Washington, 19 October (WashingtonTV)—The European Union on Sunday condemned a deadly suicide bombing in southeastern Iran, which killed at least 42 people, including several senior commanders of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps.

"The Presidency of the European Union condemns today's suicide attack in the Province of Sistan and Baluchestan in Iran and the sad loss of life which it caused," the Swedish presidency of the EU said in a statement.

"The Presidency conveys its condolences to the families of the victims of this attack," it added.

The Sunni rebel group, Jondollah, has claimed responsibility for the attack, which took place as the commanders were holding a meeting with local tribal chiefs, who were also among those killed.

Iranian officials have accused the United States, Britain and Pakistan of supporting that group. All three countries have denied any role in the attack.
