A rather blatant snub occurred at the opening ceremonies of the Sochi Olympics today. Irina Rodnina was hand-selected by President Vladimir Putin to light the Olympic torch.

Why is this a big deal?  Because of this wordless Tweet with a digitally manipulated photo of the President and First Lady that Rodnina sent out last September...


She subsequently deleted the offending Tweet, but refused to apologize for it.

While Rodnina, currently a member of parliament for Putin's United Russia political party, has since deleted the photo from her Twitter account, she insisted she had done nothing wrong in a follow-up tweet, according to the Guardian. "Freedom of speech is freedom of speech," she wrote in September, "and you shoud answer for your own hang-ups."

U.S. Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul quickly responded on Twitter, calling Rodnina's actions "outrageous behavior, which only brings shame to her parliament and country."

Rodnina's selection to light the Olympic cauldron seems to suggest otherwise from Russia's perspective. (source)

Rodnina  is one of the most successful figure skaters in the world. She won 10 World Championships in a row and 3 successive Olympic gold medals. She is the first pair skater to win gold medals with two different partners. (source)

This is perhaps in retaliation to what some have called a "Star-Spangled middle finger" by President Obama.

Putin has loudly decried homosexuality with recently passed anti-gay legislation that criminalises portraying homosexuality to children as anything other than undesirable and unnatural. Despite the new laws, Putin has vowed not to persecute any athletes or attendees that wear rainbow badges during the Olympics.

Obambi is such a fag.  He's all about the ghey. Obummer is turning the military into a squad of queer police, prancing about the world to protect abortion and sodomy rights.

I was just pondering this over in my mind, and the false dichotomy flag went up.

The beef against Obambi is NOT because he is a black man. (half-white, whatever)
For example, I think that Alan Keyes would be a much better president than all of the people we get to vote for.

The reason why Obambi is evil is because he fights these illegal wars, he is destroying the Constitution, he supports degenerate social diseases like homosexuality and abortion, and he is helping the bankers to strip the country of all its wealth.

To mock Obambi because his skin is black, and so he looks like a monkey (like white George Bush) and must like bananas (?) will cause many people to side with Obambi, and to view him as the wrongfully victimized protector of human rights.

And who is opposing him? The old-school white president of Russia, who stands for those medieval notions of heterosexuality, marriage and traditional families, and Christian principles. 

So the ignorant young people can side with Obambi against the old-fashioned white man. Otherwise, they would be bigoted haters.

It's like a computer - binary.  1 and 0.  Either or.  Black or white.

They scheme it out to box you in.  If Putin would ignore the shit being thrown at him, contrary to the old cliche "if you ignore them, they will go away", they would actually be emboldened.  So, Putin must resist, and they use that resistance to box-in the ignorant young people in EXACTLY the way you describe. 

Putin just has to keep going, and we just have to hope that there is a second Putin waiting to take his place.  They've got this fucking "democracy" and "constitution" now, so he will have to stand down in a few years.  Let's hope the Olympics will make him so wildly popular in Russia that they change their "constitution" so that he can continue in power.
