The twin brothers charged with molesting and murdering a 7-year-old boy said on Friday they had nothing to do with the child's death.

The two, speaking after appearing before a Kiryat Gat magistrates court for a remand hearing, said that they were "not guilty, we're innocent."

"We didn't murder the boy, we saw him when we came out of the house and he was dying," the brothers claimed, adding that they had told their version of the incident to "the investigator and she believes us."

The attorney representing the brothers, Yaron Forer, said his clients denied any connection to the incident.

"The fact that the body was found in their room doesn't mean they had anything to do with it," Forer said, adding that it was "appropriate to wait for the results of the autopsy."

The body of Leon Kalantarov, who was reported missing since Thursday, was found before dawn Friday in the town of Bnei Ayish, just south of Rehovot.

Twin brothers in their early 20s were arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting the boy before strangling him to death.

On Thursday, police and relatives combed the area in search of the boy, who was eventually found in a home not far from that of his parents.

Police suspected that the brothers took the boy to their parents' home and choked him to death.

The family's neighbors said that community members were aware of prior incidents in which the brothers were said to have engaged in sexual harassment. Some cases were even brought to the attention of police, neighbors said.

"We were scared to let the children go outside," a Bnei Ayish resident said. "There were always rumors that [the brothers

Courts remands man suspected of killing baby daughter

The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court on Friday extended by a week the remand of a 23-year-old man who allegedly strangled his baby daughter overnight.

Nachman Anshin will undergo psychiatric evaluation over the coming days. Defense attorney Ya'akov Kaminsky said his client was not mentally fit and likely had no sane recollection of the crime he is alleged to have committed.

"I don't think he is aware right now of what happened," said Kaminsky. "He is talking in circles, and claims he is the messiah."

Baby Fruma Anshin, 8-months-old, was discovered in her parents' apartment suffering from serious physical trauma late Thursday. The infant girl was rushed to hospital, where she died of her injuries.

Authorities were summoned to the Anshins' apartment in the Shmuel Hanavi neighborhood in Jerusalem after his wife reported to police that she feared for her daughter's life.

Upon entering the apartment, police discovered the infant girl in serious condition. Investigators also noticed strangulation marks on the girl's neck.

Police suspect that Anshin assaulted the child after an argument with his wife.

Shortly after the infant's hospitalization, dozens of ultra-Orthodox Jews descended on the hospital and assaulted the policemen who were securing the perimeter of the building. Two of the assailants were arrested
