most likely no such thing, but I am looking for something other than the [you know whos] controlled info gathering tool.

I am currently using

storage is small and you have to login at least once every 3 weeks

http://www.hushmail.com

but they still gather info.

just read this crap

Snip:
QuoteHushmail, the web's leading provider of encrypted web mail, updated its explanation of its security model, confirming a THREAT LEVEL report that the company can and will eavesdrop on its users when presented with a court order, even if the targets uses the company's vaunted Java applet that does all the encryption and decryption in a browser.

Using an encrypted service means that you've raised suspicion and attracted attention by them. Never use any of these services. They're more trouble than worth. Just assume everything you write will be read by them.

I just use gmail, and to hell with Big Brother. It's mostly thirteen-year-old chatter anyway.

understood, but for me I don't like being profiled, I don't like some computer reading my mail and placing ads that relate to my content. it's a violation of my privacy, but that is the whole point of the "Web" [a place where spiders catch flies] or the "Net" [a device to capture  animals].

That's pretty funny coming from a 14 year-old

You do realize that every time you send/receive an email your email passes through at least a couple of spam filters. These spam filters do the same thing as google's adsense for Gmail. Ads on Gmail don't bother me the slightest.

Hushmail use OpenPGP.  You can use OpenPGP with any email service, provided that you have an OpenPGP enabled email client, such as Enigmail.
"The real menace of our Republic is the invisible government which like a giant octopus sprawls its slimy legs over our cities, states and nation. At the head is a small group of banking houses generally referred to as \'international bankers.\' This little coterie... run our government for their own selfish ends. It operates under cover of a self-created screen, seizes our executive officers, legislative bodies, schools, courts, newspapers and every agency created for the public protection."

You should always assume that what you write can be read, but you shuold ALWAYS use encryption.  The idea that it would raise suspicion and therefore be better to not do is exactly the way they want you to think.

There have been recent claims that both hushmail and safe-mail are NSA controlled.  But then, the NSA would want you to believe that even if they were not...
It is strange how safe-mail uses a "honeycomb" background design, almost like they might be rubing the "honeypot" in your face?
