Assi Ben-Mosh

Ex-Israel soldier heading child prostitution ring wanted by Interpol

Three Israelis were arrested over the weekend in Colombia, along with 15 others, on suspicion of involvement in sex trafficking in the tourist city of Cartagena that included the sexual exploitation of more than 250 women and girls, Israel's Ynet news reported.

It's reported that Colombian authorities also asked Interpol to arrest a former Israel soldier deported from Colombia for running a child prostitution ring. Authorities claimed that even after his expulsion, 44-year-old Israeli citizen Assi Ben-Mosh continued to manage his illicit operations in Colombia from afar.

Mosh was deported to Israel after it was discovered that he was part of a group of ex-Israeli soldiers that had turned a small fishing village in Taganga into a "sex and drug den" from their base in a luxury resort, the Benjamin Hostel which was known to locals as "little Israel".

From "little Israel" Moosh is reported to have run similar clubs exploiting drugs and children in Cartagena, Bogotá, Medellín, Ecuador, Mexico and Brazil. Local residents spoke of their relief following his arrest and deportation last November and thought they had seen the back of the former Israeli soldier.

Colombian authorities said that Moosh had harmed the security of the state and its citizens. Reports identified Moosh who was also accused of a number of other charges including tax fraud, drug offenses and inciting children to prostitution.

Moosh denies any connection to the tourism sex ring and, according to Israeli sources, he is currently waging a legal battle to return to Colombia.

The bust over the weekend followed months of surveillance. Authorities said that it was one of the biggest operations to combat child sex trafficking and forced prostitution in Cartagena. In a statement, the attorney general's office described the victims as "real slaves of the 21st century".

Ex Israeli Soldier Who Headed Child Prostitution Ring Arrested in Portugal
http://www.palestinechronicle.com/ex-israeli-soldier-who-headed-child-prostitution-ring-arrested-in-portugal/

An ex-Israeli soldier, wanted in Colombia for heading a child prostitution ring and sex trafficking offenses, has been arrested in Portugal.

Forty-five-year-old Assi Ben-Mosh – also known as Assi Moosh – was arrested near the Portuguese capital Lisbon on Wednesday during an operation by Spain's Guardia Civil police force.

The Guardia Civil said in a statement that Ben-Mosh is thought to have been hiding on the Spanish island of Ibiza, and then in Barcelona, before eventually being arrested in Portugal this week. It added that Ben-Mosh had been using a fake Israeli ID, the Times of Israel reported yesterday.

Ben-Mosh is wanted by Colombian authorities for running a child prostitution ring in the small fishing village of Taganga, located on the South American country's Caribbean coast. He, along with a group of ex-Israeli soldiers, reportedly turned the luxury Benjamin Hostel into a "sex and drug den" in which more than 250 underage girls were subjected to sexual exploitation.

The Benjamin Hostel became known to locals as "little Israel" and acted as a base from which Ben-Mosh ran similar clubs exploiting children in Cartagena, Medellín and the Colombian capital Bogotá. His empire is also thought to have extended to Ecuador, Mexico, and Brazil.

In November 2017 Ben-Mosh was deported from Colombia after the authorities labeled him a threat to public order and the security of the state. At the time, local sources reported that he was arrested after arriving at the immigration office in nearby Santa Marta, accompanied by a group of armed men. It was believed he had been trying to obtain Colombian citizenship.

According to Colombia's national police, Ben-Mosh had raised suspicion after it was discovered that his permits for tourism and hotel operation were obtained through a third party, enabling him to carry out criminal activities undetected for a decade. He was returned to Tel Aviv under escort by immigration officers.

However, in July 2018 Colombian authorities asked Interpol to arrest Ben-Mosh, believing he had continued to manage his illicit operations from afar despite his deportation. The international arrest warrant stated that Ben-Mosh was wanted for drug trafficking, money laundering and trafficking of human beings for the purpose of sexual exploitation.

The call came after three Israelis and 15 others were arrested on suspicion of involvement in sex trafficking in the tourist city of Cartagena. They were arrested from Benjamin Hostel, another establishment of the same name as that run by Ben-Mosh in Taganga.

It is not yet clear whether Ben-Mosh will be extradited to Colombia following his arrest.

Gilbert Chikli

This is the world's greatest con artist
https://nypost.com/2016/03/28/this-man-seduced-businessmen-out-of-millions/

PARIS — The man who nearly stole over 70 million euros ($78.4 million) from France's business and banking elite is a serial manipulator who sees fraud not as a crime but as a way of life, according to those behind a new film based on the con artist's exploits.

"Je Compte sur Vous" — released in English as "Thank You for Calling" — is based on the exploits of Gilbert Chikli, a French-Israeli who engineered rogue payments by phoning companies and pretending to be the firm's CEO or a French intelligence agent. Those behind the film, which was released in France on Dec. 30, describe Chikli as a chameleon, a brazen charmer whose boasts suggest he has yet to abandon his criminal career.

"Chikli is an unstoppable seduction machine," said director Pascal Elbe in a recent interview in Paris. "For him it's a job, it's definitely not a con."

Chikli's heists were astounding in their daring. With a little background research and a well-placed phone call, Chikli could cajole or bluster his way into organizing the transfer of several hundred thousand, a million or even millions of euros to bank accounts in Dubai, Russia, China or Hong Kong.

His victims put down the phone convinced they were speaking to their boss or to a genuine French spy. One spoke of being taken in by a man with "an extremely powerful tone of voice and self-assurance." Two more were convinced — somehow — to withdraw cash and hand-deliver it to bars in Paris. When tricks or charm didn't work, Chikli turned to bullying; another employee was threatened with losing her job if she didn't immediately organize the transfer of nearly $2 million to the UK.

"He adapts to his interlocutor, that's what's crazy," Elbe said. "He improvises. He reacts. He riffs off what you're saying and gives you back what you want to hear."

The idea for the film came from producer Isaac Sharry, who bought the rights to Chikli's story when he was still in French custody and visited him in Israel shortly after Chikli jumped bail. Chikli remains a wanted man in France, but today lives openly in Ashdod, a port town south of Tel Aviv. Israeli authorities refused to explain why Chikli is able to live freely in Israel.

Sharry said he wanted to speak to Chikli in depth to ask how "bankers who make thousands of euros and went to fancy schools let themselves be hoodwinked by a simple guy on the phone."

The producer amassed 10 cassettes worth of tape which became the basis for a screenplay. Elbe was tapped as filmmaker and actor Vincent Elbaz was brought in to play the Chikli-like con artist at the center of the film. All three spent significant periods of time with the fraudster, trying to draw out the secrets of his trade and unwrap the mystery of his character.

Elbaz said he found it difficult to get access to the man behind the con.

"He adapts constantly his behavior to the other. It's constantly a lie," he said.

Whether Chikli has mended his ways is open to question. At one point, Elbaz said Chikli announced that there would be a sequel.

Elbaz said he warned Chikli off the idea. "The film is super and all but you have to sell millions and millions of tickets for it to be a sequel," he said.

Elbaz said Chikli replied: "No. We're going to do a sequel not because the film is going to be a success, but because of what I'm going to do next."

Contacted later by the Associated Press, Chikli denied the exchange ever took place.

Michael Kadar

Jewish center bomb hoaxer given 10 years in prison for 2,000 threats worldwide
https://www.rt.com/news/444630-jewish-center-bomb-hoax/?utm_source=browser&utm_medium=aplication_chrome&utm_campaign=chrome

The 20-year-old mastermind behind a terrifying spate of hoax bomb threats against Jewish institutions the world over between 2016 and 2017 has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Israeli-American Michael Ron David Kadar was found guilty in June of hundreds of counts of extortion, making terroristic threats, computer offenses, and money laundering, among other charges.

He used a device to shield his IP address and disguise his voice, paying for calls using bitcoin, and made fake bomb threats to several organizations, including the Israeli Embassy in Washington and the Israeli Consulate in Miami.

Among other major disruptions, Kadar's actions led to mass evacuations of Jewish centers, hospitals and schools, caused fighter jets to scramble, and prompted commercial airliners to dump fuel and make emergency landings. He also tried to extort US State Senator Ernesto Lopez (R-DE).

He has been indicted on hate crime charges by the US Department of Justice, though it remains unclear whether the US will pursue extradition, given that the vast majority of Kadar's offences, including weapons possession and attacking a police officer, were perpetrated on Israeli soil and involved multiple other jurisdictions including the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Kadar has been diagnosed with autism and reportedly has a brain tumour which the defense argued greatly impacted his behavior. The defendant's lawyer said his client has attempted suicide five times since his arrest.

Tel Aviv District Court Judge Tzvi Gurfinkel was unmoved, however, asserting that despite his medical conditions Kadar could still distinguish right from wrong.

"One can imagine the terror, the fear and the dread that the airline passengers experienced when they were forced to make an emergency landing and when some were injured in the evacuation of the planes," Gurfinkel said, as cited by Haaretz.  https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/israeli-american-hacker-who-terrorized-u-s-jews-with-bomb-threats-gets-10-years-1.6677435

Kadar received a fine of 60,000 shekels (US$16,068) in addition to his prison sentence of 10 years – three years longer than the prosecution had asked for. His term will count from his initial arrest in March 2017. Kadar briefly escaped police custody after a hearing in Jerusalem earlier this year which may have impacted the sentencing.

The Tel Aviv District Court also issued new indictments against him in October, charging him with making additional hoax threats from prison and for his attempted escape.
