Kabbalist Dr. Michael Laitman explains why some Jews hate Jews and Israel, that it's due to their , Their spiritual root is that they are a nation founded on their uniting above their divisions in order to discover the law of nature, "love your neighbor as yourself" and spread that love to all other nations, i.e. being "a light unto nations." Therefore, as the Jews' ancestors once became Jews by realizing this tight level of unity, they have an obligation to reach it once again. But due to the exile from this unified state, and their long integration into the nations of the world, they've become unconscious of this obligation, and many have come to despise it, as they don't want to be obligated to unite, but rather thrive and succeed according to the values in the competitive individualistic society they have been born and raised in.

This is what distances the Jews from other nations.

Anyone from the nations of the world can become a Jew, a 100% Jew, whereas a Jew can never become a Frenchman or a German or anyone else. He will always remain a Jew. And therefore, the hatred toward the situation that he can't be in control of, where he can't choose freely who he is—all other nations can, but he can't. This destroys him. It makes him hate Israel, the essence of the people of Israel. It's something he can't explain to himself, but he's willing to work at it in the most aggressive way. And we see that all these organizations are filled with Jews, that the biggest anti-Semites are Jews because they can't get rid of their Judaism, because they can't break free of it, and they can't be a Frenchman or a German or anyone. They can't. They remain Jewish. Therefore, they hate their Jewish spiritual root. They hate it in an eternal and spiritual way.
