Not so long ago a lot of people who wanted to maintain their privacy
went to the Thor project . However the Deep State Spying Apparatus
(DSSA) seems to have taken total control and  surveillance authority
over the ip addresses used by Thor, to anonymize the Thor users. Thor uses
VPN and a secured Firefox version. Strangely enough once you are hookup
up, throwing away your settings and cache inside .mozilla is made
impossible. A strange design restriction.

Most of the current illegal and unwarranted spying by the DSSA is
relying on `built-in` vulnerabilities like Zero days inside your computer
and mobile phone or appliance's operating system. Since 2011 a lot has
gone wrong, and it looks like within the Open Source community a
substantial number of key developers have taken up employment within
the DSSA, with results which can e.g. be observed inside the
Documentary Zero Days.

In 2011 i was running Mandriva 2011 x86_64 on my laptop, and tried a
couple of times versions of Ubuntu. However the Ubuntu approach is not
really a handy platform for people who want to travel and at the same
time maintain their privacy. Imagine running the software
update-manager on the Wifi of your Hotel or Airport you are residing.
Its like phoning home to the Admin of Ubuntu, who might or might not
be one of the folks with a job at the DSSA.

A long story short. Since 2011 i have kept running Mandriva 2011 on my
laptop and have upgraded several needed mandatory software components
from time to time. The most recent upgrade might be of interest for a
greater audience, the opera web-browser, Opera Stable 44.0.2510.857 which
has now its own VPN capability available.

Opera 44.0 Build 2510.857 – Final

The best part is that opera.com has no clue whatsoever what platform i am
currently running Opera 44 on :

Opera 44 is not some run of the mill browser, its a careful crafted swiss
pocket knife browser  with a pretty high standard for HTML5 compatibility :
