Eyewitnesses confirmed that the explosion, flames and flames were seen from a long distance.

Various videos depicting the initial explosion at the military factory were posted online.

Israeli police and security services, which have completely sealed off the area, said they were investigating the causes of the blast.

The sources pointed out that this explosion is the third of its kind in this area since the beginning of this year, Aljazeera reported.

Mysterious explosion rocks military industrial site near Tel Aviv
This is the third such incident to take place in the area over the past two and a half months

Another mysterious blast took place in central Israel near Herzliya overnight on 14 August, seriously injuring one person and marking the third such explosion in the area in a period of two and a half months.

"One person was seriously injured overnight Tuesday in a major explosion at a military industries complex in Ramat Hasharon, central Israel. Two more were injured lightly. Rescue teams rushed to the scene to put out the fire that broke out after the blast," Hebrew newspaper Israel Hayom reported.

"Numerous firefighting teams arrived at the scene from the [nearby] Herzliya stations to join the security personnel of the factory," locating "several centers of combustion" and gaining control over the fire "without the use of hazardous materials," Israeli fire rescue services said in a statement.

The statement added that an investigation into the incident is underway.

Videos and images on social media show an explosion and a large flash of light over the occupied city of Ramat Hasharon.

The last time such a blast occurred was at the end of last month. Mysterious explosions of this sort have been common recently.

Just two weeks before the latest blast, a large fire erupted at an abandoned arms factory. At the time, there were conflicting reports on whether or not a blast had been heard.

One month before that, a large explosion took place at the same site where Monday night's blast happened. The explosion left a seven-meter wide and deep crater in the ground. At the time, the mayor of Herzliya said that the cause may have been due to remnants of weapons stored underground.

The mayor referred to the area as "full of explosive materials." Israel is known to impose strict censorship on such incidents.

Other similar occurrences have been referred to by the army as "routine exercises."

The majority of these mysterious explosions have taken place in areas where military-industrial sites, some operational and others abandoned, are located.

Ramat Hasharon Mayor Avi Gruber claimed that this latest blast was the result of a "work accident" at an arms factory.

These "areas are a ticking time bomb. There must be no construction in them, and the creation of explosive and dangerous materials must be moved from the center of the country to isolated areas," the mayor said.
