Iran's Intelligence Ministry announced on 24 July that its security forces arrested members of an Israeli-linked terror network.

According to the ministry, the cell was linked to "terrorist circles in Denmark and the Netherlands" connected to Israeli spy agency, the Mossad.

The ministry statement said that the network was orchestrating attacks and sabotage operations to be carried out during the month of Muharram – the first month of the Islamic year – including an attack on the shrine of the former head commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Qassem Soleimani.

The organization also sought to bomb centers of public gatherings, transmission towers, and gas stations to disrupt and hinder the movement of essential imports and exports.

Additionally, 43 explosives were confiscated from the members of the cell, who were planning to use them at mourning processions and ceremonies.

Iran's Intelligence Ministry disclosed that the cell intended to carry out attacks in the Iranian provinces of Isfahan, Kerman, Tehran, Kohgiluyeh, Kordestan, and Boyer-Ahmad, adding that the 43 explosives had high destructive and remote control capabilities.

According to Iranian media, the leaders of the terror network reside in the Netherlands and Denmark, and receive funding and weapons from Israel.

In May, Iranian Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib, announced that a terror cell linked to Israel was apprehended  https://new.thecradle.co/articles/terrorists-linked-to-israel-arrested-in-irans-western-border-regions on the western borders of Iran, the semi-official Nour News agency reported.  https://www.geo.tv/latest/488595-iran-says-intelligence-forces-bust-israel-backed-terror-group

Khatib added that they had entered the country through Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdistan region, which several Iraqi officials have described as a hub for foreign intelligence agencies such as the CIA and the Mossad.

The Iranian intelligence minister has previously affirmed that the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) must secure its borders, adding that the Iranian military would not hesitate to retaliate in the face of destabilizing acts carried out against Iran's border regions.

In March of last year, Iran fired a barrage of ballistic missiles into Erbil, striking what it claimed was an Israeli target.

According to US officials, the attack was retaliation for a previously secret Israeli airstrike on an Iranian drone factory launched by Israeli intelligence operatives based in the Kurdish region.

For decades, Israel https://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/jun/29/israel-prime-minister-kurdish-independence  has maintained discreet military, intelligence, and business ties with the Kurds in northern Iraq for decades. Israel has also been a strong supporter of Kurdish independence.
