Rapper Wiley investigated by police and dropped by management after anti-Semitic Twitter rant

UK rapper Wiley is being investigated by the police and has been dropped from his management label following a bizarre outburst in which he posted a series of anti-Semitic tweets that sparked fierce backlash.

The grime artist ignited outrage when he posted a deluge of tweets about Jewish people on Friday and Saturday, saying they are the "real enemy" who want to "rob us blind," and comparing them to the Ku Klux Klan.

"Jewish would do anything to ruin a black man's life but it won't work with me I am a savage," he said in one of the posts. He also told the Jewish community that Israel is "not your country."

Tower Hamlets Police in London said it is assessing the "relevant material" after receiving a "huge" number of reports of alleged anti-Semitic tweets.

Things went from bad to worse for the rapper after the outburst. Earlier, Wiley's manager, John Woolf, tweeted that A List Management have "cut all ties" with him, saying, "there is no place in society for antisemitism." However, Wiley, whose real name is Richard Cowie, disputed this claim on Instagram, saying it was he who cut ties with Woolf.

Twitter and Instagram are being called on to remove Wiley's accounts, which have over 940,000 followers combined. He said Twitter temporarily suspended him after his rant, but that he was "back in action" on Saturday, when he continued to tweet similar claims. He then posted on Instagram that he had received a seven-day Twitter ban. Some of his posts have now been removed for violating Twitter's rules.

"If we identify accounts that violate any of these rules, we'll take enforcement action," a Twitter spokesperson told the Guardian. "This account has been temporarily locked for violating our hateful conduct policy."

The Campaign Against Antisemitism said it reported Wiley to the Metropolitan Police, asked Twitter and Facebook to shut his accounts, and said it will contact the Cabinet Office to ask for his MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) to be taken away.

Britain is revolting against Twitter, because Twitter didn't act fast enough to silence this Wiley black man who knows too much about the jews, and had the nerve to say it.

Wiley: Anti-Semitism row prompts 48-hour Twitter boycott
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/wiley-anti-semitism-row-prompts-114447675.html

A 48-hour boycott of Twitter by some of its users, protesting at the platform's alleged lack of action on anti-Semitism has begun.

It was triggered by the actions of grime music artist Wiley, who shared several posts on Twitter on Friday.

Some of the tweets were deleted, but Twitter was criticised for taking time to act and leaving some tweets up.

The Prime Minister's official spokesman has said Boris Johnson believes "Twitter needs to do better".

The offending messages "should not have been able to remain on Twitter and Instagram for so long", he added, and "social media companies need to go further and faster to remove content like this".

Dozens of well-known figures supporting the two-day "walkout" are using the hashtags #NoSafeSpaceForJewHate and #48HoursSilence.

Many of those taking part accused Twitter of "breaking its own policies" for not having taken a tougher line - Wiley has been temporarily suspended by Twitter but not banned.

The protest formally began at 09:00BST. But since that time, other people and organisations have joined, including the accounts of Greenpeace UK, the Royal Opera House, the pop group McFly, sports broadcaster Gary Lineker, as well as members of the public.

However, some people have questioned whether keeping silent is the best way to challenge online hate.

Police are now investigating Wiley's tweets, and said "enquiries remain ongoing". The so-called "godfather of grime" has also been temporarily barred from Instagram.

Who is boycotting?
Actress and writer Tracy-Ann Oberman, who is one of those leading the movement, tweeted on Saturday that Twitter had "allowed [Wiley] 48 hours of pure race hate".

She said that Twitter founder Jack Dorsey "has to stick by [Twitter's] remit of anti racism. Silence is complicity. Please walk out with us."

The rallying cry was taken up by a diverse cross-section of Twitter users, including:

- television presenter Rachel Riley
- comedian Robert Webb
- singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor
- actor Jason Isaacs
- radio presenter and activist Maajid Nawaz
- businessman Lord Sugar
- Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis

A host of MPs from different parties also said they would take part - including Labour's Rosena Allin-Khan and David Lammy, former Green Party leader Caroline Lucas, acting Lib Dems leader Ed Davey, and Conservative MP Jane Stevenson.

Those taking part have vowed not to tweet - or use Twitter at all - from Monday morning to Wednesday morning, reflecting the 48 hours of inaction they accuse Twitter of.

Some organisations are also taking part, including the Music Producers Guild, the National Children's Bureau charity, London's Southbank Centre, the Jewish Chronicle newspaper and the American Jewish Committee.

Karen Pollock, chief executive of the UK's Holocaust Educational Trust, tweeted her organisation's support for the move, writing that Twitter can be "abusive, distressing and so draining".

She added: "It is about time social media companies Twitter [and] Instagram live up to the values their users would expect."

Twitter said: "Abuse and harassment has no place on Twitter and we strongly condemn it". The firm highlighted its policies that ban the promotion of violence against people on the basis of religion, race or ethnicity.

"We enforce our rules judiciously and impartially for all and take action if an account violates our rules," it said.

Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis, meanwhile, has written to Twitter chief executive Jack Dorsey and Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg, telling them: "social media companies have a responsibility to act and must do so without delay".

"This cannot be allowed to stand. Your inaction amounts to complicity."

What happened to Wiley?
During his tweet session, Wiley referenced conspiracy theories about Jewish people and other insulting material. He also posted extensively to Facebook-owned Instagram.

Many have now been replaced with notices that the tweets are no longer available because they violated Twitter's rules.

However, they had already attracted the attention of a number of public figures and the police.

On Saturday, London's Metropolitan Police in Tower Hamlets tweeted that they had received "a number of reports" about anti-Semitic tweets, and that "the relevant material is being assessed".

UK Home Secretary Priti Patel said she had asked Twitter and Instagram for a full explanation, while London mayor Sadiq Khan has written to the firms, criticising their reaction.

Wiley's management also dropped the artist over the weekend, saying: "There is no place in society for anti-Semitism."

The 41-year-old artist, whose real name is Richard Cowie, is a major figure in grime music, and was made an MBE in 2018 for services to music.

The anti-Semitism row has also resulted in calls for that honour to be withdrawn.

Hi manager appears to be a typical Jew and Wiley was upset because the Jew ripped him off. Same story through the decades. They killed Michael Jackson for complaining about the very same thing.

https://twitter.com/Abiiolaaaaaa/status/1288553585853300741

Here's Wiley complaining about how his sickening Jew manager stole his awards.

I did not follow this story much at the time but I did look at it a bit a few days ago. In order to distract from the shockingly transparent fact that his Jew manager ripped him off, the Jews created this whataboutism meme on Twitter and got all these stupid black kids to parrot the meme - https://mobile.twitter.com/search?q=wiley%20katie%20hopkins&src=typed_query

It goes like "Wiley's tweets were bad but what about Katie Hopkin's tweets?". Another variation goes like "Wiley got banned immediately after a few tweets but it took Twitter years to ban Katie Hopkins."

maz

If blacks around the world are waking up like this, even if they only have 50% of the story, it could be a game changer. There is already a lot of other blacks shilling for Jews and trying to put the genie back in the bottle. Maybe Jews are paying them to do it. I don't think it's going to work.

I've looked into to this guy a little bit more and I guess he's also making YouTube videos too. Apparently, he was dropping some serious red pills on his fans about Judah P. Benjamin.

I watched another video where he claims that someone posted a tweet about the holocaust that was made to look like he himself posted it. He talked about it in one of his videos. He literally held up the tweet on his phone in front of the camera, and claimed that he didn't write it LOL

I can't tell if it is a hilarious troll or not. I kind of think it is a troll, even if he didn't write it.

This video is just a bunch of clips edited together to make this guy look crazy. Granted, he probably does have a few loose screws like almost all entertainers, but skip to 5:41 and listen to what he says.

Holy shit they banned his YouTube account! That video I posted where he denied that he denied the holocaust had thousands of comments supporting him and calling out Jews.

I watched one of his music videos yesterday and it had something insane like 34 million views. That was just on ONE VIDEO alone. Until last week, I had no idea how big he was. He was an A-list performer who collaborated with other major A list stars like the actor/performer Idris Elba.

The are seriously going to unperson him. They are truly scared on men speaking out, no matter if they are white, black, Arab whatever.

I am glad I got that screen cap before they deleted his videos lol

Wiley finally banned from YouTube following appeal by CAA

QuoteCampaign Against Antisemitism has been informed by Google that it has decided to ban Wiley from YouTube. He was using his channel to broadcast disturbing videos to almost 250,000 followers. It had initially refused to remove him, but Campaign Against Antisemitism has successfully appealed the decision.

The performer, who was finally banned from Twitter, Facebook and Instagram following worldwide outrage, had been uploading further videos to his popular YouTube channel.

The videos continued in the same vein as his previous videos and his recent interviews with Sky News and The Voice, a newspaper for the black community, in which he reaffirmed his belief in antisemitic conspiracy theories and bigoted stereotypes about Jews.

For example, in one of the new videos, Wiley demanded that an unspecified "you", which appears from the context to refer to Jews in general, try taking his passport away so that Wiley can see quite how much power the unnamed "you" has.

In another video, he read the name of a Twitter user and demanded to know whether she is a Jew.

In yet another video, he said that he had to "throw myself on the bonfire" to show his audience and "draw everything out — you saw it".

The videos attracted many thousands of views, and comments posted beneath them were vehemently antisemitic.

Google initially decided to remove only one video, which it said was antisemitic, but not the ones cited above.

Following an appeal by Campaign Against Antisemitism, Google has now reversed its position and banned Wiley from the platform entirely.

A spokesperson for Campaign Against Antisemitism said: "Following contact between Campaign Against Antisemitism and Google, Wiley has now been banned from YouTube. This should have happened faster but we are pleased that this now means that Wiley can no longer incite antisemitism on any of the major social media platforms and has lost the ability to broadcast his hatred to the hundreds of thousands of people who followed him.

"It is extremely important to us that Wiley is held to account for his actions, which is why we are in touch with the Metropolitan Police Service to ensure that he is prosecuted and the Cabinet Office to ensure that he is stripped of his MBE."

Campaign Against Antisemitism continues its robust engagement with social media companies over the content that they enable to be published, and we continue to make representations to the Government in this connection.

Found the Wiley video in this RT article.  https://www.rt.com/sport/547313-marcus-rashford-jesse-lingard-wiley-photo/?utm_source=browser&utm_medium=aplication_chrome&utm_campaign=chrome

If Wiley is an "anti-semite," he's probably not allowed to have a twitter account.  Or, maybe he has a twitter account that he maintains as a professional account, being sure not to be "anti-semitic" on it.

Don't know anything about twitter.  Looks like the jews found this little video of Wiley, and put it on their own twitter accounts.

I was thinking about this guy recently. How he was this huge star in the UK who worked with all of the top rappers from all over the world and then poof! Nothing. Banned from YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. He cannot even get gigs.

His music is either hard to find online or unavailable on large platforms and no one says his name anymore unless it is in reference to antisemitism.

I haven't checked Yankee's link yet, but I found this from a few days ago.

England Footballer Marcus Rashford has conand Jesse Lingard have been pictured posing alongside disgraced rapper Wiley in Dubai.

Quote

A picture shared by Wiley shows Manchester United players Rashford and Lingard alongside him following a performance at a nightclub in Dubai. It is not confirmed when the picture was taken.

Wiley, who has struggled to get bookings in the UK since he embarked on multiple antisemitic tirades online, performed at Club Blu Dubia on Sunday.

Video footage shows the rapper performing to busy crowds at the +44 event held on the 32nd floor of the V Hotel which is part of the Hilton hotel group.

Posting about his performance on Instagram he said: "Big up whoever got me that booking in Dubai. I just wanna say thank you because man never had no bookings."
The rapper later revealed that fellow British musician DJ Ironik help to secure him the booking.

He later posted a photo with the footballers along with the caption "Thank you @officialdjironik for getting me a booking and big up these dons."

Grime artist Wiley first provoked a storm of outrage in 2020 when he embarked on a antisemitic tirade online that continued for days. He accused Jewish people of being "racists" and "cowards" and asked if it was antisemitic "to say Jewish people have power".

He described Jews as "snakes;" and told "black people" to go to "war" with Jewish people.

His posts prompted a 48 hour 'walk out' by Twitter users in protest over its failure to act quickly in banning the rapper. The posts led to an eventual ban for Wiley from Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram as well as being dumped by his record label and manager.
