Something strange is going on with this family and story. The story came out of nowhere yesterday and it took over the world's airwaves and it was all an elaborate hoax.

Check out boy's father:

Agree wholeheartedly.

At a minimum, this family ought to be charged for the expenses incurred in chasing a mylar balloon across the Great State of Colorado.

But, what are we to make of the media in the coverage of this story? How is it that the father did not seem to communicate that the compartment that could hold a small child was not attached. Perhaps it never existed. The media also confirmed that the house was searched leading us all to believe that the child would be in the silver circle attached to the balloon. Or at worse, had fallen out.

It is a symptom of the sickness of the media and here is a point where I would agree with your prior assessment about Murrow and Cronkite being "real" journalists in comparison with today's syncophants.

They appear to be attention hogs and if what I think is correct, I hope they are thoroughly prosecuted.

I'm glad no one who tried to help got into a traffic accident. At least we haven't heard of it. I also hope no old ladies or men watching the coverage did not have a heart attack and die watching this irresponsible coverage.

Just like the car chases on Fox News and other Cable Outlets, this would have been better reported in the newspaper the next day.

What a blatant pre-planned diversionary tactic!  The media and the PTB Zio Masters are, more than ever, in your face deceivers.

I'll bite. Was it the fact that Congress was meeting behind closed doors to discuss the Government takeover of healthcare?

Please share.

This was sooo obviously a hoax.
This couple wants their own reality show - pure and simple.
15 minutes of fame can get you a book deal, tv show, maybe even a movie deal.
Very lame.
It's moments like this that I am glad I don't have a tv.

I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but after hearing the boy slip up and after seeing the dad I told my wife I thought that the dad came across as rather sleazy. Additionally, somebody did the math, their is no way that mylar balloon could even float a boy of his size. I have to laugh at what asses the whore frickin media made of themselves. IDIOTS

I'm not the answer man but I think Healthcare is one possibility and the vote in the UN not to block the Goldstone report for further review.

There are other events that were diverted I'm sure, and I was hoping for some suggestions.  Honest, I'm not holding out. :)

It looks like it was not the work of networks.
QuoteExclusive: I Helped Richard Heene Plan a Balloon Hoax
For the first time, 25-year-old researcher Robert Thomas reveals to Gawker how earlier this year he and Richard Heene drew up a master plan to generate a massive media controversy using a weather balloon. To get famous, of course.

Thomas spent several months earlier this year working on developing a reality science TV show to pitch to networks - the "show," Thomas says, that Falcon was referring to when he told CNN "We did it for the show." Among the ideas that Heene, Thomas and two others came up with for their reality TV proposal — and one that he says most intrigued Heene — involved a weather balloon modified to look like a UFO which they would launch in an attempt to drum up media interest in both the Heene family and the series he was desperate to get on the air. Still, Thomas never imagined that Heene would involve his six-year-old son in what he is certain was a "global media hoax" to further Richard Heene's own celebrity. Thomas' story of his time with Heene, based on an interview with Ryan Tate, follows below. It's a fascinating account and after he publicly offered to sell his story, we paid him for it.

I came to Fort Collins for school — Colorado State University. I was a Web entrepreneur, starting a few small companies that evolved into a larger scale project called Extropedia.org, an open source online encyclopedia for advancing humanity through technology and science.

Good find...

I heard his kid slip up on my satellite radio, driving home.
It was truly priceless was when Wolfie B. Started to question him about that statement, the father
went right into the liberal stance of 'I am really offended by your line of questioning'
Typical.

Free Truth

I heard they're now being charged...
 :?:

That family is damn cooky...
