QuoteGoogle attempted to soften the blow of its retreat from radio by announcing that it was spending $106m (£62m) buying up On2 Technologies, an American business that owns crucial systems used by many online video operators.

The company - based in Clifton Park, New York - owns a number of advanced video compression tools, used to make video files usable across billions of PCs, mobile phones, and other gadgets. Its customers include software maker Adobe, internet telephony company Skype and electronics manufacturers such as Nokia and Sony.

Google Founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin

Apparently, one of these chaps, Sergey Brin, even went to Hebrew school.

There's plenty of open source codecs. People just need to start utilizing them. Monopolies tend to help move people towards the open source stuff when the benefits out weigh the costs of obtaining/using the privately owned stuff.

People should look into setting up their own free wifi setup. There's a number of packages that are floating around to offer services to people who connect. You can use any thing that will communicate wirelessly. I've heard of setups where people who are gulching will use CB radio's to allow modem's to communicate which opens up options even if it is slow. Out here in Cali there's a network especially through out Napa where people share basic comm. resources to have their own "internet". Seattle wifi is another great example.

Be a node in the over all solution   .

Just do some google searching. You can be the first in your area to get things going. Get some friends on it. Do free advertising on craigslist. The other side is so completely and utterly screwed. They have to establish monopolies to exert their control. When people do things from the ground up that do NOT require centralization, good luck to the Jews and Masons who attempt to control it....
