Dunkirk - Did Hitler really let the British escape?

Most people who have studied word war 2 closely know about Dunkirk and Operation Dynamo, how the British Expeditionary force retreated back to England leaving behind all heavy equipment and the army was miraculously saved by the Royal navy and not destroyed by the Germans in 1940. Many theories came out from that some say Hitler was a British/zionist agent who allowed it to happen, others say Hitler wanted peace with Britian so he allowed them to retreat and the mainstream view says it was a military error in which Hitler was convinced by Göring that the Luftwaffe could easily destroy the British forces and to relieve the ground forces and focus them on Paris.
