Here's his infamous quote:

Quote"Our race is the Master Race. We are divine gods on this planet. We are as different from the inferior races as they are from insects. In fact, compared to our race, other races are beasts and animals, cattle at best. Other races are considered as human excrement. Our destiny is to rule over the inferior races. Our earthly kingdom will be ruled by our leader with a rod of iron. The masses will lick our feet and serve us as our slaves."
Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin in a speech to the Knesset [Israeli Parlament], quoted by Amnon Kapeliouk, "Begin and the Beasts," New Statesman, June 25, 1982

Amnon Kapeliouk was a French-Israeli journalist and author who passed away in 2009. He published the translation of the speech in New Statesman and received a lot of heat for it. My understanding is that New Statesman never retracted that quote but did publish an apology.

Does anyone have the article from New Statesman from which this quote came and does anyone have more info on this whole controversy?

there's a lot of spin on the Internet about it, for example -

in a free society, these old issues of Statesman mag would be available at college libraries.  of course that's one place to look, but i would be very surprised if the Zionist history staff at Stanford, for example, has not removed that particular issue from the shelves.

Here is my opinion on this post after some research.

This post is everywhere on the net and it makes me mad when I see it. Here is why sites looking for or promoting the truth should post a rider under the article. Don't delete it but post a big purple flag.

1. I cant prove its true even though it may be useful.

2. Several people have actually taken the time to go the library archives and read the cited edition of New Statesman and have said it does not have that quote. They have asked if the citation is incorrect and references the wrong edition. Given the air fares involved this is not a light undertaking.

3.I think the newspaper reference is being used to add credibility to a spin that has no basis as a published reference.

4.I'm not sure if its bad translation of the speech or using the actual article to try validate miss-information or if the quote is valid but with no proof. Either way something is wrong.

So given that I have to wonder:
- who would hope to gain from such a quote with a false paper reference?
- who would hope to gain from negating it?
- who would hope to gain from publishing the quote and then negating their own 'quote'?

Is it scare tactics? Shock and sympathy? Confusion? Truth?

My conclusion is that any reputable site will be balanced on this post in order not to have people ridicule it immediately and the rest of that sites content. Until there is more evidence that is.
