Main reason I distill all my drinking and cooking water now.  And it really does cause dental problems: Not help them.

But seriously folks, a friend just emailed me stating that they had developed a thyroid problem and it was likely (Doctor said this) caused by fluoride in drinking water.  I'm actually stunned that a medical Doctor would admit to this even though the information is commonly accepted among we tin foil hat types.

My friend, barely a novice re: real world info, vaguely remembered me mentioning that I distill my water because of fluoride.  NOW the information I had shared a couple of years ago becomes pertinent.  And so it goes...unfortunately it often takes real life trauma to effect knowledge and cause change.

I've heard that reverse osmosis is the only way to get rid of fluoride.  Is that what you use?

Ditillation is what I use and that process leaves everything behind but volatiles with a boiling point lower than H2O.  Fluorosilicic acid, the most common additive to water supplies:

Fluoride is not released from water when it is boiled or frozen. One exception would be a water distillation system. These systems heat water to the boiling point and then collect water vapor as it evaporates. Water distillation systems are typically used in laboratory installations. For home use these systems can be expensive and may present safety and maintenance concerns.

QuoteMolecular formula: H2SiF6 Relative molecular mass: 144.09 Character: Its water solvent is colorless transparent fuming liquid, the relative density:about 1.32%, boiling point: 108.5oC. It has pungent smell, volatilization and disinfection, soluble in water.

Notice that the boiling point is "slightly" higher than water; sneaky bastards.  High enough not to evaporate through distillation.

QuoteNON-FLUORIDATED WATER

Industrial quality reverse osmosis water brings the total dissolved solids down to less that one part per million for all the pollutants that might be in there. Distilled water will remove 99% of the fluoride all of the time. I also recommend a pre-charcoal filter on a distiller to remove volatiles so that you are not getting noxious gases in your home. These are worse when you inhale them than when you drink them, because they go right into your blood stream and into your lungs. You can buy your water at the supermarket, but quite frankly you don't know what the quality of the water is. You must take care that the fluoride concentration is less than 0.2 ppm. Some spring waters like Vichy (which contains 8 ppm) are notoriously high in fluoride. Avoid beverages such as soft drinks, beer and fruit juices from concentrate that have been bottled in fluoridated areas. Teas, even brewed in fluoride-free water will contain about 1.2 to 2.4 ppm fluoride. Some people drink 8 to 15 cups of tea a day, and these amounts are large enough to cause dental fluorosis and other harmful effects.
http://www.energyfortoday.com/new312755.html

QuoteIf you stop taking fluoride, your body will get rid of it eventually. The fluoride that gets stuck in your bones gets stuck there for life pretty much, but that is not necessarily bad. Where fluoride has adverse effects is in the soft tissues. If you take over 200 mg of vitamin C per day that is all you really need for removing fluoride. In three to six months you should have about 99% of it out which is good enough.

QuoteOver 50% of the communities in the United States use fluorosilicic acid (H2SiF6) or sodium fluorosilicate (Na2SiF6) to fluoridate drinking water. Neither the USEPA nor U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention can provide one safety study proving the product is safe for long-term, low-level consumption. Not one clinical study with animal models has ever been done with the products.

Both fluorosilicic acid (FSA) and sodium fluorosilicate (SFS) are derived from pollution scrubbing operations from phosphoric acid production. The pollution scrubber liquor is a unique product derived from a specific process with unique toxicological characteristics. The presence of chlorides, amines, diesel fuel, kerosene, sulfides, reagents, metals (including arsenic, lead, aluminum, uranium-238 and its decay rate products, etc.), phosphorus and other toxic reactants create a specific product in which FSA is the active ingredient. FSA only comprises about 23% of the total pollution concentrate. It is a highly corrosive acid which can react with most organic and inorganic substances to form many different complexes and possibly very toxic fluorides. I state again, not one safety study has been done with these particular products.

There are many factors involved in the creation of the FSA. Once an insight is gained about how the phosphoric acid is made, the FSA becomes even more frightening. Other chemicals are added such as oil based defoamers (possibly containing dioxins), polymers, petroleum products, naphthalene, chlorides, sulfides, Synspar and various reagents. During the phosphoric acid concentration processes, these added chemicals and inherent toxic contaminants common in phosphate rock are boiled off the acid in a partial vacuum at very high temperatures, about 500 degrees F. The vapors from all these chemicals are washed and captured in the pollution scrubbers along with the fluorine and fluorosilicate gases.

Christopher, let's examine the following statement:

QuoteNON-FLUORIDATED WATER

Industrial quality reverse osmosis water brings the total dissolved solids down to less that one part per million for all the pollutants that might be in there. Distilled water will remove 99% of the fluoride all of the time. I

Currently the tap water in my dwelling has 6.4 PPM (parts per million) of H2SiF6.  I personally obtained this figure from Mr. Jeff Childers-Operations Manager at the Dyal Water Treatment Plant in Brevard/Orange County FL, which produces my water.  I know Mr. Childers through years of business transactions.  The 6.4 PPM is also 6.4 mg (milligrams) per liter (1000 grams H2O).

If one uses Reverse Osmosis and it reduces solids down to 1 PPM the the net H2SiF6 (Fluorosilicic Acid) is now 1 PPM, reduced down from 6.4 PPM.  In percentages this is a 84% reduction.  Water distillation eliminates 99% of the solids present which means:  .01 X 6.4 PPM = .064 PPM

Therefore distallation leaves .064 PPM versus 1 PPM with Reverse Osmosis.  Or, in percentages, 93.6% less Fuorosilicic Acid with Distillation versus Reverse Osmosis in my example.  Now, I have not tested my distilled water and I am using generalized results but I do feel better about distillation based on these general efficiencies between RO and Distilling.  BTW, the general level of H2SiF6 added is 6 PPM nationwide.

This is an alarming bit of information that appears greatly understated.  What this means is that ALL documented studies of Fluoride effects upon animals and plants have been conducted using the fluoride Ionic form of NaF (Sodium Fluoride).  H2SiF6 is also ionic but is: 2H+  +  SiF6-. This SiF6- has not been tested!!!!    I would suspect that SiF6 is much more reactive by a magnitude!  Each negative ION has 6 (SIX) Fluorine atoms instead of one (ONE).  This Fuoroslicic Acid will Etch Glass, dissolve concrete and it is an extremely hazardous substance.

Interesting tidbit regarding the reactivity of Fluorine.  Valium (Diazepam), an often over prescribed sedative, has the following chemical name:

7-chloro-1,3-dihydro-
1-methyl-5-phenyl-
1,4-benzodiazepin-2(3H)-one

If a chemical process Substitutes the Chlorine atom (the number 7 preceding the chloro is a Position designation not a Quantity designation) with one Fluorine atom and one added Nitro group, one ends up with a NEW drug called Flunitrazepam or commonly known as the DATE RAPE drug Rohypnol.  Ruffies-50 times stronger in it's sedative effect that Valium.  Knocks a person out with the added bonus of memory loss.

I'm just trying to illustrate that Fluorine is an extremely reactive element and it will displace Calcium and Chlorine atoms in the Human body: Permanently.

The antibiotics Ciporol and the 2nd generation Levoquin are essentially ordinary anti-biotics with a Fluorine atom added.  If a Doctor prescribes these anti-biotics REFUSE them.  Do a search on these and discover the extreme adverse reactions, often permanent, such as torn ligaments and bone breakages in healthy young adults (Brittle bones and ligaments  due to Fluorine substituting for Calcium).  Doctors are now supposed to ask whether or not you are "physically" active prior to prescribing!

QuoteOur History

ClearTech had its origins as Prairie Industrial Chemicals Ltd. which was founded in 1977 to distribute chemicals from a Saskatoon chlor-alkali manufacturer. A corporate re-organization in 1992 turned Prairie Industrial Chemicals into a holding company, and PrairieChem Inc. took over the original chemical business.

While originally active in Canada's three Prairie provinces, acquisitions as well as internal growth expanded the geography that the company covered. Canadian Miraclean Products, a bleach manufacturer and chlorine packager located in Richmond, British Columbia, was acquired in 1996. Fryston Canada Inc., an Ontario based distributor of water treatment instrumentation and industrial air and vacuum systems, joined two years later. In 2000, the company acquired the business of Carbon and Filtration Products of Toronto.

These companies continued to operate under their own name until 2000, when PrairieChem adopted the current name, ClearTech Industries Inc. and established it as the common corporate identity at all locations.

The following year, ClearTech reached an agreement with Welland Chemicals Ltd. to assume the management of Welland's chlorine business in Ontario and Quebec.

Today, ClearTech is a name recognized throughout Canada for Responsible Distribution of chemical products, as well as analytical and process equipment.

This is a fluoride thread from the archive, May 2008 viewtopic.php?f=18&t=561
and here's a snip from the first post
Quote" Much of the original proof that fluoride is safe for humans in low doses was generated by A-bomb program scientists, who had been secretly ordered to provide "evidence useful in litigation" against defense contractors for fluoride injury to citizens. The first lawsuits against the U.S. A-bomb program were not over radiation, but over fluoride damage, the documents show."

" Human studies were required. Bomb program researchers played a leading role in the design and implementation of the most extensive U.S. study of the health effects of fluoridating public drinking water--conducted in Newburgh, New York from 1945 to 1956. Then, in a classified operation code-named "Program F," they secretly gathered and analyzed blood and tissue samples from Newburgh citizens, with the cooperation of State Health Department personnel."

" The original secret version--obtained by these reporters--of a 1948 study published by Program F scientists in the Journal of the American Dental Association shows that evidence of adverse health effects from fluoride was censored by the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) --considered the most powerful of Cold War agencies-- for reasons of national security."

" The bomb program's fluoride safety studies were conducted at the University of Rochester, site of one of the most notorious human radiation experiments of the Cold War, in which unsuspecting hospital patients were injected with toxic doses of radioactive plutonium. The fluoride studies were conducted with the same ethical mind-set, in which "national security" was paramount. "

" The U.S. government's conflict of interest--and its motive to prove fluoride "safe" -- has not until now been made clear to the general public in the furious debate over water fluoridation since the 1950's, nor to civilian researchers and health professionals, or journalists."

So it seems the government and their contractors had (and still have) a strong fiscal incentive in "whitewashing" the whole fluoride story.

How Fluoride Causes Hypothyroidism

[youtube:3j9uy0eq]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkJuWLMaoG0[/youtube]3j9uy0eq]

The thyroid gland manufactures the hormones that help control metabolism and growth.

What Causes Overweight and Obesity?

Health Conditions

Some hormone problems may cause overweight and obesity, such as underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), Cushing's syndrome, and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).

Underactive thyroid is a condition in which the thyroid gland doesn't make enough thyroid hormone. Lack of thyroid hormone will slow down your metabolism and cause weight gain. You'll also feel tired and weak.

Hypothyroidism [...] is a condition in which the thyroid gland does not make enough thyroid hormone. (a deficiency of thyroid hormone).

Severe hypothyroidism in infants can result in cretinism.

Neurodevelopmental disorder

A neurodevelopmental disorder, or disorder of neural development, is an impairment of the growth and development of the brain or central nervous system. A narrower use of the term refers to a disorder of brain function that affects emotion, learning ability and memory and that unfolds as the individual grows. The term is sometimes erroneously used as an exclusive synonym for autism and autism spectrum disorders.

Disorders considered to be neurodevelopmental in origin or to have neurodevelopmental consequences when they occur in infancy and childhood include autism and autism spectrum disorders such as Asperger syndrome, traumatic brain injury (including congenital injuries such as those that cause cerebral palsy), communication, speech and language disorders, genetic disorders such as fragile-X syndrome, and Down syndrome. Neurodevelopmental disorders are associated with widely varying degrees of mental, emotional, physical and economic burden to individuals, families and society in general.
