utter bollox. if you want to know how to win a fight do three things
1)Learn and look up PDF's on StreetFighting styles and techniques(and yes that means impro weapons too)
2)Learn a military system like Tae Kwon Do. If its good enough for the North Koreans its good enough for you(ive done 4 years red belt)
3)Learn NLP and situation awareness techniques.

obviously joe you couldn't punch your way out of a paper bag and ive had more fights than you hot dinners. Ive never lost a fight mainly because i knew how to pick them, but the once piece of advice on self defense is the first and often most overlooked.

IT IS QUITE SIMPLY TO RUN AWAY

you might not like/want to do that because of pride or whatever but it will keep you alive and it is a truism.
After a brutal life on the streets, i can tell you right now self defence is the art of not fighting. I hope this helps.

Thanks JB.  I've taken boxing, muay thai, krav maga, kickboxing, and a little brazilian jujitsu for about 4 years.  I have to admit Krav Maga is one of the best combat fighting systems around.  I heard the Russian's Systema is good too but I don't have any experience in it.  Tae Kwon Do sucks for any practically purposes.  I would recommend taking muay thai and brazilian ju jitsu if you had to pick something common.

Hey hey, don't turn this into a slanging match.

Self defence is the art of defending yourself and those with you. Quite simple really. More often than not it means flight, sometimes it means fight. I say this having done Lau Gar in my youth (brown sash) and more recently taken up Silat.
"The real menace of our Republic is the invisible government which like a giant octopus sprawls its slimy legs over our cities, states and nation. At the head is a small group of banking houses generally referred to as \'international bankers.\' This little coterie... run our government for their own selfish ends. It operates under cover of a self-created screen, seizes our executive officers, legislative bodies, schools, courts, newspapers and every agency created for the public protection."

Krav Maga is a pathetic rip-off of other martial arts. It borrows heavily from Silat, from what I can see. It may also have borrowed from the Russian systema mentioned by satya.

Oh Krav Maga is definitely is ripped-off from other martial arts, but that's what is good about it, it just takes all the practical things.    I'm not familiar with Silat, I'll have to look that up.
