Yankee Doodle's theory has always been that the person killed in Abbottabad was actually one of the doubles that the CIA had been using to make fake bin Laden videos.  Somehow, the Pakistanis were hiding him - perhaps he wanted protection from the CIA, or maybe they were using him as blackmail or a bargaining chip - .and the CIA found him, and went in and killed him.

They decided to use this killing of bin Laden's double for propaganda purposes, and, of course, the Seals that did the operation knew the truth, and, thus, they had to be killed, to protect the propaganda.
