Anne Frank may have been betrayed by Jewish notary, new book claims
Arnold van den Bergh, founding member of Jewish council used to organize deportations, allegedly revealed secret hiding place to Nazis to save his own family

A cold case investigation led by an ex-FBI agent has identified a Jewish notary as the prime suspect in the mystery of who betrayed teenage diarist Anne Frank and her family to the Nazis, a new book claims.

Arnold van den Bergh may have revealed the Franks' hiding place in Amsterdam in order to save his own family, according to a six-year probe detailed in "The Betrayal of Anne Frank" by Canadian author Rosemary Sullivan, which is to be published on Tuesday.

The case against Van den Bergh, who died in 1950, is supported by evidence including an anonymous note sent to Anne's father Otto after World War II naming him as the betrayer, according to elements published in Dutch media Monday.

The Anne Frank House museum told AFP that the results of the probe, led by retired Federal Bureau of Investigation detective Vincent Pankoke, were a "fascinating hypothesis" but needed further investigation.

Theories have long swirled about the Nazi raid on August 4, 1944, that uncovered the secret annex where Anne and her family hid from the Holocaust for two years.

Van den Bergh's name had previously received little attention, but came to the fore during the investigation using modern techniques including artificial intelligence to sort through huge amounts of data.

It narrowed the list of suspects to four, including Van den Bergh, who was a founding member of the Jewish Council, an administrative body the Nazis forced Jews to establish to organize deportations.

Van den Bergh had managed to have himself categorized as a non-Jew, Pankoke found. But he was later redesignated as Jewish after a business dispute.

At the time, he acted as a notary in the forced sale of works of art to prominent Nazis such as Hermann Göring, and used addresses of hiding places as a form of life insurance for his family.

Investigators found he had managed to get his family exempted from being transported, but that this was revoked around the time of the betrayal of the Franks.

"We do not have a smoking gun, but we do have a hot weapon with empty casings next to it," Pankoke was quoted as saying by Dutch public broadcaster NOS.

The author, Sullivan, said Van den Bergh was a well-known notary and one of the six Jewish notaries in Amsterdam at the time. "A notary in the Netherlands is more like a very high-profile lawyer. As a notary, he was respected. He was working with a committee to help Jewish refugees, and before the war as they were fleeing Germany," The Guardian quoted her as saying.

"The anonymous note did not identify Otto Frank. It said 'your address was betrayed.' So, in fact, what had happened was Van den Bergh was able to get a number of addresses of Jews in hiding. And it was those addresses with no names attached and no guarantee that the Jews were still hiding at those addresses," Sullivan said.

"That's what he gave over to save his skin, if you want, but to save himself and his family. Personally, I think he is a tragic figure," she added.

After the raid on the Franks' house, the family was deported and Anne and her sister died in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp the following year.

Her father later published her "Diary of a Young Girl," which has since sold more than 30 million copies.

Ronald Leopold, executive director of the Anne Frank House, said questions remained about the anonymous note in particular.

"You have to be very careful about sending someone down in history as a traitor to Anne Frank if you are not 100 or 200 percent sure about that," he added.

Head of the Anne Frank Foundation: There is no evidence that the Jewish lawyer betrayed her
John Goldsmith, who heads the foundation set up by the Jewish girl's father, attacked the investigation that revealed that a Dutch notary was the one who betrayed the Dutch family and reported a hiding place to the Nazis. "It borders on conspiracy theory, now the main statement is - a Jew betrayed jews."

The head of the foundation set up by Anne Frank's father criticized the investigation that revealed that the person who betrayed the Dutch Jewish family to the Nazis was a Jewish lawyer. John Goldsmith, a Basel-based Anne Frank Foundation, said in an interview with the Swiss newspaper Blick am Sontang that the investigation was "full of mistakes" and that it had presented no evidence.

Anna and seven other Jews, including members of her family, were captured by the Nazis on August 4, 1994, after hiding for almost two years in hiding in a warehouse in Amsterdam. They were all deported to concentration camps in Europe, and Anna died of typhus in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp when she was only 15 years old. Her diary, which was published around the world, was revealed by her father Otto at the end of World War II.

A team of experts, including former FBI agent Vincent Pancock and about 20 historians, criminologists and data experts, last week pointed to a relatively unknown figure, the Jewish notary Arnold van den Berg, as the main suspect in the extradition of the Frank family in exchange for saving his family. A book detailing the findings of the investigation, which lasted six years, was published on Tuesday.

"It does not contribute to the disclosure of the truth but to the confusion, and in addition, it is full of mistakes," said Anne Frank Foundation head. Some experts stressed that the evidence against Van der Berg was inconclusive. Goldsmith said the research team was more "commercial" than academic, and the baseless allegations he made publicly "border on conspiracy theory." "Now the main statement is - a Jew betrayed Jews. It is etched in memory and it is disturbing," he added.

Publisher apologizes for book naming Anne Frank betrayal suspect
Ambo Anthos will suspend the printing of further Dutch copies of the book
https://www.rt.com/news/547889-publisher-apologizes-anne-frank-book/?utm_source=browser&utm_medium=aplication_chrome&utm_campaign=chrome

The Dutch publisher of a book which accuses a Jewish man of "most likely" betraying Anne Frank to the Nazis in 1944 has apologized to "anyone who feels offended" and stopped printing further copies.

Ambo Anthos – which publishes the Dutch version of 'The Betrayal of Anne Frank: A Cold Case Investigation' by Rosemary Sullivan – has expressed concern that not enough work was done to ensure Jewish Council of Amsterdam member Arnold van den Bergh was for certain the man who betrayed Frank and her family.

In a letter on Monday, the publisher said that "the conclusions of the study... are being questioned by several researchers." Ambo Anthos apologized that the book has provoked "such a reaction" and admitted it was "not possible to assess all details of the arguments" in the book "for correctness or substantiation."

QuoteWe offer our sincere apologies to anyone who feels offended by the book

"We realize that we have gained momentum through the international publication and that a more critical stance could have been taken here," the publisher claimed, adding that it was "waiting for answers from the research team to the questions that have arisen" and would be "delaying the decision to print" more copies.

The decision to delay further printing will not affect copies of the book in other languages, including English, which are not published by Ambo Anthos.

While many researchers and historians agreed that it was likely van den Bergh who sold out the Frank family to the Nazis in an effort to protect his own, others expressed skepticism over the claims and argued there was not enough evidence.

Jews Desperate To Suppress Sale Of Book Showing Proof Anne Frank Was 'Betrayed' By A Jewish Informant
https://christiansfortruth.com/jews-desperate-to-suppress-sale-of-book-showing-proof-anne-frank-was-betrayed-by-a-jewish-informant/

Jews have even more protective of Anne Frank than Catholics are with the Virgin Mary — any evidence that arises which puts into question her official "story" or her status as the patron saint of the "Holocaust" — and the unparalleled suffering of the Jews — must be attacked, discredited, and suppressed at all costs:

Costco named as its February "Buyer's Pick" a book about Anne Frank that has been taken off the market in the Netherlands, in the latest sign that criticism of the book is unlikely to stem its influence. "The Betrayal of Anne Frank" made waves upon its release last month because of its explosive conclusion that a Jew had betrayed Frank's family to the Nazis.

The book, by Rosemary Sullivan, chronicles the work of an investigative team led by a retired FBI agent that identified "with 85% certainty" a notary named Arnold van den Bergh as the person who directed German forces to the Amsterdam hiding place of the teenage diarist, her parents and sister.

But in the weeks after the release, Dutch historians, European Jewish leaders and other authors protested the book, saying that it unfairly impugned a long-dead Dutch Jew without adequate evidence. Some presented evidence suggesting that, rather than being the likely culprit in a historical mystery, van den Bergh was being smeared.

Amid this pressure, the book's publisher, Ambo Anthos, suspended sales of the Dutch-language translation of the book last week. "There were obvious problems with the research, and probably the last thing that Ambo Anthos wanted was an authors' walkout," Johannes Houwink ten Cate, professor emeritus of Holocaust and genocide studies at the University of Amsterdam, told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.

But the book remains widely available outside of the Netherlands. Its selection as a Costco pick means that millions of Americans will see a direct appeal to buy and read it, and many likely will. The book was featured on an episode of 60 Minutes on January 16th. "I can still remember the effect Anne Frank's The Diary of a Young Girl had on me," a Costco book buyer named Alex Kanenwisher wrote in the company's February newsletter. "So I am very excited to share this month's book buyer's pick, The Betrayal of Anne Frank by Rosemary Sullivan." The newsletter called the book a "modern whodunit."

According to the book's critics, the whodunit remains far from solved. They point to details from van den Bergh's life, including that he himself had gone into hiding before the Frank family was betrayed and that investigators had cleared him of Nazi collaboration after the war, to argue that it's impossible to conclude that he had given up the family's location.

Pieter van Twisk, the lead researcher of the cold-case team, told JTA that those facts didn't refute the book's conclusion. "People in hiding often were pressured or extorted into cooperation," van Twisk wrote in an email approved by Vince Pankoke, the retired FBI agent who led the team. "As long as you could provide things of value (gold, jewellery, money, stocks, paintings and yes addresses etc.) they might have left you alone."

Although Pankoke and his team have publicly stood by their conclusions, they said in a statement on their website that it was "very unwise" to assert that the conclusion was "85%" accurate. "This does not represent the degree of certainty" of the study's results, they wrote in Dutch.

The European Jewish Congress, which represents dozens of Jewish communities in Europe, has formally called for the book to be rescinded. Naming a Jewish culprit in a mystery that has transfixed people of all backgrounds could be "potentially incendiary" at a time of rising antisemitism, the group wrote in a letter to the book's publisher.

There is no indication that the challenges against the book will change its distribution in the United States, where the book is featured prominently in many bookstores. HarperCollins' main offices and several regional publishers have not replied to JTA's requests for comment on the criticism of the book. Costco's promotion of the book is "continuing the trend of Americans wanting less to directly talk about the Holocaust and more to talk near it," tweeted Maris Kreizman, a Jewish author who hosts a podcast about books.

Critics fear that the more the book is read, the more likely it is that van den Bergh will forever be suspected of betraying his fellow Jews. "The debate that's happening in the Netherlands is not happening at the same level in Canada and in the United States," ten Cate said. "That means that I'm not sure that the genie released by the cold case study is ever going back into the bottle."

The controversy is rippling over into Germany. There, the publisher of the German-language translation, Jürgen Welte, announced it was performing "an internal review" ahead of the intended release date of March 22. "After two professional edits of the manuscript, we are currently undergoing an internal review," Jürgen Welte said in a statement. "The comparatively late publication date of the German-language edition shows that we are handling this sensitive topic extremely responsibly."

Anne Frank must remain Jewry's poster child of the ultimate victim of "Nazi" evil — and the Jews have painted themselves into a corner on this issue and have no escape from this untenable.

To maintain Anne Frank in this sacrosanct elevated status, Jews are forced to ignore all evidence that undermines or even "complicates" this position.

Jews sold each other out to the "Nazi" quite frequently during the war — in fact, billionaire George Soros, as a young teenager, collaborated with the "Nazis" to confiscate Jewish property.

And, of course, we have the stories of the Jewish "capos" in the "death camps" who helped the "Nazis" exterminate their fellow Jews in Gas Chambers™.

And these turn-coat or sell-out Jews are often given a free pass because they were doing what they needed to do to "survive" — which is really the foundation of all Jewish morality — "Do what you gotta do."

Anne Frank's father, Otto, had a reputation as a shady businessman whose activities in the black market made him a man "of interest" to the German occupying forces — putting his entire family at risk.

We know Otto was an unconscionable con man — after all, he didn't think twice of exploiting his dead daughter's diary — even hiring a ghost writer to make additions to it — and publishing it after the war and becoming rich and famous.

It's hardly a stretch that someone who would do something so self-serving, machiavellian with his daughter's life and death would be related to similar shady characters like Arnold van den Bergh who would be willing to tell the Germans where Jewish families were in hiding for 30 pieces of silver.

Knowing what we know about what Jews like George Soros were willing to do to survive the war, it would be surprise to find out that Anne Frank and her family were not betrayed by their fellow Jews.

Rainbow International will produce for Disney Plus a series about Mip Heiss - a Righteous Among the Nations who hid Anne Frank and her family from the Nazis.

Rainbow Studios - the studios of Rainbow International in Los Angeles - will co-produce with ABC Signature Studios a series called A Small Light that will tell the extraordinary life story of Dutchwoman Mip Heiss who hid Anne Frank and her family from the Nazis. Hiss is also the one who found Anna's diary in the hiding place after she and her family were arrested, and kept it until she finally brought it to Father Otto, who published and presented it to the world.

Hiss passed away in 2010 at the age of 100, after her heroic story was a source of inspiration to many people around the world. The name of the series is taken from one of Hess' most quoted sayings: "I do not want to be called a heroine; no one should ever think that you have to be special to help others. Even a secretary, a housewife or a girl can turn on a small light in a dark room."

The screenwriters of the series will be John Reiter and Tony Flan ("Grey's Anatomy"). Golden Globe winner Susanna Fogel ("Woods the Night," "The Stewardess") will direct a number of episodes. Among the main producers - Keshet executives Peter Trarugot, Alon Struzman and Avi Nir.

Avi Nir, CEO of the Keshet Group: "True and meaningful stories, like the story of Mip Heis, are of special importance to us. "There is another value to an Israeli partnership in a production for Disney that will deal with the human light that ignites in the darkest times."
