Woman dies after stabbing at home for refugee minors

A 22-year old woman has died after an argument involving a knife at an accommodation in Mölndal for unaccompanied young asylum seekers in Mölndal.

The woman worked at the centre and was brought to hospital with life threatening injuries, but her life could not be saved, news agency Tt reports.

One man has been arrested after the attack.

"It was messy, a crime scene with a lot of blood. The perpetrator had been overpowered by other residents, people were down and upset," said the police press spokesperson Thomas Fuxborg, in describing what the police officers met when they came to the place in the morning.

A knife that is believed to be the one used in the attack has been recovered, police say.

Thomas Fuxborg tells TT that he welcomes the demand for more resources made by the National Police commissioner this morning.

"Of course we have had more to do, among others with these kinds of problems. You could say that since this autumn, we have been called out several times per week to different kinds of arguments at different types of accommodation (for asylum seekers) that we did not have before, so it has given us a lot of work," he told TT.

Swedish Radio Göteborg reports that the residents at the home will be moved to a new accommodation for tonight. They are aged between 14 and 17 years old.

Swedish police warn Stockholm's main police station is now overrun by migrant teen gangs 'stealing and groping girls'

    * Hundreds of Moroccan children living on the streets in Stockholm
    * Accused of stealing and assaulting security guards at the main station
    * Police say they grope girls and 'slap them in the face when they protest'
    * One in five Moroccan migrant children run away from housing since 2012

Swedish police warns that Stockholm's main train station has become unsafe after being 'taken over' by dozens of Moroccan street children.

The all-male migrant teen gangs are spreading terror in the centre of the Swedish capital, stealing, groping girls and assaulting security guards, according to Stockholm police.

Members of the gangs, some as young as nine, roam central Stockholm day and night, refusing help provided by the Swedish authorities.

'These guys are a huge problem for us. They steal stuff everywhere and assault security guards at the central station,' one police officer told SVT.

'They grope girls between their legs, and slap them in the face when they protest. All police officers are aware of this.

'I would never let my children go to the central station. No officer would.'

Swedish police demand 4,100 new employees after stabbing attack at refugee facility
https://www.rt.com/news/330231-swedish-police-more-employees/?utm_source=browser&utm_medium=aplication_chrome&utm_campaign=chrome

Swedish police have requested up to 4,100 new employees because of the current influx of refugees, which have increased the terror threat. The Swedish prime minister has supported the initiative after a deadly stabbing attack in a refugee facility.

Police wrote a letter to the government requesting between 1,500 and 2,500 more officers, as well as 1,600 more civil employees by 2020, Radio Sweden reported.

If the police staff is not increased, the country will be less safe with drug and traffic offenses being given less priority, National Police Commissioner Dan Eliasson said on Monday, according to Radio Sweden.

"I don't think the Swedish people want that, without the government and parliament listening to our request," he said.

Eliasson added that extra police forces are needed to step up border controls, ensure security in refugee accommodations, fight terrorism and exercise deportations.

"We have a lot of places where people are living for a long time in difficult conditions. These are small spaces where there are fights and disturbances. We need to have a presence there to make sure it's nice and quiet," Eliasson said.

Later on Monday, Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven agreed that police need more staff because of the refugee influx the country is facing.

"The police authority have got ... a heavier workload because of the refugee situation. And then you need more resources," said Lofven, according to Reuters.

Along with extra staff, police also asked the government for more investment in facilities, equipment, vehicles and training. They say they will need an extra $210-$320 million for 2017 to 2019.

Minister for Home Affairs Anders Ygeman is cautiously optimistic about the government's ability to satisfy the police demands.

"If we have a situation with border control that we haven't had since 1994, if we have the greatest terrorist threat since this scale was introduced, well then eventually it will be necessary to give more resources to the police," he said, as cited by Radio Sweden.

Sweden raised security concerns after a deadly stabbing attack at a center for underage, unaccompanied refugees in Mölndal, southern Sweden on Monday where a 22-year-old female staff member was killed by a 15-year-old male asylum seeker.

In another incident, a police patrol consisting of 10 officers was forced to flee the Västerås refugee center in Sweden after being surrounded by a mob of violent migrants last Wednesday. The police wanted to relocate a 10-year-old boy, after reports that he had been subject to repeated rape.

Swedish authorities said last month that the country has hit its limit in terms of receiving asylum seekers and reintroduced border checks. Last year, Sweden accepted about 200,000 migrants and refugees.

Sweden to deport nearly 80,000 asylum seekers amid migrant-linked violence
https://www.rt.com/news/330401-sweden-expel-80000-migrants/?utm_source=browser&utm_medium=aplication_chrome&utm_campaign=chrome

Sweden is planning to expel nearly 80,000 refugees and migrants who arrived in the country in 2015, Interior Minister Anders Ygeman said, adding that their applications for asylum had been rejected.

"We are talking about 60,000 people, but the number could climb to 80,000," Swedish media quoted Ygeman as saying.

Police and local authorities have been tasked with organizing the departures by charter flights. The countries of origin of the rejected asylum seekers have not been disclosed.

Sweden, which has the population of 9.8 million people, is one of the EU countries that took in the largest share of refugees per head of population. In 2015, it accepted over 160,000 refugees and migrants.

However, the level of new arrivals has plunged since the beginning of January, when Sweden introduced systematic photo ID border checks, after stating that it has hit its limit in terms of receiving asylum seekers.

Swedish officials have been calling for greater security at asylum centers amid a surge in reports of violence.

Police officers have requested up to 4,100 new employees after a deadly stabbing attack in a refugee facility.

The attack happened at a center for underage, unaccompanied refugees in Mölndal, southern Sweden on Monday, where a 22-year-old female staff member was killed by a 15-year-old boy.

The victim was psychology graduate Alexandra Mezher. She was reportedly working the night shift alone when she was attacked. A motive for the attack was not immediately known.

"She worked at the center for about four months. She wanted to continue with her studies, but wanted to have a job to get experience first," Mezher's friend Lejla Filipovic told RT.

On Tuesday, over 40 asylum seekers were reportedly involved in a brawl at a refugee center in the Dutch city of Rosmalen, according to police. Twelve police cars were dispatched to the shelter.

In another incident last week, a police patrol consisting of 10 officers was forced to flee the Västerås refugee center in Sweden after being surrounded by a group of asylum seekers. The police were there to relocate a 10-year-old boy, after reports that he had been subject to repeated rape.

Tougher security measures have also been implemented in Sweden's neighboring countries. Denmark approved a new law this week, making it legal to seize refugees' belongings. Critics of the legislation have compared the new law to the Nazis' confiscation of gold and other valuables from Jews during the Holocaust.

Meanwhile, the number of refugees trying to make their way to Europe across the Mediterranean is not subsiding. The UN revealed that already over 46,000 people have arrived in Greece since the beginning of the year, with more than 170 people killed trying to cross the sea.
