Mitochondrial Disease and Systemic Yeast Infection Treatment Protocol by Lindsey

Over the next couple of days, I will be putting-up my full treatment protocol that I was forced to design because the doctors could do nothing to help me in the treatment of mitochondrial-disease, and I am also dealing with systemic yeast infection, so I will be including that here, as well.

I will share all of my research with all of you, explaining how organs and body-functions/systems begin to fail, and how "I" have reversed these conditions and have kept them from progressing any further on "my" own body.  I will go into detail about what each of the 52--and counting--supplements, vitamins, minerals, amino-acids, and super-foods that I take each day does, how much I take, how often I take it/them, and any side-effects or contra-indications that I have personally experienced during my personal experimentation.  I will give my complete schedule, beginning from whatever time I first wake-up, to the last thing(s) that I take before I go to sleep, and give the length of time that is necessary before eating a meal, and/or taking another set of supplements, et al.

This is as real and serious as it gets for me, and I am now comfortable enough, and WELL ENOUGH, to share this with the world, and I sincerely hope that me sharing my experiences fighting various ailments due to one super/underlying ailment/condition, will encourage others  not to give-up when a doctor tells you to "go home and die."

The language and terminology that I will share with all of you will, at times, be medical, but I will do the best that I can to simplify it, and I will include notations of where you can go to read more about each organ, system-process, etc., so as to make my sharing of what I have found as simple as possible.

I AM NOT A DOCTOR, NOR AM I GIVING MEDICAL ADVICE.  I AM SHARING WHAT "I" DID TO KEEP MYSELF ALIVE WHEN THE DOCTORS COULD DO NOTHING ELSE FOR ME, AND ONE WENT SO FAR AS TO TELL ME TO "GO HOME AND DIE."  I know that it was his INTENTION to say "go home and make your final-preparations," but that is not what he said, and instead of giving-up and passing-away, I took his mis-translation as the greatest challenge of my--literally--my life, and feel confident enough to say that I no longer worry every single day about passing-away in my sleep, and my recent medical report showing that my ECG--electrical impulses and rhythm of/for my heart--are now "NORMAL!!!!"  This is the first "normal" that I have ever received since have to have ECG's done, with the others being "borderline" or "abnormal," and both problems were focused on anomalies in the sinus T-wave, which basically means that my heart was not getting enough energy to produce a normal rhythm, and was forced to "skip-beats" in order to conserve as much energy as possible in-order to not go into failure.

Anyway, this will be an extremely in-depth, and very personal, glimpse into my struggle to overcome a diagnosis where I was literally on my death-bed, to now slowly-but-surely overcoming each and every organ abnormality that was present due to this genetic-disease that presents damage and symptoms that are organ-specific, as some organs are affected, while others are not, due to whatever DNA mutation is present, and basically whatever "form" of mitochondrial-disease a person has.

For those of you who are going to say, "OH!  I have nothing to fear from something like that!" it is my very strong contention, and I said this directly to Dr. Sarah Myhill, who is one of the, if not THE, world's authority on this class of disease, that I believe that "chronic fatigue syndrome" (CFS) and its related classes of symptomatic-diseases affecting energy-levels in the system, are merely a different form of mitochondrial-disease that may not be nearly as debillitating or dangerous, but DO gravely impact a person's life to the point where many of them are no longer able to function in such a way as to make their state-of-being almost, or actually, dis-abled.  Having said this, there are MANY millions of human-beings who have symtoms of, or have been directly diagnosed with, chronic-fatigue syndrome (CFS), and that means that--in "MY" very strong opinion--THAT THERE ARE MANY MILLIONS OF HUMAN-BEINGS WHOSE DNA CODE HAS BEEN MUTATED, AND THEIR MITOCHONDRIA ARE NO LONGER WORKING EFFICIENTLY TO PRODUCE THE ENERGY NECESSARY FOR THEM TO LIVE NORMAL LIVES.  I should note that Lyme disease is not included as CFS because there is a known causal-mechanism for the malady as it is due to a bacteria; therefore, it does not have the same anomalous characteristics as does the collective symptomatic-disease known as "CFS," or chronic-fatigue syndrome.

Again, I am not a doctor, and anything and everything that I say is my "opinion" or "belief, AND MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE AFTER RIGOROUS SELF-EXPERIMENTATION, unless I provide accompanying information verifying the claim, and then you can decide if the information provided is to be taken for what I have taken it to be.

NB:  I will, when I am able, have Dr. Myhill help me with all of this as a patient of her, but that will be in the near-future because it is quite expensive for me and I have had to stay focused on the cost of the supplements and everything else associated with being un-able to work for 15 months.  Until then, everything that I have found that is not a personal experience of mine will be from medical-journals, various sites detailing what nutrients do what for the body, etc.

After a computer melt-down, moving, visiting friends and family in various states, and just generally not having the time to sit-down and write out my protocol/regimen--NOT IN ANY PARTICULAR ORDER!!!--I am now finally getting this information out as promised.

This is a very in-depth regimen that, using the best information that I could find from online medical journals, independent experimentation from researchers who published their work in various media, message-boards and posts from people who were suffering from different problems with the same organs that were affected from my disease, and many other sources, appears to be helping keep the various organs affected from worsening and improve them, reverse the oxidation from lactic-acidosis, and keep my energy-level at a tolerable level, although it is still un-stable.  Because I was left to treat myself since one of the five (5) doctors I was seeing told me to, "Go home and die," and the doctors could only ever do blood-tests, I spent three solid weeks researching everything that I could find about mitochondrial dysfunctions and what was happening to my entire body in a literally desperate effort to keep myself from passing-away, beginning from September 1, 2011, when I was simply too sick to continue working, to the 22nd or 23rd when I finalized my original protocol, which has been improved with the addition of many more supplements and amino-acids that are contributing the overall improvement of my health.

There are many symptoms that I experienced, and I will now go throught the list of organs affected, and what exactly the symptoms experienced with those organs are/were.

Brain--ataxia (loss of coordination and balance from abnormalities in the cerebellum), mind-fog which has kept my IQ much lower than it was previously, makes my mind black/blank much of the time, and the in-ability to think as quickly as I could previously, headaches in the frontal region which have now all but dis-appeared, but at one time would manifest every other day or so and were excruciating--cause was never identified, except as possible transient lesions or from the acidosis.  It should also be noted that my mind felt as sluggish and fatigued from the moment that I awakened, to the time that I went to sleep, before I added certain supplments to my protocol.  It is still sluggish, but there is dramatic improvement compared to baseline without the additional supplementation, as will be addressed in the protocol shown.

Eyes--the eyes are the clearest physical indicator that something is wrong with me, still to this day, due to the eyes being so sensitive to metabolic changes.  Continuously, there is a characteristic in my vision that all that I see is NEVER crisp and clear as it should be, but is replaced with an almost grainy/hazy aura that is eerily similar to what happens to us all when we first awaken.  All of you know that feeling when you first awaken, and you have to rub your eyes in-order for your vision to begin to return to normal, and that is what I experience all day, every day, although it is not as bad as it may sound, but there is simply no better way for me to describe this vision abnormality.  There are dark rings around my eyes, that has improved with time due to my supplementation, but have never gone away, and that is due to me being in a constant state of fatigue from lack of normal energy-production.  Both eyes have a glassy appearance most of the time, much like what you would see from someone extremely tired or on an in-toxicant, but, again, is a tell-tale sign of a metabolic disturbance in someone who exhibits that symptom continuously.  The eyes change color from hazel to green to blue, and that lasts for weeks-on-end, and I have not yet found a reason for that change, but I WILL discuss this with the opthamologist and add a note here after I receive a satisfactory explanation.  Also, my vision is "slow" in that it takes my eyes a fraction of a second to focus when looking in a different direction, whereas previously I was able to look in all directions quickly with no real discernable change in vision.  Finally, I have a very strong sensitivity to light, and have to wear dark sun-glasses whenever I go outside.

Heart--this was the most frightening of all symptoms and organs affected for me because of the knowledge at the time that it was failing rapidly and at the time there was absolutely nothing that I could find to do about it.  Once the symptoms began, they quickly worsened in the weeks that followed, to the point where I was literally not able to feel a pulse much of the time due to the weakness of the electrical-system and cardiac-function that all of us take for granted.  This symptom began at the end of July 2011, and VERY quickly degenerated to the point where I would wake-up in the middle of my sleep gasping for air because my heart was failing in my sleep.  The very worst of it occurred right before I began taking large amounts of CoQ10 as ubiquinol, and ubiquinone originally because that was all that was available, in the last week of August or first week of September.  At this time, my breathing was constantly labored due to a severe disturbance of cardiac-function and lack of adequate oxygenation due to a very weak electrical signal on the muscle, but as soon as I increased the dose of CoQ10--either as ubiquinone but preferably as ubiquinol, cardiac-function improved dramatically to the point where my last ECG taken on my birthday, November 26th, 2012, showed NORMAL CARDIAC FUNCTION!  That was a truly marvelous birthday gift, and I am still stunned when I think about that level of improvement, as all the other ECG's showed "borderline" or "abnormal" cardiac-function, all with sinus T-wave abnormalities.  I also wanted to note that my cardiac-system is occassionally bradychardic, which means that the heart-rate is below normal, but that has greatly improved whereas previously it was constantly in a state of severe bradychardia.

Skin--the most noticeable symptom physically something is wrong with the largest organ of the body, my skin, is shown in various blemishes that resemble freckles all over my body.  I also developed many moles that began as "pimples", and I will be seeing a dermatologist as to why this has happened.  It MAY be due to the yeast, but may also be due to lack of proper metabolism, so I will have write an addition after I have a proper determination as to the cause and exactly what this condition is.  My skin is not able to expel heat quickly, so I always feel extremely un-comfortable in overly warm or hot environments, and that is one of the main reasons that I always prefer to stay inside the home with the fan and air-conditioning on 24/7.  Something else that I found to be extremely bizarre is that the hair on my arms and legs has grown considerably and rapidly, and again, the cause of this mutation is un-known, but is not coincidence.  Finally, for a while when I was CONSTANTLY fighting the lactic-acidosis, the pimples all over my body were becoming a real problem, but as of many months ago have completely gone away.  They were mainly on my back, side, and extremities, and while not as bad as the condition could be when dealing with a body that is dangerously acidic, were not something that anyone would want on their bodies.

Muscles--the lactic-acidosis was most prominently featured in my calves, the muscle below what we think of the calves that is between the calf and tendon known as the flexor digitorum longus, and the various muscles that form the arch of the foot.  The pain, when even walking relatively short distances, would become so severe that I would be forced to sit-down until it subsided, and then continue to wherever I was intending to go.  It happened very rapidly, and without any warning, and the burning sensation could last literally for days depending on the amount of exertion of the muscle(s).  My strength was also severely affected due to my in-ability to exercise because of the rapid build-up of lactate in my muscles from anaerobic respiration, which means that the main means of energy-production were exhausted, and now had to switch to the extremely in-effective form that rapidly creates, as a waste-product, lactic acid, which when accumulated in the body too quickly to be neutralized and expelled, creates a potentially fatal condition known as lactic-acidosis.  What makes it so dangerous is that it can quickly create hypoxia--lack of sufficient oxygen in the blood/body--due to it being an acid and taking precious oxygen molecules away from where they need to be, and now that my acidosis is under almost complete control, my breathing has improved and I NEVER feel that horrible burning and tortuous sensation in my muscles that at times, felt as if someone was beating them with a rod.  Imagine lifting weights until you reach "muscle-failure" from lactate build-up, but then were having to force yourself to continue despite that.  The pain was something that NO ONE could imagine unless and until he/she experienced it, and I would never want any human-being to go through that.

Hair--my hair RAPIDLY turned white, beginning on the sides, then to the front, then everywhere else, including on my body.  Several individual hairs, also, no doubt due to some form of mutagenic transformation, began to grow incredibly long, sometimes as long as two inches; those hairs were most often found on my legs, but some on my eye-brows had grown to nearly one inch at the worst of this period.  Once I began to vigorously treat my condition, my hair began to revert back to its normal color, the hair length stabilized, and now the white hairs are really only found on the sides around my ears and are very few and far between elsewhere on my head and body, compared to the general-condition that was emerging due to the oxidation of my entire body from lactic-acidosis.  What can NOT be explained by the severe oxidation of my system is the mutation that was causing several hairs to grow to enormous lengths that had never before been seen on my body, and that is something else that will need to be explained in the future, and I will share the determination with you once it has been made.

Joints--after doing any kind of distance walking that would carry on for ten minutes or more, or after I was stabilized and did any kind of dance-exercises or lifting weights, my joints would become very swollen/inflamed, and after heavy dance-exercising, I would be in excruciating pain from WHOLE-BODY inflammation, sometimes lasting two (2) days or so.  I can understand the inflammation of the joints, but to have almost all of the joints and muscles in my body become inflammed seemed to be related to acidosis, but that is un-clear as of now.  I found that taking 12 grams--12,000 mg.--of standardized 95% curcumin mixed in oil and taken with food in two divided-doses made the inflammation all-but-disappear if taken daily and with no skipped doses/days.  I also found that taking very large doses of glucosamine and chondroitin, along with other supplements that will be covered in my full-protocol release, proved absolutely essential in seemingly reversing any damage done as now I have absolutely no inflammation after doing exercises of any sort, except for general aches and pains from building-up muscle, which is normal.  

Alcohol and MSG--while not a part of my body, this is definitely something that I am obligated to include as the change in the way that my body handled these two poisons became something that almost no one could believe unless it had happened to them.  I could always drink socially with little problem as long as I did not drink too much, and as for the neuro-toxin MSG, or mono-sodium glutatate/free-glutamic acid, the only thing that it ever really did that was noticeable to me was make my nose run and make me stay hungry, as it does for almost anyone.  Having said that, once this disease went full-tilt-boogie in July/August, not only could I not drink ANY alcohol, I had to avoid MSG like it was literally going to kill me!  When I drank alcohol, I could only drink small amounts and felt that in-toxicated feeling, but three (3) hours or so after having consumed it, I would then have horrible side-effects like heart palpitations, much worse fatigue, much worse brain-fog, and basically the worst alcohol-poisoning symptoms that you could imagine from those of you who have ever drank so much that it was literally causing serious problems with you.  It now appears that it was the waste-product and powerful poison acetyldehyde that was creating this effect, and it may be more related to the problem with systemic candidiasis (yeast-infection) than mitochondrial myopathy.  Acetyldehyde is the waste-product of alcohol being metabolized by the body, and is what creates the symptoms that you experience when you have a hang-over.  As for MSG, the worst effects that you have heard from people who are dangerously sensitive to that poison are precisely what I now experience when I eat foods that contain large amounts of MSG, aka free-glutamic acid, like Doritos, Chinese food, and basically any and all heavily processed foods that we all know and find so devilishly delicious.  My symptoms from MSG-poisoning are panic-attacks, itching over large parts of my body, vision troubles/difficulty focusing, dilated pupils, severe increase in blood-pressure causing my fact and extremities to turn bright red, severe runny-nose, the feeling that my "brain tingled," very serious tachycardia with my heart racing to nearly 130 bpm leading to chronic palpitations, and shaking in my hands as if I had gone into shock.  When-ever/if-ever I know that I will be consuming ANYTHING that probably/possibly has the POISON MSG in it, I ALWAYS take one (1) to two (2) grams of the amino-acid TAURINE, which is an antidote to MSG because it binds to the same glutamate receptors and keeps them from firing to the point of death/hyper-activity.  

I will now briefly give the time-line of when the symptoms began, how they progressed, and then will present my full-protocol of how I treated them.

For many years, I had what is now known as chronic-fatigue syndrome, or "CFS," but it was NEVER debillitating or really made my life abnormal in any really noticeable way.  All that ever happened was a feeling of general fatigue and "laziness" and just wanting to take a break after doing something that would be deemed strenuous to any normal person, but that very rapidly awakened into something that can only be described as nightmarish.  My CFS began in 2002 or so when I was 24 or 25, and I just learned to accept it as part of my life, although the doctors never treated me for it even AFTER I was proven to have tested positively for the Epstein-Barr virus, which appears to be a real indicator of CFS as a disease.  Fast-forward to the first week of January, 2011, and then my whole life changed for the worse.  On or about the 6th--I say this because I did not go to work teaching the next day and was off for the next few days, so it MUST have been that Thursday--I awoke with what I BELIEVED was a hang-over after having a pizza party with my some friends and having had rum liquor throughout the night, but never enough to have caused any kind of hang-over because I simply could never drink enough to bring one on me, but what I experienced was a feeling that was simply dis-abling.  When I tried to stand, I would lose my balance and begin to feel as if I was falling, and I could not clearly focus as my eyes were some-how affected by whatever had happened to me.  I was terrified, but "knew" that it MUST have been a God-awful hang-over from drinking and having iced-cream and pizza the night previously, so I just called-in legitimately sick and went back to sleep hoping that everything would be better when I awakened.  I slept for many more hours and finally awakened at 1 PM or so and called my fiancee that I was not feeling "right" but not to worry and that I was sure to feel better by the time that she came to see me.  I did NOT feel "right" but the ataxia had subsided somewhat, although I was still not steady and was extremely worried about why I was feeling this way.  I should also note that I did not have insurance and did not even consider going to the hospital because my constitution was so strong that I just "KNEW" that I was going to get better quickly, and that it was probably just the flu or something like that and I would be back-to-normal in a few days.

Well, Monday came and I went to work and did all of my high-energy teaching and had a great day and time, but I was STILL not steady from the ataxia and was beginning to notice that my brain was not fast as it usually always was, but I just tried to move past that and hoped to get better.  The symptoms waxed and waned until July, and then something frighteningly unusual happened.  I could always walk for many hours, sometimes for 10 hours or so, walking up to distances of 35 miles in one (1) day over a 16- or 17-hour period one time.  On this particular day in early July--a Saturday--I was walking in the city of Bangkok as I usually did for exercise and to see things that I had not seen previously, and then I started noticing that my muscles in my feet and lower-legs were starting to hurt, as if they were cramping.  I ignored it and kept going thinking that I would "shake-it-off" and that it was just from the heavy exercise of walking for several hours that day, which really did not make sense because I was used to doing this and MUCH more.  As I kept walking, the pain intensified, and I started to have noticeable difficulty breathing, although it was not anything that would be considered an emergency.  I rested by sitting-down, and took some water from my bag, drank it, and ate some fruit to see if that would make things better, but the pain was still there.  I then decided that I had done enough and then went on my way to home, but that was the first day that the lactic-acidosis began and stayed with me from that point forward.

From that day in July, the acidosis would become more and more pronounced until it reached a point where I absolutely could not walk long-distance, and even going-up stairs was a real challenge due to the pain that was almost immediately result in my calves and muslces below them.  It was about this time, a week or so after the acidosis became pronounced, about the middle of July, that my heart palpitations and cardiac disturbances showed just how precarious my situation was.  I had gone to the doctor at this point because I then knew that I was in serious danger from SOMETHING that was causing all of these symptoms, but had absolutely no idea what it could be.  The doctor ran some tests, but nothing came back definitively as being the cause, but my ECG was "borderline" and I was scheduled for more appointments.  The next time that I went they did nearly SIXTY (60) blood-tests, and only three (3) of those tests showed anything that would be abnormal.  The first was my CPK count, which is an indicator of heart-failure or previous heart-attack, and the count was 267, which while above normal, was too low for an apparent heart-attack.  The second was my Vitamin D level which was SEVENTEEN (17) ng/dl, and the minimum is thirty (30) ng/dl.  However, despite those two abnormalities, the defining result was my lactate level AT-REST.  When you exercise heavily, it is normal to have a high lactate level because your mitochondria are naturally producing lactic-acid as a waste-product of anaerobic energy-production because the aerobic energy-production has been exhausted; however, at-rest there should be almost NO excess lactate in the blood-stream.  The maximum level of lactate--lactic acid--in the blood when at-rest at the time of testing is 2.2.  MY LACTATE LEVEL AT-REST WAS 4.2, which was two (2) times the MAXIMUM level that should ever be seen when doing blood-work.  

At that point, it was now definitely known that I was in a desperate situation, and once the doctor saw that result, it was apparent that I was in very serious danger and that apparently the only thing that would be causing my body to go into continual anaerobic respiration was a mitochondrial disease, like MELAS, or any one of the other disease sub-sets in the family of mitochondrial myopathies, but I still was not fully aware of how threatening this was to my life because everything was happening so quickly and I was so healthy before all of this that I could not comprehend exactly what he was telling me.  THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is cognitive-dissonance in its purest form, and as the conversation continued, I quickly realized what all of this meant, and the terror of basically being told that I am dying and that there is almost nothing that can be done made me feel as if I was going to vomit.

After that period of dis-orientation passed, I asked him what could be done to save me, and he said that it was not his area of expertise, and so I had several appointments made for the neurologist, geneticist, and muscle-specialist, in-order to find a way to reverse the damage that was being done to my body from oxidation, to keep my heart from failing, and to provide enough energy to my mitochondria to keep my entire system from collapsing just from merely being alive due to the general lack of energy-production available to support life-functions.  He DID tell me that CoQ10 was what he knew I would have to take immediately as this is one of the key enzymes for energy-production, so the very first thing that I did when I left was go to the local pharmacy and purchased all of the CoQ10 that they had so that I would be sure to have it in case I could not find it when I needed it.  I then IMMEDIATELY went to http://www.puritan.com and ordered I believe 16 bottles of ubiquinol, which is the better form of CoQ10 as it is already in the state that the body can absorb it most easily, and prayed to God that nothing happened to me while I waited for the bottles to arrive.  

My full protocol:

Before I detail what I take, when I take it, and how I take it, I want to briefly cover what tools I use.  One (1) 16 ounce glass cup.  It is critically important that only glass is used because many of the supplements that I take are very acidic and anything else would have problems over long-term use.  One (1) silver rounded tea-spoon that can hold approximately five (5) grams of dry product.  Most tea-spoons are between three (3) to five (5) grams capacity in their "scoop", but size does not really matter because I only really use it for stirring when I have to take something using the glass; also, I can substitue my silver tea-spoon for a SOLID STEEL ONE, but those are the only two metals that I would ever use for this purpose.  I ONLY EVER DRINK REVERSE-OSMOSIS (RO) WATER OR DISTILLED WATER.  I ALWAYS have one (1) gallon of water from the RO machine at the local health-food store, and never trust machines from the big-chain grocery stores nor do I trust the machines from those "super" department store chains, as more than once I have received horrible TAP-WATER!!!! from those machines because they were obviously not properly maintained.  Solid-steel measuring-spoons purchased at a local big-chain department-store.  The sizes necessary are as follows:  TAD-1/4 tea-spoon average volume, and one (1) gram average mass; DASH-1/8 tea-spoon average volume, and 500 mg. average mass; PINCH--1/12 or 1/16 tea-spoon average volume--almost always 1/16 tea-spoon, but occasionally can be found to be 1/12--and 250 mg. or 325 mg. average mass; and SMIDGEN--1/32 tea-spoon average volume, and 125 mg. average mass.  Separately from this set I also use one (1) TABLESPOON (Tbl) solid steel spoon which is 15 g. average mass when level, and one (1) solid steel TEASPOON (tsp), which provides an average of four (4) g. average mass when level.  I use 91% isopropyl alcohol to clean bi-weekly my utensils, aside from normal cleaning after each use, and have several small containers for storing my supplements when I need to take the most important ones with me when travelling.

Morning:  Upon awakening, the very first thing that I do is take one (1) tablespoon (Tbl) of "NUTIVA ORGANIC EXTRA VIRGIN COCONUT OIL" and swiss it in my mouth for 15 minutes.  This is known as "oil pulling" and is done to remove yeast, bacteria, toxins, and other nasty baddies out of my mouth, gums, and teeth that accumulate in the night.  For those of you who think that this is "silly," I STRONGLY encourage you to research oil-pulling and its benefits, and I will provide you one such video that explains it in more detail:  [youtube:23mk4fid]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQe8etKJ9a4[/youtube]23mk4fid]  The woman is quite nice to watch, too, but listen to what she is saying and not how attractive she is.  Anyway, after fifteen (15) minutes of swishing this in my mouth, I SPIT IT OUT!  I would NEVER, EVER swallow this toxic mixture as all of that nasty stuff is accumulated in the oil, and would cause a real problem in the GI-tract.  After I spit out the oil--most preferably in the garbage in my home and NEVER outside as animals could eat it, nor would I spit it out in the sink as oil accumulates there and can clog it up--I rinse my mouth out several times with warm RO water, and then brush my teeth with sodium bicarbonate (baking-soda) for a few minutes.  30 minutes after doing the oil-pulling, I then take 3/4 tsp. sodium bicarbonate--I use Arm and Hammer brand--,two (2) Tbs "BRAGG'S ORGANIC APPLE CIDER VINEGAR", which I keep in the refrigerator, and 1/4 tsp. of "MORTON'S NO SALT SALT" which is potassium chloride, providing 650 mg. of elemental potassium.  I started out taking half that amount when I began, and then increased the amount to this final dosage.  I take the potassium because of the very large dose of sodium that the baking-soda provides, and to ensure that I am getting an adequate amount of potassium in my diet, and I believe that this is the best way to do it since potassium is paired with sodium, and calcium is paired with magnesium.  I put this in my 16 ounce glass and VERY QUICKLY add RO water that is at room-temperature, as it always is when I take supplements unless otherwise said.  After a few seconds of stirring and seeing that there is no sediment of sodium bicarbonate, I drink half and then another 12 ounces of water in a separate cup, and then after 15 minutes, I drink that other half with another 12 ounces of water.  This is taken for treating my candidiasis, but is also used for keeping my lactic acidosis under control.  I have had ZERO lactic acid-attacks or incidents of feelings of hypoxia since I have been doing this, and it has been over three (3) months now.  I must also not that I started taking this VERY SLOWLY, and only took 1/4 tsp. of baking soda and one (1) Tbs. of ACV for one week once per day, and increased the dosage more each week as I became more comfortable with the dosage.  After 15-30 minutes, I take three (3) g. of beta alanine, which I take to control my acidosis.  It increases the amount of l-carnintine in the muscles, and that is used to control the lactic-acid build-up when lactic-acidosis begins to develop.  It is important to note that a small amount of food or something to increase blood-sugar is taken to ensure the full-activation of beta-alanine in the system.

I wait one (1) hour after taking the baking-soda and ACV, and then I eat 1/2 cup of "MOUNTAIN HIGH ORIGINAL STYLE ALL NATURAL PLAIN FULL-FAT YOGHURT."  This provides five (5) live and active probiotic bacteria, which is essential for healthy digestion.  After eating this, I then immediately take one (1) level Tbs. of HEALTHFORCE SUPERFOODS VITAMINERAL GREEN VERSION 5.2, which I purchased from http://www.amazon.com as that site had the cheapest price.  I simply followed the directions on the bottle on how to take it gradually, and never had any problems.  I put that in my glass cup and add warm RO water, and stir continuously until it is homogenous, and then drink it.  After drinking it, I then add 14 ounces more warm water and drink that.

After about 45 minutes, I then take my magnesium supplement.  I take 2.2 grams of NUTRABIO CHELATED MAGNESIUM, as TRAACS magnesium glycinate chelate, which provides about 400 mg. of very highly absorbable magnesium.  I put this in about 14 ounces of warm water, and stir until it is completely dissolved, and then drink it.  30 minutes after this, I then take my "energy mixture."  It is the ingredients and amounts--though MUCH less caffeine--found in the most popular energy drink, but anyone can make it themselves.  I take one (1) heaping tsp. of off-brand instant coffee, 1-2 grams of Taurine, 1 gram glucuronolactone, and 1tsp. GRANDMA'S ORIGINAL UNSULPHURED MOLASSES because a sugar is needed to activate the amino-acid and raise the blood-sugar because glucuronolactone is indicated to lower blood-sugar.  The instant coffee provides between 75-100 mg. caffeine per heaping tsp., but the original recipe calls for 150-200 mg. caffeine, which I find to be much too high for daily usage twice per day.  This provides a much-needed energy boost that lasts for many hours, and the caffeine dose is low enough that I never experience any adverse reactions.  I bought the instant coffee from a popular big-chain department store, the Taurine from http://www.nutrabio.com and the glucuronolactone from http://www.purebulk.com because these all had the best prices for the large amounts that I need.  When I take this energy mixture, I then take the ATP--adenosine tri-phosphate--precursor named d-Ribose.  It is a five-chain sugar molecule that is immediately converted to pure ATP by the body, and is used when I do any kind of exercise, and ALWAYS take with me when I go anywhere in case I have any kind of cardiac disturbances or feel fatigued.  I take three (3) scoops, which provides roughly 15 grams, or if I did not have a scoop, I would take 15 TADS, which provides roughly one (1) gram for each 1/4 tsp TAD.  Additionally, I then take five (5) or 10 grams of di-arginine malate, which is one (1) or two (2) scoops, OR roughly seven (7) or 14 TADS, depending on how I feel.  Di-arginine malate is used as a vasodilator to increase circulation, and I use it also to assist my heart in its overall function.  I take this twice daily, and will provide the time detail as I progress in this essay.

Afternoon:  Roughtly one (1) hour after taking the energy supplements, I then take an extremely powerful combination that has to be used with caution.  I take a little more than one (1) g. of acetly l-carnitine, which is a little more than one (1) scoop, or one (1) TAD.  I combine this with one (1) LEVEL TAD--1/4 tsp.--of alphan lipoic acid, aka ALA.  Now, this is where it becomes very important.  ALA is EXTREMELY acidic, and should never, ever be taken except when encapsulated.  I buy both of these products from http://www.nutrabio.com because the price is the cheapest and the quality is pure; however, it is very important to get gel-caps separately from another location, preferably http://www.purebulk.com because the price is very reasonable.  I carefully measure one level TAD, which measures 460 mg. of ALA, and then funnel this into a large capsule.  I then take one scoop, a little more than one (1) TAD of acetyl l-carnitine and mix it in warm water and drink them both together with a very light snack.  This combination should be taken with food due to the extreme acidity of both ALA and ALCAR, or acetyl l-carnitine.  Also, it should be noted that apparently an elevated blood-sugar is needed for the activation of amino-acids, which ALCAR is, so either ingesting a sweet drink like juice or eating a light snack is indicated.  

About one (1) hour after taking the strong anti-oxidant combination, I am ready to eat the first main meal of the day.  I always eat high-protein and high-fat meals, and once I begin my modified Atkins diet, that is all that I will eat except for an inclusion of broccoli and/or other very low-carbohydrate vegetables.  I NEVER, EVER eat processed food any longer, and MSG is absolutely forbidden, unless I go out to eat and as a precaution I take the one (1) to two (2) grams of Taurine as an antidote for MSG toxicity.  My meals almost always include chicken, beef, pork, or fish, and will almost always include a large portion of broccoli florets and fried onions and garlic.  Each meal is basically the same due to my insistance on as little processing as possible, so my diet is not especially varied, but it is full of very rich foods and a lot of flavor due to my use of spices, like curries, paprika, oregano, fresh ginger, etc.  I should also note that I will often-times use coconut milk to make curries of my meats and VERY limited vegetables, which makes for an extraordinarily rich food experience that I can eat over a couple of days.

Immediately after eating, I then take the following:

700 mg. of Caprylic Acid, containing 228 mg. calcium, 152 mg. phosophorus, and 42 mg. zinc as the very well-absorbed chelates in the form of caprylate; this is to help control yeast.

Spring Valley Sublingaul Liquid B Complex bought from the usual big-chain department store.  It provides the following:  Riboflavin 5-phosphate 1.7 mg. 100%, Niacinamide 20 mg. 100%, B-6 as Pyridoxine HCL 2 mg. 100%--NOTE, this vitamin appears to be toxic in doses larger than 250% per day taken over a period of time--B-12 as Cyanocobalamin 1.2 mg. 20,000%, and Pantothenic acid as Dexpanthenol providing 30 mg. and 300% daily-value.  

After keeping one dropper-full under my tongue for one (1) minute to allow full-absorption, I then move on to my other B-vitamins that are taken separately from this product.

It should be noted that these are all sublingally taken, and are TAKEN SEPARATELY IMMEDIATELY AFTER EACH OTHER, and after the mouth has been rinsed with warm water and swallowed each time.  I take these for energy-production.  I also need to note that these are acidic, and I have to brush my teeth after I am finished with this part of the protocol.

About 15-20 minutes has passed after having eaten, and it is now time to take the final two (2) parts of the first meal protocol.  I put one (1) rounded TAD of N-acetyl l-cysteine (NAC), providing roughly 1.2 g., in 14 ounces of warm water, and two (2) g of Vitamin C as ascorbic acid in the same glass.  Vitamin C needs to be mixed together with NAC to ensure that calcium crystals/stones are not formed in the bladder because of the NAC, and apparently Vitamin C binds to it in such a way that this reaction does not happen, or so I have read and do not want to take any chances.  I then take one rounded TAD of Milk Thistle extract, providing roughly 800 mg. total, providing ?600 mg.? silymarin and ?180? mg. silybin, both active alklaloids in the milk thistle that provides liver-protection and aids in regeneration of liver cells.  I take this to counter-act any effect on my liver from such large doses of supplements, and every test has shown perfect liver and kidney function, but I take it anyway just to be safe.  I drink one more 14-ounce glass of warm water and then wait 10 minutes and then eat a VERY small amount of meat to have something on my stomach for the fat-soluble portion of the protocol.

This is a little more complicated than what has been written previously, only because these supplements are required to be dissolved in fat or oil for maximum absorption.  Because some time has passed--up to 30 minutes after having eaten--it is necessary for me to eat a SMALL PORTION of meat to have something in my stomach.  After eating the one (1) or two (2) mouthful portion of meat or other food, I then do the following:  I take one (1) Tbs. NUTIVA ORGANIC EXTRA VIRGIN COCONUT OIL, purchased from my local health-food store in its largest size of 54 ounces, and put that level Tbs. of either liquid or solid oil in my mouth.  I then add two (2) 200 mg.--400 mg. total--Ubiquinol (the better absorbed form of CoQ10), which is absolutely essential for my disease because this enzyme is used in the Krebs energy cycle.  I then add one (1) PINCH of Diindolylmethane, a powerful anti-oxidant, providing roughly 250 mg. in the dose.  After that, I add one (1) LEVEL PINCH of Lutein 5% powder, providing 10 mg. of lutein, which is indicated for protecting the eyes and optic-nerves from degeneration.  After that, I take 15,000 IU of Vitamin D, and I open the capsules and let the powder fall into my mouth as the pills contain a dry powder inside, or if they contain a liquid, I simply take the whole pills.  Finally, I take one (1) rounded DASH of Vitamin E Succinate, providing roughly 350 mg., and 450 IU, of Vitamin E.

Once I have all of this in my mouth, I swish it around for about one minute and then swallow it all, and rinse my mouth with some warm water to ensure that nothing is left in my mouth.  After this is all done, I brush my teeth.

About two (2) or three (3) hours after this, I then take my calcium supplement.  I eat about two (2) cups fresh kale, chopped, because kale provides a very large amount of Vitamin K, which is needed for calcium to be absorbed in the bones and teeth.  Natto, the Japanese food, is the very best to eat for Vitamin K2, the form needed for calcium to enter the bones and teeth, but that is very expensive, and there is such a large amount of Vitamin K present in kale that the liver can produce enough K2 to do what is needed.  After eating the kale, I then take one (1) scoop providing roughly 2 g. of calcium glycinate chelate from http://www.NutraBio.com.  I then add to the 14-ounce glass of warm water one (1) TAD of potassium chloride, and stir it all until it is as homogenous as it will get, and then drink half, and finish the rest 15 minutes later.  I have a separate glass of warm water and drink half of that each time.  I do this because I found that it is just better to take my magnesium, calcium, and potassium supplements in divided doses so that the body is not overwhelmed with too much potassium at one time.

Now, believe it or not I am almost done!!!   :clap:   I will add an addendum because some supplements that I have not yet included are CONDITIONAL, meaning that I do not take them regularly, and really only take them if I am going to be doing regular exercise.  

Evening:  Roughly three (3) hours, or longer depending on what I am doing, after having taken the calcium, it is not time for me to eat my second and final real meal of the day.  I eat the same kind of high-protein/high-fat meal as previously, and do the same routine, except the number of supplements and amounts change.  I take only 200 mg. of Resveratrol, 1.5 mg. copper glycinate chelate, 350 mg. Caprylic Acid, 200 mcg. selenium, and 250 mg. Grapefruit Seed Extract.  I do not take the liquid B-Vitamin complex.  I now include two (2) different Vitamin B products, both purchased from http://www.Puritan.com and they are 2,500 mcg. microlozeng sublingaul B-12, of which I take two (2), and Ultra Biotin, providing 7,500 mcg. and I take one (1) sublingually together with the B-12.  Again, this is done with a little warm water and moved around under the tongue for about one (1) minute, and then swallowed.  I then take one (1) DASH NAC, which is almost exactly half the original dose, providing about 700 mg. NAC, and two (2) g. ascorbic acid, both of which are purchased from http://www.purebulk.com.  As for the fat-solubles, I take 5,000 IU Vitamin D, 200 mg. Ubiquinol--EVERY OTHER DAY I TAKE 800 MG. IN TWO DIVIDED DOSES OF 400 MG. EACH TIME--one (1) PINCH each of Lutein and Diindolylmethane, and another Tbs. of NUTIVA ORGANIC EXTRA VIRGIN COCONUT OIL.  I then mix it all in my mouth as previously, and then follow it up with some warm water to rinse my mouth, and then swallow again.  Additionally, anything that is not changed above stays the same as the first meal, including all supplements and amounts taken, except I do not take piperine with this meal.

NOW...every other day or so, when I will be doing heavy exercise like dancing or my weights, I take 1.5 g each of glucosamine and chondroitin powders, both purchased from http://www.PureBulk.com , and they are taken once per day on an empty stomach between meals, or the very last thing at night...OR if I wake-up in the middle-of-the-night, I will take them with a glass of warm water and then go back to sleep.

Chlorella and fresh cilantro are taken when I can find the time.  This is not a priority for me at this time, but that may change in the future.  When I DO take chlorella, I take one (1) heaping tsp. providing roughly 5 g. or so of pure chlorella, purchased from http://www.PureBulk.com.  At the same time, I eat 1/2 bunch of fresh cilantro, washed thoroughly and eaten fresh and immediately over the sink because it is still moist and is something that is just done quickly and without any other preparation.  Both chlorella and cilantro are chelators of heavy metals, especially mercury and lead, and I DO take them AT LEAST every other day/thrice a week, but I have to squeeze them in when I can, and they are not taken as regularly as the others in the protocol.  

Another note that I should make.  L-citrulline is almost always taken with di-arginine malate because l-citrulline increases the length of time that the l-arginine stays in the blood-stream, basically acting as a recycler of l-arginine.  When I take l-citrulline, I take at least three (3) g., and sometimes more, and that is roughly three (3) to four (4) TABS, or scoops if bought from http://www.NutraBio.com.  I also need to note that whenever my heart began having terrible palpitations from me pushing myself too hard while excercising--VERY rarely happened, but sometimes did--I would immediately take 10 g. or more di-arginine malate, three (3) to four (4) g. l-citrulline, and 15-20 g. D-ribose.  After a few minutes, my heart would begin to go into an apparently normal rhythm, and the skipped-beats stopped and all was almost back to baseline.

Also, when/if I feel especially fatigued or need energy to exercise, or have something that I need to do, I will take another dose, AS NEEDED, of my energy mixture.  Again, it is made from 75 mg.--one tsp.--of instant coffee, one (1) to two (2) g. Taurine, one (1) g. glucuronolactone, and one (1) tsp--about five (5) g.--of GRANDMA'S Molasses.  I never take it closer than five (5) hours after having taken the first dose, and only take a maximum of two (2) per day.

Now, after my second and final meal of the day, I take eight (8) g. of curcumin, which I had ORIGINALLY taken to control my horrible inflammation after doing exercise; however, I later came to discover in my research that curcumin also activates another key energy enzyme like CoQ10 does, and that enzyme is known as AMPK, which recharges exhausted AMP energy molecules, among other things that I will come back and explain in more detail with foot-notes later.  When I do a lot of exercising, I take 16 g. of curcumin in two (2) divided doses, roughly 12 hours a part because it takes about 12 hours for the amount of curcumin in the blood-stream to be un-detectable, so taking it about 12 hours apart ensure that there is a continual supply in the blood-stream, and from my research eight (8) g. is the optimal amount to take when balanced with cost and effectiveness of anything lower or higher than that amount.  When I take curcumin--at this time I am generally only taking it once per day at eight (8) g. once per day--I separate it from the meal by at least 45 minutes, and then have a small amount of food and after eating that, I take 1/2 to one (1) Tbs of NUTIVA ORGANIC EXTRA VIRGIN COCONUT OIL in my mouth, and open 16 500 mg. pills and empty the contents in my mouth where the oil is and after all 16 pills are done, I mix it in my mouth for one (1) minute until it is all completely dissolved and then swallow.  After swallowing, I rinse my mouth with warm water, and take 1/2 pill--5 mg.--of Source Naturals  BioPerine.  When combined with piperine, the absorption of curcumin in the intestinal-tract increases SUBSTANTIALLY, apparently by as much as 2,000%, and ensuring absolute and complete mixture in the oil does nothing but benefit the level of absorption.  The other way that I have done this, although is is just not nearly as effective, is taking the coconut oil, and adding the curcumin is a very small bowl, and taking a small spoon and mixing the warmly heated oil together, and then eating it with some cold meat that is hard enough to basically scoop-up the mixture like you would do for chips and salsa; however, this is not nearly as effective as what I do now.  The absolute best price that I could find for curcumin is at http://www.turmeric-curcumin.com and I spent a long time looking.

Finally, when I have trouble sleeping for one reason or another, I take 1.5 mg. of melatonin, which I purchase from http://www.Puritan.com.  

Well, this is it, and I hope that my sharing this protocol does some good for people who are at a loss to know where to get supplements, what can/should be taken together, HOW they are to be taken, what benefits they provide, when they should be taken, and possible side-effects.

The ayurvedic doctors are head and shoulders above the Western medical practice IMO.  Simplicity and getting to the root cause and reestablishing balance, the original healing mechanism of the body should be the aim of any healing.

I have examined many expensive healing modalities, herbalism, naturopathy, homeopathy, vitamin supplements, Gerson treatment, etc., and now regard with great skepticism any treatment that is excessive, expensive, requiring trips to special experts, etc..   Go back to the basics, don't look for a magic bullet outside of yourself.   I remember what Nord Davis recommmended, Cary Reems Ionization theory which I think relies on large amounts of fresh squeezed lemon juice, a fiber source to clean out the alimentary canal, etc., when dealing with infections.   When I went on a fast like that together with exercise and other healthy inputs my health and clarity levels were fabulous.   Herbal remedies for this are no doubt what nature intended, and most quality herbs are not that expensive as God intended.  Volunteering and helping others is a good part of health instead of being self-aborbed and taking three fistfuls of supplements and all sorts of remedies (been there done that).

NB:  This is a much bigger project than I had anticipated, but I will keep working on it until it is done, and will provide a very concise list of everything at the end to make all of this easier to follow.  It is a VERY large amount of information to take-in at one time, and I am just thinking that I have not really even begun to discuss the rest of the 40 supplements or so that i take...I sincerely hope that people will find all of this information useful because I wish to God that I would have found one place that had detailed information on supplementation and what each one did and in what dose it is usually taken when I was beginning the work on this protocol.  What I found to be EXTREMELY aggravating was that when someone would discuss supplementation, they almost NEVER would include what time(s) it was to be taken, in what dose, or anything of that sort.  It was almost always generalities and just WHAT was taken, and I hope that I can do something to change that pattern when people discuss health/medical issues and supplementation in-general.

I wanted, and needed, to add the fact that I have started my modified Atkins diet as of three (3) days ago, and while I am really craving carbohydrates, I feel MUCH, MUCH better!  When I am hungry, I think constantly about eating a sandwich, or making some pasta with my "famous" home-made sauce(s), but I know that the ONLY way for me to definitively deal with this systemic yeast infection, as well as my obesity, is to stay with this diet that worked very successfully in the past for me.

I am so lucky that my metabolism is geared for protein and lipid (fat/oil) consumption because this is by-far the easiest and fastest way for "me" to lose weight, and keep it off as long as I don't eat too much and do very little exercise, as was the case for me due to lack of energy.  Over the past couple of days, my energy-level and mental-clarity has begun to improve, and I distinctly remember how my stomach would have trouble after eating a large amount of carbohydrates, and I believe that was due to the yeast.  I have not experienced any noticeable die-off, or Herxheimer reaction, but when/if that changes, I will definitely describe what happens here and what I do to alleviate the effects because that will become a big part of my protocol.  

In case any of you are not aware of what a "Herxheimer's reaction" is, it usually occurs when a large amount of endotoxin--poison from a foreign body that is released either after its death, as a result of its waste-product, or simply as a result of its presence in the system--is released very quickly, and the flood of poison/toxin in the body is so overwhelming that the liver and kidneys are not able to remove it quickly enough to not cause the very negative side-effects.  Those side-effects can include the following:  nausea, vertigo, fever, moderate to severe headaches, generalized flu-like symptoms, sensitivity to light, muscle aches, vomiting, tremor, and other symptoms that would best be avoided if at all possible!

I eat ZERO sugars of any kind, and that includes the "GRANDMA'S Black Strap Unsulphured Molasses" that I was taking while I took some supplements/amino-acids.  I have bought a large quantity of meats so as to save money, and bought everything while it was on-sale and have everything frozen until a day or two before I intend to prepare it.  I am eating the following:

Ham, pork chops, pork steaks, beef steaks, beef hearts, beef roasts, chicken breasts, chicken thighs, chicken legs--which contain the highest amount of Vitamin K2, which is needed by the body to put calcium into the bones and teeth, of any meats--and whole rabbit.  With each meal, I use a home-made simmering sauce for which I will share the recipe later, but contains one (1) whole orange bell-pepper, one-half Vidalia of white onion, some curry powder, potassium chloride, sea-salt, Worcetshire sauce, cilantro, and several other ingredients, which make-up my carbohydrate quota for the day of below 20 grams.

I will share some of my truly delicious recipes when I have more time, but I did want all of you to know that a major change has been made in my diet, and so far I am feeling better, aside from my carbohydrate cravings.

Now, what "I" do differently is limit my vegetables to just friend onions and peppers, or brocolli with seasoning, and that is basically all that I eat as far as vegetables go for the first couple of weeks.  All of the nutrients from fruits and/or vegetables that I would be getting from them I get from either http://www.puritan.com Green Source multi-vitamin, and/or from my whole-foods powder.  The reason that I limit my vegetables to these is because for me there is no confusion about how many carbohydrates I am ingesting, and after those couple of weeks are finished, I can most definitely increase my variety.  Now, as far as mushrooms and other fungi or fungi-producing food like nuts are concerned, because I am ALSO fighting a systemic yeast infection, anyone with that condition would know that any foods that would include molds of any kind, or even the possibly of mold, like nuts, are simply out-of-the-question.

I use MANY spices and herbs while cooking, and use very generous amounts of ginger and garlic, both of which contain more carbohydrates than most people would assume, so that is another trade-off that "I" have decided to make because their health-benefits are what "I", personally, want, as opposed to eating more spinach or other green, leafy vegetable that I will be able to eat in a decent amount after the "induction phase" is complete, which takes about two (2) or three (3) weeks.

You ought to look into liposomal vitamin C. It's dirt cheap to make and is more effective than intravenous vitamin C. I've been using it, along with Vitamin b5 and some other vitamins, since September and my adrenal fatigue symptoms are subsiding. These symptoms have been brought on from 10 years of chronic tendonapathy of the worst kind in my upper hamstrings and adductors. I would normally get micro-tears in the region and my recovery time between strains was getting longer and longer. The liposomal vitamin C has eliminated micro-tear problems and my testosterone and other hormones seem to be shifting more towards normal. I have significantly reduced brain fog, etc.

Look into it. You're missing out, even though many of the other things you're using are great.

Making Homemade Liposomal Vitamin C

(Updated December 2010) On a fairly regular basis Bill Sardi generates something of great importance to those challenged with cancer.   This past year was no exception.  Bill has done the legwork to locate and post (complete with links to backup studies) evidence that Liposomal Vitamin C is capable of killing cancer.

While many have long held the suspicion oral Liposomal Vitamin C would kill cancer cells (just as intravenous Vitamin C)  we lacked proof or studies to back up that belief.   Well, no longer.

Posted January 2010 is a terrific Bill Sardi article titled "Researchers Achieve Cancer-Killing Effect With Oral-Dose Vitamin C".   Read it carefully and make judicious use of the supporting links.

Don't miss the reference to sugar's negative impact on Vitamin C absorption.  Whether you decide to make your own homemade Liposomal Vitamin C Ascorbate or purchase one of the commercial versions it is clear you have a significant new option with scientific backing.

Reminder: If making homemade Liposomal Vitamin C you will want to consider making the Ascorbate version for blood pH.    At the high levels of supplementation needed (several tablespoons daily) to affect cancer blood pH is an important consideration.

The recipe and supplement sources following will allow you to make quality liposomal encapsulated Vitamin C Ascorbate at a fraction of the cost of purchasing readymade Encapsulated Vitamin C or un-encapsulated Vitamin C Ascorbate.

The cancer fighting ability of high dose Vitamin C has been known and used for years by medical doctors around the world. Doctors use Vitamin C Ascorbate to infuse intravenously into the body to keep the blood pH from becoming acidic. (See Acidosis) The pH of blood in the human is tightly regulated by the body at 7.35 – 7.45, or just slightly basic.
The various manufacturers of production Liposomal Vitamin C all use the Vitamin C Ascorbate form for the blood pH reason discussed above.

For all the reasons above we recommend the following recipe over our prior homemade liposomal Vitamin C recipes which did not contain bicarbonate of soda.

What follows is a discussion by Brooks Bradley regarding Liposomal Encapsulation Techniques:

Dear List Members, I have been somewhat remiss in not supplying additional information which might make prosecuting an acceptable generation process....somewhat easier. To that end, I offer a few elaborating comments. First, using some form of blender to enhance/accelerate the process is perfectly acceptable....and effective. However, one must understand the limitations of using this modality. To wit: Because the entire encapsulation process is, essentially, a refined homogenization process the researcher is bound within the limits of the chosen process....itself. e.g. Using a blender in the early stages of the ultrasonic type protocol, places a limit (especially particle size) on the resultant compounds. As a general rule, the smallest liposomes achievable...are going to be larger than 150 nm in size—-even after extensive agitating. Therefore, if smaller particles are desired.....some procedure must be invoked to achieve this. Ultrasonic energy is an excellent way to achieve this. Ultrasonic energy applied to solutions having, previously, been mixed using mechanical blenders (of the household type) will improve the encapsulation process greatly (sometimes as much as an order of magnitude) through the immediate size reduction of the encapsulated particle size. Additionally, both power levels and exposure time experienced from the US energy......have a pronounced effect on the end product. e.g. simply by extending the time exposed to the US energy will yield a product with a majority of particles of a markedly reduced physical size (sometimes by more than one-half). Also, by increasing the power spectral density [energy delivered to the target], considerable size and complexity reduction may be achieved.  (Sometimes from larger, multiple-layered liposomes, down to single-layered liposomes of much smaller size). This one characteristic, alone, should justify the selection of the larger US unit over the smaller one....as the larger US power level output is much higher. The way to capitalize on this advantage is to limit the depth of the parent solution in the larger US unit, to 3/4″ to 1″. Because the distance from the US energy! source and the mass of the target material DOES, in fact, have a powerful effect on the delivered energy. Direct visual observation alone, will confirm the powerful increase in cavitations (energy field) of the liquid medium. This type innovation will yield effects that in some cases....challenge the results of laboratory-grade, high pressure (over 3000 psi) impact plate systems.....costing $10,000 and up. What most commercial producers (and labs) do, is they RECIRCULATE their candidate solutions.....in order to achieve smaller—-and more isolated—-end products. By extending your exposure time, using shallow solutions, DIYs can...in many cases, actually challenge, to some degree, the levels accomplished by these very high dollar commercial machines.....using their own DIY homemade systems. Someone asked the question...does pre-agitation via blending devices damage or compromise the candidate solutions. The short answer is NO. Almost any type of agitation aids in the homogenization process. I have some descriptive information relative to the use of blending devices, which may prove of use to the list membership, but I must go at this time. Sincerely, Brooks Bradley.

This recipe will give you a product between 7.0 and 7.5 (measured with Alkalive pH Stix) or similar pH to human blood so there is no risk of over acidifying your blood should you take significant amounts of your homemade Liposomal Vitamin C Ascorbate.

(Blood pH is tightly controlled by the body at near 7.35 pH.   If your blood pH were much above or below that number you would be a very sick person.)

Creating an identical pH in your liposomal brew is simply a matter of carefully adjusting the level of bicarbonate of soda.

This Vitamin C Ascorbate recipe is a compilation of several postings on forums and Pdazzler's own trials in the kitchen.

Using a small (2 cup) Ultrasonic cleaner, (Item #03305, obtainable from Harbor Freight @ about $30.00), we performed the following:
1. In qt mixing jar pour 1 cup of distilled water. Add 3 level Tablespoons of granular soy lecithin (NOW has non-genetically modified soy lecithin) and agitate vigorously for 3 - 5 minutes.

Then place the lecithin mixture in the refrigerator for two or more hours.   (You can leave in refrigerator overnight if you prefer.)   This allows lecithin granules to soak up water for easy mixing into solution.

Note: Mixing can be accomplished easier if you raise the temperature of the distilled water being used to 45 degrees Celsius (113 degrees Fahrenheit). I have found this unnecessary in getting high quality mixtures but others have found this warmer temperature helpful.

After 2 hour soaking period vigorously agitate the mixture for another 3 - 5 minutes.   At the conclusion there should be no lecithin granules visible.   Set this smooth lecithin mixture aside.

2. Dissolved 1 level Tablespoon of Pharmaceutical grade Vitamin C powder in 2 oz. of distilled water.   We recommend you use a 6 oz. or larger screw lid jar so you can shake vigorously.

3. Dissolve heaping Tablespoon of Bob's Red Mill Bicarbonate of Soda (Bob's is Aluminum free) in 2 oz. of distilled water using a separate 6 oz. or larger screw lid jar.   Shake or agitate the mixture 3 minutes or until soda dissolved.

*One mole of sodium bicarbonate is 84 grams, and one mole of ascorbic acid is 176 grams. So, the correct (stoichiometric) ratio of sodium bicarbonate to ascorbic acid is 84/176 = 0.477. For example, it would take 477 milligrams of sodium bicarbonate to neutralize 1000 milligrams of ascorbic acid.

**What follows is often the most difficult part of the process for those new to making homemade liposomal Vitamin C Ascorbate.

While stirring the Vitamin C / distilled water solution very slowly pour/dribble the dissolved bicarbonate of soda/water mixture into the Vitamin C / distilled water solution.  (Pour soda solution very slowly as the resulting mixture will bubble.  By pouring slowing and constantly stirring you will be able to mix the two without bubbling over.)

At the conclusion of mixing the bicarbonate of soda mixture into the Vitamin C mixture all bubbling will cease.   If you have any soda settled in the jar pour the resulting total mix together into that jar, swirl and pour the resulting Vitamin C / Bicarbonate of Soda mixture into the Ultrasonic Cleaner.

4. Pour the Lecithin solution into ultrasonic cleaner bowl with the Vitamin C / Bicarbonate of Soda mixture and stir the contents together.

5. Turn the ultrasonic cleaner on and using a plastic straw (leaving the top of the cleaner opened), gently, slowly, stirred the contents.

Note: The cleaner will, automatically, self-stop about every 2 minutes. Just push ON button to continue. Repeat for a total of 6 series (12 - 18 minutes). By that time the entire solution should be blended into a cloudy, homogeneous, milk-like mixture. The LET solution is now well  formed.

You can raise the level of encapsulation by continuing several more ultrasonic cycles if desired.

It would be necessary to take what supplements needed for the time away from home with me, or anyone else who has any kind of protocol this in-depth.  It is NOT as difficult as it appears on-its-face once started, and enough experience is gained in how to quickly take the pills, powders, crystals, and herb-foods that are included.  

As far as taking-care of children, or others, there is really no interference because, as time-consuming as it may appear to be, each part of the protocol can be completed in about five to ten minutes, at the most.

It is absolutely necessary to drink AT LEAST one (1) US gallon--4 liters/quarts--of water per day to ensure that I have enough dilution so that my liver and kidneys are not overwhelmed due to the large amount of supplements, AND because when you eat a lot of meat, you WILL have digestion issues--constipation--if you do not drink enough water, from my experience and not from what "someone said."

I will only ever drink, in large quantities, purified/distilled/RO water because of the vast amounts of poisons in tap-water.  Fluoride is another very big reason that I will only ever drink RO--reverse osmosis--or distilled, because in those two types, except with a certified fluoride filter, there will still be un-acceptable amounts of fluoride in the water, and that, as far as my research has shown, is the case even with spring water.  

I hope that this is as succinct of an answer as I can give as to why it is so very important to drink large amounts of water, and that would go for anyone because it appears that very few people are adequately hydrating.

NB:  One thing that I needed to add is that the large amount of sodium that I have to ingest from the sodium bicarbonate is another very big reason for adding such a large amount of water to my protocol.  All of that sodium, even if it is being off-set by supplementing with potassium, requires a large amount of water so as not to cause electrolyte disturbances or blood-pressure issues, as I have found in my case.

I have added acetyl l-carnitine at a dose of around four (4) grams in three (3) divided-doses per day, and 600 mg. of ALA--alpha lipoic acid--in two divided doses, taken concurrently on an empty stomach with 10-15 g. of glucose, and my brain-fog is IMPROVING!!!  My blood-pressure is substantially improved, and my energy-level is SIGNIFICANLY higher! 

My blood-pressure was usually around 150-170/70-95, and is now usually around 115-140/65-80, which is a REMARKABLE and MIRACULOUS decrease! 

I will give a more in-depth update later, but I have not been taking ALCAR and ALA for a while, and have only recently started taking the combination again after over a year of abstaining from it/them, and am amazed at how much better I feel.  I buy the supplements from http://www.nutrabio.com/ , and the ALA MUST be taken in pill-form due to its extreme acidity, so I also have to buy bulk large empty capsules.
