The Foreign Ministry unveiled a new plan this week: Paying talkbackers to post pro-Israel responses on websites worldwide. A total of NIS 600,000 (roughly $150,000) will be earmarked to the establishment of an "Internet warfare" squad.

The Foreign Ministry intends to hire young people who speak at least one language and who study communication, political science, or law – or alternately, Israelis with military experience gained at units dealing with information analysis.

Beyond the fact that these job requirements reveal a basic lack of understanding in respect to the dynamics of the online discourse – the project's manager argued that "adults don't know how to blog" – they are not too relevant either. An effective talkbacker does not need a law degree or military experience. He merely needs to care about the subject he writes about.

The sad truth is that had Israeli citizens believed that their State is doing the right thing, they would have made sure to explain it out of their own accord. Without being paid.

Foreign Ministry officials are fighting what they see as a terrible and scary monster: the Palestinian public relations monster. Yet nothing can be done to defeat it, regardless of how many foolish inventions will be introduced and how many bright communication students will be hired.

The reason is that good PR cannot make the reality in the occupied territories prettier. Children are being killed, homes are being bombed, and families are starved. Yet nonetheless, the Foreign Ministry wants to try to change the situation. And they have willing partners. "Where do I submit a CV?" wrote one respondent. "I'm fluent in several languages and I'm able to spew forth bullshit for hours on end."

Anti-democratic initiative

Any attempt to plant talkbacks online must fail. Especially if the State is behind it. Not only because it's easy to identify responses made on behalf of someone, but also because it's anti-democratic. When the Israel Electric Company or other companies do it, it's annoying. Yet when the State does it, it's dangerous.

Imposters on behalf of the government are threatening free discourse even if they only wander through the virtual space. The Internet was meant to serve as an open platform for dialogue between people, rather than as a propaganda means.

Something worrisome is happening here lately. We see the accumulation of silencing attempts. The Nakba Law, the bill calling for a ban on protests outside the homes of politicians, Lieberman's Loyalty Law, and the biometric information database. The free speech hunting season is on.

Thankfully we have the Internet, and it enables us to identify processes, discuss them, warn about them, and join forces against them. We can assume that soon we'll see the establishment of a website opposed to this new initiative, unless such site already exists. Perhaps even a group on Facebook. I wonder whether all its members will be Foreign Ministry agents, or whether it will also include some real people.

This is not a police state: This is a thought-police state.

i'm very familiar with this type of behavior, having had to deal with it as a consumer activist.

$150K is cheap - my guess is, they spend a LOT more, this is just one installment.  considering how many websites there are.

even if every Sayanim contacted the "home office" every time they saw an anti-Israel comment on some newspaper bulletin board, it wouldn't be enough.

my guess is, Israel has AT LEAST 10 people working full time to manage "web presence" or whatever term you want to use.

my brother works in the web marketing business.  basically companies pay him to manage their Twitter feeds.  or he will write a 30 page report explaining how Facebook is good for viral marketing.

just as the corporate America world is learning to do searches to seek out web-postings by dis-satisfied customers, Israel has probably been doing it longer than anybody.  Christ, they have the ADL to whine whenever someone tells the truth.  they have Ari Emanuel (Rahmbo's brother), "Hollywood superagent", to complain when an actor like Mel Gibson actually tells the truth about Jewish control of Hollywood (Ari called for a boycott of Mel Gibson for that one incident).

also, the Zionists have Americans well-trained, like puppy-dogs, through the American educational system, among other things.  i believed the BS about Henry Ford being anti-Semitic all my life - until about 2 weeks ago.  that American public school education.  also i got mostly "A"'s, which means that i was very good at regurgitating their propaganda.

it would be appropriate to reach people at a younger age.  i worked in corporate America for 20 years before i became aware of Zionism and realized the infiltration & domination at work.  i wish somebody had told me as soon as i got to college - i would have been GRATEFUL.  it would have helped me make better career decisions, among other things.

Get them on Google video searching for the truth! Share what you know and where to find it with people of all ages.

Israelis are tired of defending themselves, be it on the battlefield, in daily discussion in cafes, or on the internet. Most of us get mad about everything we read, but few of us will take the time to actually write comments.

The internet is larger and has more sites than most of us even know exist, and in most, especially those that Israelis don't read or even know exist, Israel is being condemned daily, without any defense or response.

These are not thought police; these are soldiers of fact who will educate the world about the truth here in Israel and will share our position and opinions with many sites and readers who know so little about us.

I'm sure this information gathering will go both ways and when these posters find truth then they will go and report that person.

the problem is, while this game is going on, the Palestinians are continuing to be killed and the other Zionist wars continue to be prosecuted.

i ask myself what it would have been like to be a "Good German" while innocent people are being killed.  well, that's what the world is doing now - THIS IS WHAT NAZI GERMANY FEELS LIKE.  it's just a high-tech version.

FOR EXAMPLE - the Mel Gibson episode, where he was caught drunk and was ranting about Jews in Hollywood.  as long as he had his facts straight, i don't see any problem there.  if he was saying, "Goddamn Weinstein at Disney", i would correct him, "no Mel, it's Weinstein at Miramax."  not to mention the 3 Jews running Dreamworks SKG.

after that incident, Rahm Emanuel's brother Ari Emanuel ( both the son of Irgun War Criminal, the senior Emanuel ) happens to be taking the helms of Hollywood Super-Agent over from Michael Ovitz.  he is very influential - not only is he Jewish, his father is a Palestine murdering Israeli war criminal who moved to Chicago for a peaceful retirement.  Ari calls for the boycott of Mel Gibson, creating an obvious opening for Mel Gibson to explain what he was talking about.

also notice that he is charming, elegant, handsome - influential.  i am not admiring him, for he uses these attributes in the service of Holocaust creation and denial, which according to his own creed is a big no-no.  i'm referring to the mass murder of the Palestinians and forcing them into a concentration camp, in the desert - with little water.

what i would like to see happen -
Mel Gibson follows through with a 2 hour extraordinarily well-documented feature on Al Nakba, Palestinian term for the catastrophe that occurred in 1948 when the Zionists destroyed 400 Palestinian villages.  maybe with a little side feature explaining his earlier statement about the demographics of Jews in Hollywood.

unfortunately, Mel Gibson is attached to his lifestyle, and cannot commit apparent Hari-Kari with his career to make enemies telling the truth.

i think if Mel Gibson actually spoke out, in the forceful, charming, handsome manner he uses in some of his character roles, and has his facts straight, i don't think he'd be committing Hari-Kari.  i think it would be an act of leadership and other people would gravitate to him for telling the truth and reminding us about what the Israeli's are doing to the Palestinian and Muslim culture in the mid-East.

at any time, Mel Gibson can call a press conference and answer Ari Emanuel's call for a boycott of Mel Gibson, by pointing out that Ari's father is a war criminal in a Holocaust that's been going on since 1931 (the Irgun was an Israeli militia from 1931 to 1948; Israel was founded in 1948 after pushing 400 villages worth of Palestinians off their land).

however, so many American young people are conned, for example, into thinking that Henry Ford is anti-Semitic - as i was conned.

one other note - for people that do speak out publicly, they certainly need to have an awareness of the meaning of the term "shields up".  whistleblowing about the Zionist corporate American culture can be extraordinarily stressful.

it's a good history archive, has about 2 GB of videos & audios & pictures & interviews (it's big), all with interviews of survivors.  Al Nakba was like the My Lai Village Massacre, writ large - 400 villages instead of 1.  in the desert instead of the forest.

one other interesting thing about the Zionist - he makes sure the Americans have blood on their hands too.  that way they are shamed into silence.  sometimes i wonder if that was part of the motivation for the Vietnam War - the Israeli Zionists wanted the Americans to be killing people in the mid-East, so that they would complain less about the Israeli's killing the Palestinians and their supporters.  i doubt that the Israeli's care any more about the Vietnamese, Laotions, and Cambodians, than they do about the Arabs.  an impression reinforced by the historical detail of Kissinger's role, staying up late nights in the Nixon White House planning bombing raids on Laos and Cambodia.
