Israel on Sunday filed a formal complaint with Spain, charging that anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism are being instilled in grade-school students across parts of the country.

The Israeli embassy in Madrid has received dozens of postcards addressed to the Israeli envoy - from students ages 5 and 6 - including hand-written messages such as "Jews kill for money," "Evacuate the country for Palestinians," and "Go to someplace where someone will be willing to accept you."

According to sources in the Foreign Ministry, this is an organized campaign by officials outside the education system in Spain that have been given permission to work with the students.

The Foreign Ministry had originally planned to summon the Spanish envoy to Israel, Alvaro Iranzo, to rebuke him.

However, in an effort to prevent a diplomatic crisis, the ministry decided instead to discuss the matter with him via telephone.

Naor Gilon, the Foreign Ministry's deputy director for Western Europe, spoke with Iranzo on Sunday and said, "Israel feels strong discontent over the postcards sent by school students and views the matter with utmost gravity."

The Spanish envoy explained that the postcards were a private initiative, and not one that is part of Spain's education ministry.

Gilon said Israel understands this is not a government policy, but stressed that these types of initiatives have no place in schools and that Israel requests action be taken to have the campaign stopped.

The Israeli Embassy in Madrid has recently been received hundreds of schoolchildren's letters protesting against Tel Aviv's conduct toward the Palestinians.

One letter directed at Israel's ambassador in Madrid, Rafael Shotz, asked, "How many Palestinians have you murdered today?"
Another read, "Mr. Ambassador, you should think about not killing the Palestinian children and elderly. I don't know if it doesn't bother you, having to murder people. You should leave Palestine."

Israel has blockaded all border crossings to the Gaza Strip for more than two years. The illegal Israeli imposed blockade on the Gaza Strip, which has steadily tightened since 2007, has had a disastrous impact on the humanitarian and economic situation in the coastal enclave.

Some 1.5 million people are being denied their basic rights, including freedom of movement, and their rights to appropriate living conditions, work, health and education. Poverty and unemployment rates stand at approximately 80% and 60% respectively in the Gaza Strip.

Three weeks of Israeli air strikes and a ground incursion into the Gaza between late December 2008 and early January 2009 resulted in the death of over 1400 people — mainly women and children.

The carnage also inflicted more than $1.6 billion of damage on Gaza's economy.

In 2003 Spain's Zionist leader, Jose Maria Aznar, allied with Bush/Blair and pledged 1800 troops to Iraq to fight the "war OF terror". Up to 96% of the Spanish people opposed the Iraq War so he betrayed them. Just three days before the 2004 Spanish general election the Madrid bombings happened. It was a standard Mossad operation with some collaboration from Aznar's controlled Spanish security services. The outcome of the bombing went completely opposite of what the Zionist perpetrators wanted because the Spanish people threw out Aznar, elected a new socialist government and pulled all of their troops out of Iraq. And the new President Zapatero is probably the most ciritcal of Israel of any Spanish leader.

Spain is sounding better & better.  plus i speak some Spanish, not great Spanish but enough to talk with neighbors who don't speak English.

i didn't know what to think about the train bombing.  i was thinking maybe it was the one real act of terror.  i'll have to read that Blog spot to learn more.

when a nation like Spain wises up - why don't they respond by attacking Israel ?  maybe cause Israel has nukes.

but ... Spain hasn't even expelled the Israeli ambassador that's whining about getting letters from schoolchildren.

next thing you know ... the ADL will be listing Spanish schoolchildren on its website   :mrgreen:
