of Persian gulf goes to Asia
-claims only place for a "clash of civilizations" is Latin America

-get country above 3000 per capita GDP and they get out of the violence business
-how do you get them there?  With foreign direct investment which needs security [you send in the "security" to secure investments from West, and then they become globalized]
-global economy, three big engines of job creation: EU, NAFTA, Japan
-they send jobs, technology, investment to the core, and don't send it to the gap, no development in gap
-Rulesets + foreign developmental aid = development
-official developmental aid + corruption = rat hole
-ODA is optimism that it will work
-FDI is coward, if scared runs away, so security enables confident for FDI

-Saudi Arabia per capita income 28 thousand 20 years ago, 6 thousand now, going to be below 3 thousand very soon ands mass violence very soon
-USA 5% population of world, expel 25% global pollution/garbage, use 25% global energy = Living Large
-"My friends on wall street say why do you bring this up in public?  Do you know what it costs to print those pieces of paper we send around the world?  Nothing. They are just promises.  What we get in return: computers, cars, it's a tremendous deal." [this is quite a damning admission about the farce and unethical practice of the current economic situation plainly laid out]
-"I think the real transaction is we export security and we import connectivity."
-"Global stability is a collective good, why do we pay more for it that anybody else?  Because we enjoy it more than anybody else."
-"We need to let their youth in because we are going to age, that is an essential transaction we are gong to have to pursue"
-against patriot act because it diverts flow of Latinos who are going to Iberian peninsula instead
-"Their youth exchanged for out opportunity"
-"Our security exchanged for their instability"
-"Their energy exchanged for out prosperity"
-"Our money exchange for their development"

-people have to go from gap to core in large numbers
-security has to go to middle-east first then to the gap, why?  Because we need the energy before we go to hydrogen [the energy card is the excuse to take over the middle east and control it along with the rest of the world for globalization... hydrogen being retarded for this purpose]

-military option is small aspect to shrinking the gap, FDI is major influence on getting them to be globalized
-he believes DHS was a strategic error [I don't think he's part of the ball game as far as destroying America... unless he's just deceiving everyone which is likely, but he seems out of the loop to me]
-"shock of 9/11 should have pushed us into embracing the world not pulling back from the world"
-he differentiates Iraq between the "war" which was won easily, and the "occupation" which he knew would not work because he considers US to not have a back half force to properly administer waging peace, which is the allies and coalition force that is lacking
-believes in removing the service status of military officers once they achieve flag status, operate in JOINT function
-envisions a Leviathon brute force to decimate and a SysAdmin force of foot soldiers to stay in occupied land and administer the security for FDI and IRF reconstruction of shattered regime
-reaching the finishing line on Global War on Terrorism is: making globalization truly global, connecting the disconnected, ending the threat as we know it

Listen to the last 40minuts or so to get the summary.

One more thing Barnett said was he supported the Iraq invasion not just because Hussein was a "Stalinist" dictator, but because it forced the US to go out and assert its might in the "non-integrated fringe" of his silly paradigm. In other words, again using his dumb jargon, it put that SysOp muscle to work.

So I guess Barnett and McInsane are on the same page with the 100 years in Iraq objective.

Canard directed my attention to the deletion of the Barnett audio I posted to sendspace (it wasn't me!) Given the importance of the lecture as a map of the elite's reordering of the ground rules to suit their murderous rampages against anyone not totally under their control, and Latin's recent podcast on the topic, I uploaded it again - this time to another server.

Nice.  Thanks for keeping it alive kolnidre :)
I liked your idea of making an audio listen to, but I found the size of the files were too big though, so I made my own from the video.

32kbps 37MB
If anyone wants a smaller sized file you can grab it here:  http://theinfounderground.com/ftp/lav/audio/The%20Pentagons%20New%20Map%20-%20Thomas%20Barnett%20lecture.mp3
