William Houston - William joined the Royal Navy at the end of the Second World War and specialised in weapons. After leaving the Service, he qualified as a Chartered Engineer and in administration before embarking on a career advising a large range of industrial and commercial concerns.

    Willliam Houston is the author of seven books. His first book Avoiding Adversity was published in 1989 warning businessmen of the coming recession, shortly to be followed by Meltdown and Riding the Business Cycle that warned of the growing disruption that would take place early in the next century.

Background and qualifications: Oundle School, RN Technical Staff College, MIET, CEng, Company Administration.

Royal Navy, qualified as specialist weapons officer – twelve years

De Havilland Propellers – fired the first British liquid fuelled ballistic rocket at Woomera.

Experience at management or consultancy level: boiler making, scientific instruments, hydraulics, aircraft equipment, sub-contracting, electric motors. metal windows, electric fans, wine and toy distribution, construction, office supply distribution and so on.

Experience as either chief executive, director or chairman level at plc's: repetition castings, foundries, distribution, thermal glass, garage equipment, textiles, fabrication, pre-fabricated buildings, electronic coin operated systems, weather based demand prediction system for retail trade.

Speciality: company turnaround and improving corporate performance.

Industrial advisor to Kleinwort Benson.

Published author of seven books related to corporate recovery, a leading treatise of business, economic, warfare and climatic cycles, implication of cycles on business management  etc.

Leading member of several groups on both sides of the Atlantic examining national, business, investment and personal policies in uncertain times. Latest  book Water, the Final Resource published in 2008. In completed form Tsunami, Riding the Immense Forces of Change and in draft form Riding Hyperinflation.
