Muslim Cleric Promotes Medieval Claim About Jews and Blood at Judaism's Holiest Site

A Palestinian Muslim cleric promoted the centuries' old accusation that Jews use the blood of children for religious rituals and that Jews were behind the 9/11 attacks in a sermon at the holiest site in Judaism.

"The devil or one of the big gods demanded it of them as a condition for fulfilling their wishes, that they eat [Passover matzo] bread kneaded with the blood of children," Sheikh Khaled Al-Mughrabi said at Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa mosque at the Temple Mount, in one of a litany of anti-Semitic claims painting Jews as the epitome of evil.

The media research organization Palestinian Media Watch, which tracks anti-Israel activity in the Palestinian media, first discovered the sermon and posted translated excerpts.

Al-Mughrabi painted a revoltingly detailed picture of how he imagined the alleged blood extraction would work: "Every holiday, every group would look for a small child, kidnap and steal him, bring a barrel called the barrel of nails. ... They would put the small child in the barrel and his body would be pierced by these nails. In the bottom of the barrel they would put a faucet and pour the blood."

The false accusations that Jews use blood for Passover first emerged during the Middle Ages in Europe and has historically been used as a pretext to kill Jews.

Al-Mughrabi told the Muslim worshippers that if they wanted to check his claim, all they needed to do was Google the concept and find "proof and evidence" of its veracity.

"Write 'Jews bread' in Google, 'Jews bread' or 'Jews matzo.' ... You will see all of these stories, and for all of them there is proof and evidence, with dates and police files in which the material is found," he said.

Located in the Old City of Jerusalem, the Temple Mount is considered the holiest site in the Jewish faith. The Al-Aqsa mosque on top of it is considered the third-holiest site in Islam.

On the 9/11 attacks, the cleric said, "It's known that the Jews were behind them. The evidence discovered afterward points to the fact that the Jews were behind the attack."

Al-Mughrabi also accused Jews of engaging in witchcraft, vampire-like blood-sucking activities and sacrifices to Satan. (For what it's worth, kosher dietary laws strictly forbid Jews from consuming any blood, as detailed in Leviticus.)
