Bet you did not know that Bono was Jewish? Well, according to an exclusive in the Israeli daily Ma'ariv (lifted from the Chabad website), the U2 star has claimed that he is of the tribe.

Bono, we are told, had an alleged encounter with a Lubavitch representative on a Manhattan street. The Lubavitcher, not being a fan of '80s rock, had no idea who he was talking to, but the two got chatting.

Bono apparently claimed that his mother was Jewish and he agreed to don kippah and tefillin and recited the Shema before a large crowd. Bono is then said to have requested to keep the kippah for his forthcoming gig in Israel.

Unfortunately, there is no evidence to corroborate that this meeting ever took place, and a visit to the Bono archives confirms that his parents were Roman Catholic and Anglican respectively.

Still, we should not let the facts get in the way of what is a splendid story.

Hewson (Bono) has a Khazar-like mush and his mother's name is Rankin, which is, as far as I know, a surname not uncommon among the Jewish community. Yes his father was Anglican and his mother supposedly Catholic. However, I'm not surprised by any of this stuff. Indeed, I've suspected as much for years. For someone with such an attention-seeking gob on him, someone who jumps on the bandwagon while it is still on the assembly line, he has studiously steered clear of the Palestinian issue. That was enough to ring alarm bells for me.

I've never liked U2, I've always been a diehard Pink Floyd fan, unlike U2 Roger played 'Leaving Beirut' with a swastika and a star of david in blood red, symbolizing the deathcult state of pissrael. Bono is just like any other 'entertainer' whether Jewish or not he goes for the money.
