As Pax Americana Disintegrates, More American Soldiers are Sent Overseas as Cannon Fodder!

Once again, our Republic has floundered amidst the ignorance, arrogance and lassitude of our Centurion Guards. Each of our so-called regional commanders, be it CINPAC, SOUTHCOM, or more importantly,  AFRICOM--  has required the dedicated youth of our republic to replenish the staid affairs of those soldiers who already spend their vitality in some forgotten wasteland somewhere in the Middle East, South Asia, or Africa. Yet, not once has our leader, or even our present presidential candidates, questioned the necessity of maintaining 700 plus military bases in over 220 countries.
Even the most timid of those leaders, a man who foreswore war as a means of resolving conflict [Bernie Sanders] has neither the vaguest idea of what he wants to do nor where he wants to do it with a standing army of 2million soldiers [not necessarily all combatants]. Currently, our citizen/ soldiers-- the Florida National Guard—replete with talented civilians is being deployed to Djibouti. That is right, Djibouti!

Our American Republic is addicted to war and destruction just as many failed civilizations before us have been. Moreover, we are so pathetic at executing any type of war that no one can seriously quote to me one major battle or war that we have won since 1944. Now, we have all new types of warfare including Cyberwar, nuclear, laser, 'shock and awe'[what a joke]. We use "war" as a rallying cry to convince men, women and now LGBTs to sign up, volunteer to "protect national security" in some god forsaken place in the world.

Currently,  the self-perpetuating "War On Terrorism" [an oxymoron] has no more validity than our unsolicited incursions into Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya.  Hint:  any time we use the phrase:  "War on...."  start to be suspicious. Think of the "War on Drugs", how well did that work out?  Ask any retired DEA man about that sad story of corruption and lying politicians that profited from illicit drug money. Same old story, greedy people get rich at the expense of the poor, the young and the un-informed.

If there is an overseas danger, looming far beyond our immediate borders, then we have the two basic instruments required to handle it: effusive amounts of tax dollars; as well as, mercenaries [Blackwater, CACI, L3, etc.]. We could buy our way out of these unnecessary wars without having to shed the blood of our own children or anyone else's.

It's time for our millennials to protest in whatever manner they see fit: be it at Starbucks or wherever, sing, shout or blog some form of disapproval.

War is not an exercise in wishful thinking and jingoism. It's a serious conundrum which we must study, understand and manage in the same way that a talented transplant surgeon does not make the first incision until he/she has a clear idea of what the outcome will be fourteen hours later. War is like the practice of medicine. It is a profession where dilettantes and non-military personnel do not belong.

History has been very generous in providing our Pax Americana with examples of the inevitable self-destruction that will set in:

▪ Greece
▪ Roman
▪ Spain
▪ France
▪ Ottoman Empire
▪ England

Take the time to learn the history and the failure of continuous wars.  The Information Age is a new era with easy access to all the history that we ever want to know and all the facts that they never teach in what's left of our schools.
There is an adage:
"Every time history repeats itself, the price goes up."
