The average-joe usually goes to a coin shop and orders.  Some Countries have Mints that sell bullion.  You can buy nuggets off eBay too or off prospectors directly.

Research the buying price and the selling price as you don't want to invest/hedge at a price that when you resell you lose.  Weigh up the fees, other words.  Weigh up the ability to convert, as if the gold price goes too high then trading to paper maybe disadvantageous.

Also consider Gold is useless in a crumbing industrial nation, and in most cases its nothing but good will, and for jewellery making.  Gold is apt to high tech industry.  Gold's good will lends itself to storage and hiding.  On the other side, silver is better to distribute for small purchases, say for wages or buying goods.  Silver has the practical use to in that it purifies water from bacteria.

So sum everything up.  Do you think society is going to remain high-tech?  If not then target for social barter currency.

Great company; great people.  Free shipping on order over$2000.  Fully insured.

They have never failed me.   Don't let the title fool you.  They sell bullion as well as Numismatics.  And they aren't sold out of Silver like so many others.  I'd say Palladium is a steal right now.

On that note I was also looking into gold or silver, I know DBS was saying silver was a good bet but he never said why. If anyone has a opinion on which would be a better investment and why I'm all ears.
