BEVERLY HILLS - Director-producer Steven Spielberg will receive the Anti-Defamation League's highest honor Wednesday night at a star-studded gala when he's presented with the Democratic Legacy Award.
The event is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Beverly Hilton Hotel's International Ballroom. Hollywood luminaries expected to attend include directors J.J. Abrams and Walter Hill, Dreamworks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, producer Avi Lerner, husband-and-wife producing team Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy, veteran producer Walter Mirisch and others.

Spielberg will be honored as a champion of human rights through his film and television projects as well as his personal and private commitments to these causes, according to the ADL.

The evening's entertainment includes the controversial American Idol finalist Adam Lambert singing the National Anthem; Israeli singer-songwriter Noa Dori singing the Israeli National Anthem; opening remarks by Drew Barrymore; special remarks by Kirk Douglas; presentation of the award to Mr. Spielberg; and closing remarks by Ms. Barrymore.

Previous recipients include former presidents Ronald Reagan, Lyndon Johnson, John F. Kennedy and Harry S Truman; former U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice Earl Warren; former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger; Cardinal John O'Connor and others.

The Anti-Defamation League was founded in 1913 to fight anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry,
