Cold war - as in frozen computer

A few days ago, I noticed that when I accessed something on the RT website, my computer suddenly slowed down, and, when I closed the tab, the computer started working normally.

Today, I opened a tab on an RT article, and went away for a few hours, and came back to find my computer frozen.  I did a reboot, and the computer still was slow, until I deleted the RT tab, and, now, the computer is working fine again.

Anybody else having the same experience?
