Edgar Steele Arrested in Murder for Hire Plot....Setup??

A North Idaho attorney who defended the Aryan Nations and its founder, Richard Butler, is scheduled to appear in federal court Tuesday on charges he arranged to have his wife and mother-in-law killed.


Edgar J. Steele, 64, was arrested Friday at his Sagle home and charged in the murder-for-hire plot. That was the day the women were to be killed in a car crash meant to look like an accident, according to a probable-cause affidavit.

The hearing had been set for Monday afternoon in federal court in Coeur d'Alene but was postponed a day after the courthouse received a letter containing a suspicious white powder and was evacuated. Federal offices in Spokane and Bellevue also received the suspicious deliveries, and the FBI is investigating.

A confidential witness occasionally employed by Steele met with the FBI Wednesday and told agents Steele would pay him to murder the women, according to the Idaho Statesman.

The witness said Steele had discussed a list of people he wanted dead, including his wife and her mother, six months earlier, the newspaper reported. The witness agreed to the plot and accepted travel money, court documents say.

According to the affidavit, the witness was supposed to kill the women Friday because Steele had an alibi for that day. So agents concealed a device on the informant and recorded Steele planning the murders, the document said.

"The United States magistrate had found probable cause for the offense," said Traci Whelan, an assistant U.S. attorney for Idaho. "As for the timing of the arrest, it was prudent, given he had apparently set a deadline for it."

Steele is well known from his work for hate groups such as the Aryan Nations and other high-profile clients, including the McGuckin family, who held off police during a 2001 Idaho standoff. He's also known for vocal anti-semitic and racist rants on the Internet.

I don't believe someone as smart as him would do something so stupid and if he was planning it he would not tell anyone. That and the fact they would not say where he was being held and the fact he was running for office (Governor of Idaho) made him a major thorn in the side of Jewish hate groups. This adds to my suspicions of a frame-up.They supposedly have him on tape talking about the plot, but anyone who has done audio editing knows how easy it is to splice and edit things together. Also, he had a major heart attack last year and that almost killed him. It all adds up to a very strange event.

Just like they had tape of Gov Blogo talking about a senate appointment. But when Blogo asked to play the whole tape, it couldn't be done. Why not? Because that tape would have had Blogo saying politically damaging things, or perhaps provided context to what he said.  

Thirty years after the fact we are still hearing about the antisemitic things Nixon said in the whitehouse. Latest news: Federal Prosecutors want Edgar Steele held without bail
Federal Prosectors are now saying Steele is a flight risk. Exactly how do they figure that? He has never been arrested for anything, has been an attorney for over 30 years, he owns a sizable house with acreage in the area, & has family there as well. What makes him a flight risk?? These 'people' are viscious thugs and will stop at nothing to destroy anyone they do not like, or see as a threat.

Update: Bomb found under the car of Edgar Steele's Wife
According to the story a bomb was found under the car of Edgar Steele's wife on Tuesday, after she supposedly drove the car to quick lube shop to have her oil changed.
This is now such an obvious set up:
1) Steele was arrested on Friday, but the 'bomb' under his wife's care wasn't discovered until Tuesday. The cops didn't check out her car after Steele was arrested?
2) The confidential informant was also the hitman that Steele supposedly tried to hire. So the feds let the 'informant' plant the bomb, and then let Steele's wife drive around with it under her car for another 4 days?
3) Her husband (of over 20 years) is arrested in a 'murder for hire plot' and she decides to get her oil changed? Makes no sense at all.
4) If the murder was supposed to look like 'an accident', how is a bomb going to make it look like an accident? The car just happened to explode and it is an accident? It's a completely hair brained scheme. How could an intelligent and well educated man cook up such a lame and pathetic plan?
5) According to both Steele and his son, the family had received numerous death threats in the past.
6) This whole incident happened on the same day that Steele was supposed to be arraigned. Very suspicious timing, imho. Good luck finding any jurors that aren't biased against Mr. Steele.
7) Steele appeared in court today and the judge issued a 'no contact order' between Steele and his wife. His wife immediately broke out in tears when the judge read this order to the court. Steele was also ordered to be held without bail.

COEUR D'ALENE -- A bomb has been found on a car owned by Edgar and Cyndi Steele when a woman brought the car to the Fast Lane Quik Lube on Government Way in Coeur d'Alene.
Steele was arrested last week for attempting to hire a hit man to kill his wife and mother-in-law; he had wanted it to look like they were killed in a car crash, according to court documents obtained by KXLY from the Idaho Statesman.
The Coeur d'Alene Police Department reports that a woman showed up at the Fast Lane Quik Lube, located at 484 West Bosanko Avenue, for an oil change. Mechanics at the business identified that woman as Cyndi Steele, Edgar Steele's wife. As mechanics were working to remove the oil plug they noticed a suspicious device underneath the car.

They said that as soon as they found the device Cyndi became extremely concerned and told the mechanics to get out.
The mechanics pushed the vehicle out of the business and called police. In turn the Spokane County Bomb Squad was called in to check the device on the car and aid in securing it.
After a few minutes, eyewitnesses say that Cyndi began to cry hysterically. A short while later her son came and told the mechanics they had received some death threats but nothing like this incident. The Steeles left with police officers a short time later.
The vehicle with the explosive device underneath it was a Mitsubishi Endeavor with Idaho license plates; the make, model and license plate of that Endeavor match a vehicle owned by the Steeles.
Edgar Steele was arrested last week after he had solicited a long-time acquaintance to kill his wife Cyndi and his mother-in-law.
Steele, according to court documents, wanted his wife and mother-in-law killed in a car crash last Friday while his wife visited her mother in Oregon. Those documents say he wanted their deaths to look like an accident.
