As 200,000 civil service workers strike, thousands march against cuts in Glasgow and mass strikes spread across Europe, we need to argue to bring the struggles together

The battle against cuts is on across Europe—and Britain is no exception.

Over 200,000 civil service workers struck on Monday and Tuesday, hitting jobcentres, courts, tax offices and more.

And 10,000 people poured onto the streets of Glasgow last Saturday to protest against education cuts.

This resistance is part of a fightback across Europe. Workers are fighting the idea that we should face cuts and job losses while trillions are handed to the banks.

Greece has already had two general strikes—and another was set for this Thursday.

Union leaders have called new strikes in Ireland. A dockers' strike has paralysed Finland.

And in Iceland people have voted to reject a plan to make them pay for the collapse of the Icesave bank.

We need to unite the fightback here.

In Britain, more PCS strikes are planned—and anyone with a live ballot should call action on the same day.

Imagine the impact if the British Airways cabin crew and the civil service workers came out together. And we should build solidarity between workers across Europe.

The Right to Work campaign has organised a solidarity tour with leading Greek union activist Vasilis Sylaidis. He will be speaking in four cities.

Their fight is our fight—a fight for the whole working class across Europe. Together we can beat the bosses.
