Ghislaine Maxwell, accused of procuring girls for Jeffrey Epstein, arrested by FBI
https://www.rt.com/usa/493590-ghislaine-maxwell-arrested-fbi-epstein/?utm_source=browser&utm_medium=aplication_chrome&utm_campaign=chrome

Ghislaine Maxwell, the British socialite accused of acting as a pimp for deceased pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, has been arrested. She was charged by the FBI in relation to the late financier's alleged sex-trafficking operation.

She was arrested in New Hampshire, in the US, according to law enforcement sources that spoke with the media. She is expected to appear in the federal court later today on charges related to her dealings with the disgraced financier. Epstein was found dead in an apparent suicide while awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges.

Maxwell's arrest was confirmed by the FBI shortly after media outlets reported on the story, citing law enforcement sources.

In a six-count indictment, she was charged with conspiracy to entice minors to travel to engage in illegal sex acts.

Maxwell allegedly groomed the teenage girls who were sexually abused by Epstein and others. She has remained largely out of the public eye since August, after Epstein allegedly killed himself in prison. He had been arrested a month earlier on federal charges related to the exploitation of underage girls.

Her disappearance in the summer of 2019 led to a flurry of speculation about where she could be holed up. A photograph leaked to the press appeared to show her at an In-N-Out Burger fast-food restaurant in Los Angeles in late August.

One of Epstein's best-known accusers, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, filed a lawsuit against Maxwell in 2015. Giuffre has been pressing to have the court filings of the now-settled case unsealed, a move that Maxwell has vigorously opposed.

Dershowitz defends Ghislaine Maxwell by citing friendship with Clintons, Twitter scoffs
https://www.rt.com/usa/493804-dershowitz-defence-ghislaine-maxwell-epstein-clintons/?utm_source=browser&utm_medium=aplication_chrome&utm_campaign=chrome

Alan Dershowitz has penned a staunch defence of Ghislaine Maxwell following her arrest by the FBI. But his touting of her friendship with the Clintons as evidence of her character has left many incredulously scoffing.

The famous lawyer penned an op-ed for The Spectator in which he sought to set out his own relationship with Jeffrey Epstein's alleged madam and argue that she must be presumed innocent.

Dershowitz, who has himself faced accusations of involvement in Epstein's sex ring, explains that he was first introduced to the British socialite by a member of the Rothschild family and when he subsequently met her, on "several occasions", she was in the presence of esteemed people such as Nobel Prize winners, university presidents and even Bill and Hillary Clinton.

The irony of citing the Clintons as character references for a person accused of misconduct relating to sex didn't go unnoticed and many took to Twitter to point this out.

Former British ambassador Craig Murray wrote: "Alan Dershowitz argues that Ghislaine Maxwell could not possibly be a predatory sexual pervert because her friends were people like.... Bill Clinton. Ahem."

While another sardonic commenter added: "Yes of course. Those in positions of power and wealth never commit any crimes."

Dershowitz's article even prompted a response from Juanita Broaddrick, a former Bill Clinton volunteer who claims the politician raped her in a hotel room in the 1970s. "Weird... Why exactly did Dershowitz write this?" Broaddrick asked.

The piece appears to have backfired on Dershowitz as, far from explaining away his connection to Maxwell and Epstein, it sparked a slew of tweets about the subject. The reaction even saw his name to climb into the Twitter trending charts in the United States.

Maxwell appeared in court on Thursday accused of helping pedophile Epstein "identify, befriend and groom" multiple girls, including one as young as 14. The 58-year-old denies any wrongdoing and, if convicted, faces up to 35 years in prison.

From Phil Giraldi:
Judgement Day for Ghislaine Maxwell Finally Arrives. Or Maybe Not
https://www.strategic-culture.org/news/2020/07/09/judgement-day-for-ghislaine-maxwell-finally-arrives-or-maybe-not/

That Ghislaine Maxwell is finally in custody is certainly satisfying for all of us who believed her completely complicit in the horrible crimes against young girls committed by her associate Jeffrey Epstein. The internet is already alive with speculation regarding how long she will last in prison given the alleged death by suicide that eliminated Epstein in a Manhattan maximum security prison back in August 2019. Before jumping to too many conclusions, however, there are a number of additional developments in her case that should be considered.

First of all, Maxwell's arrest was not fortuitous. She clearly made some efforts to hide the bulk of her multi-million-dollar fortune, but she has been visible for those who knew where to look. She moved about freely, though keeping a low profile, and made "intentional efforts to avoid detection including moving locations at least twice, switching her primary phone number (which she registered under the name 'G Max') and email address, and ordering packages for delivery with a different person listed on the shipping label."

The 18-page prosecutorial indictment stated that "The Government has identified more than 15 different bank accounts held by or associated with the defendant from 2016 to the present, and during that same period, the total balances of those accounts have ranged from a total of hundreds of thousands of dollars to more than $20 million." Maxwell was charged with recruiting and "grooming" young women for Epstein to abuse, which could carry as much as a 35 year prison sentence.

As the 58-year old Maxwell, who has British citizenship as well as that of the United States, France and Israel, was considered to be a considerable flight risk she was not allowed bail after her arrest.

During the time while Maxwell was moving about freely, the FBI apparently did not even attempt to interview her. She spent a good deal of time with her lawyers and was reportedly seen having coffee in Los Angeles, shopping near her apartment in Paris, visiting Britain and also staying under protection in Israel. She was born in France and her father, the Israeli spy Robert, is presumed to have had citizenship in the Jewish state, which would have been transferrable to her. Both France and Israel are extremely difficult to deal with when it comes to extradition, so she presumably could have stayed in either country and would have avoided prosecution in the United States. One might also recall that Epstein had a genuine Austrian passport in a false name, a probable indicator of his intelligence agency ties. It is quite possible that Ghislaine also has some form of false identification.

When she was arrested, Ghislaine was living in a luxurious country house on 156 acres in a rural part of New Hampshire. She had bought the property in December for $1.07 million through a limited liability company that does not bear her name which was set up by one of her lawyers. Clearly the police knew exactly where she could be found. The house is a two-hour drive from the Canadian border, which might have been an intended refuge if she felt that the forces of law and order were moving in, but it begs the question as to why she would want to return to the U.S. at all. I rather suspect that she and her lawyers had actually been in touch with the authorities and some kind of plea bargain has been under consideration.

Why now? The timing would seem to relate to other developments. Only last week Federal judge Loretta Preska ruled that the documents relating to Epstein and Maxwell in the possession of litigant victim Virginia Giuffre had to be destroyed. Information about Epstein and Maxwell, extracted from a 2015 civil suit filed against Epstein by Giuffre, appear to have contained the names of individuals with whom Epstein had conducted business, both those he recorded in flagrante as well as his other clients and even his victims.

Preska ruled that Giuffre's lawyers had obtained the documents improperly and ordered that all the materials in the files "shall be destroyed." She also demanded proof that the material had been destroyed. The whereabouts of Epstein's secret tapings is not definitely known, but the FBI did seize all of the papers and other data at the Manhattan mansion after he was arrested. Some believe, however, that Ghislaine has some of the tapes, presumably hidden or in the custody of her lawyers.

The loss of the Giuffre files will seriously damage the criminal case being made by the government against Maxwell as well as the lawsuit being pursued by the victims against the Epstein estate. Ghislaine has been charged with procuring young girls and "grooming" them for sex with Epstein and his prominent clients, all of which she has denied. The upcoming trial could easily end relatively quickly with a toothless admission of guilt by Maxwell and a plea-bargained minimum prison sentence. All documents relating to the case, including any recordings, would be sealed, which would inter alia protect other perceived government equities, namely the prominent individuals and the spy agencies that might have been involved either as victims or perpetrators.

There is every indication that the Justice Department aided and abetted by the media is seeking to bury certain aspects of the Epstein case. A recent documentary on Netflix "Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich" carefully avoids any discussion of the likely Israeli espionage aspect of Epstein's activities. Ghislaine's father, who introduced Jeffrey to his daughter, was a prominent Mossad spy who received a state funeral in Israel after his mysterious death in 1991 which was attended by the prime minister as well as by all the former and serving heads of that country's intelligence services.

Additional confirmation of the Israeli connection comes from a recent book by former Israeli intelligence officer Ari Ben-Menashe, who claims that Epstein and partner in crime Ghislaine Maxwell were engaged in blackmailing prominent politicians on behalf of Israel's foreign intelligence service Mossad. According to Ben-Menashe, the two had been working directly for the Israeli government since the 1980's and their operation, which was funded by Mossad and also by prominent American Jews, was a classic "honey-trap" which used underage girls as bait to attract well-known politicians from around the world. The politicians would be photographed and video recorded when they were in bed with the girls. Prince Andrew and both Bill Clinton and Donald Trump were visitors to the Epstein New York City mansion where the recordings were made, while Clinton was a regular traveler on the "Lolita Express" airplane that Epstein used to transport his "friends" to his estate in Florida and his private Caribbean Island, referred to by locals as the "Pedophile Island."

Concerning Maxwell and Epstein, no one in the Justice Department appears to want to ask one simple question that would provide significant clarity if it were to be answered honestly. Conclusive evidence that Jeffrey Epstein was an Israeli or even American intelligence agent might well be derived from the former U.S. Attorney in Miami Alexander Acosta's comments when being later cleared by the Trump transition team. He was asked "Is the Epstein case going to cause a problem [for confirmation hearings]?" ... "Acosta testified that he'd had just one meeting on the Epstein case. He'd cut the non-prosecution deal with one of Epstein's attorneys because he had 'been told' to back off, that Epstein was above his pay grade. 'I was told Epstein belonged to intelligence and to leave it alone.'"

Why is no one in the various government investigative agencies or the mainstream media interested in what Acosta meant, even though it would be easy enough to ask him? Who told him to back off? And how did they explain it? The simple answer just might be that Epstein was in fact an Israeli spy preying on prominent figures and anything having to do with the Jewish state, no matter how malodorous, is a political hotwire and off limits to Democrats and Republicans alike. If all of that is true, we the public will not be seeing anything like a "show trial" of Ghislaine Maxwell that reveals all and names names. She will quietly disappear into the legal system and before too long she will be out and around again, taking her secrets with her.

Ghislaine Maxwell asks for $5-million bail, says she's afraid of catching coronavirus
https://www.rt.com/usa/494449-ghislaine-maxwell-requests-bail/?utm_source=browser&utm_medium=aplication_chrome&utm_campaign=chrome

Ghislaine Maxwell, currently awaiting trial for allegedly acting as deceased pedophile Jeffrey Epstein's pimp, has asked to be released on bail, claiming that she's at risk of catching the coronavirus in her jail cell.

Maxwell's arraignment hearing is scheduled for Tuesday. Though prosecutors have deemed her an "extreme" flight risk, Maxwell's lawyers requested on Friday that she be released on a $5-million bond, on the condition she surrender her passports, submit to electronic monitoring and hire a security detail.

Her continued detention at Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center, they argued, puts her at "significant risk" of catching the coronavirus, which has already infected 55 inmates and staff at the jail.

$5 million might be a small change to Maxwell, who was able to buy her million-dollar New Hampshire hideout in cash last year, and since 2016 operated more than 15 different bank accounts with balances of between $100,000 and $20 million, at least according to prosecutors.

Still, her lawyers argued that she should be let out, as she "is not Jeffrey Epstein."

Epstein made a similar request for bail after his arrest last summer, requesting that he be placed under house arrest with security paid out of his own pocket. Epstein offered up his $77-million New York mansion and private jet as collateral, but the request was denied, and Epstein was found dead in his Manhattan jail cell a month later, his suspicious death ruled a suicide.

Maxwell's alleged offenses are every bit as serious as Epstein's. The disgraced socialite is charged with six federal crimes, including enticement of minors, sex trafficking, and perjury. According to her indictment, Maxwell "assisted, facilitated, and contributed to Jeffrey Epstein's abuse of minor girls," luring and grooming victims as young as 14 years old.

Ghislaine Maxwell pleads NOT GUILTY to charges of procuring minors for sexual abuse
https://www.rt.com/usa/494746-maxwell-pleads-not-guilty/?utm_source=browser&utm_medium=aplication_chrome&utm_campaign=chrome

Ghislaine Maxwell, the long-time confidante of Jeffrey Epstein, has pleaded not guilty to charges of supplying the late financier and convicted sex offender with underage girls for trafficking and abuse.

"Not guilty, your honor," Maxwell told Judge Alison Nathan at Manhattan federal court on Tuesday. She then waived the public reading of her indictment. The British socialite appeared at the hearing via video from the Brooklyn jail where she is currently held.

Maxwell's lawyers have argued that the media is "wrongly trying to substitute her for Epstein — even though she'd had no contact with Epstein for more than a decade, had never been charged with a crime or been found liable in any civil litigation, and has always denied any allegations of claimed misconduct."

Maxwell has been held without bail since her arrest on July 2 at her secret estate in New Hampshire. Prosecutors say she is an "extreme" flight risk and should not be released on the $5 million bail her defense has suggested.

"The defendant has not only the motive to flee, but the means to do so swiftly and effectively," prosecutors wrote in the court papers, citing Maxwell's wealth and the documented history of her international connections.

Maxwell "vigorously denies the charges, intends to fight them, and is entitled to the presumption of innocence," her lawyers declared.

She is charged with six criminal counts and accused of "identifying, befriending and grooming" at least three underage girls for Epstein to sexually abuse between 1994 and 1997.

Epstein died last August in a New York jail where he was awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. His death was officially ruled a suicide, though intense speculation has surrounded the circumstances, with many suggesting foul play. Earlier this week, the Daily Mail claimed that Maxwell was being moved between cells to "avoid assassins."

The infamous socialite's trial was set for 12 July 2021, with the judge yet undecided on bail.

Wonder if this will put a bit of fear into the judge and prosecutor in the Ghislaine Maxwell case.

Disguised gunman shoots husband and son of federal judge investigating Deutsche Bank-Jeffrey Epstein case
https://www.rt.com/usa/495254-federal-judge-home-invasion/?utm_source=browser&utm_medium=aplication_chrome&utm_campaign=chrome

A gunman dressed as a delivery driver has killed the son of federal Judge Esther Salas in New Jersey and left her husband critically injured. The judge presides over an ongoing case involving Jeffrey Epstein.

The shooting happened on Sunday morning at the home of Judge Salas in North Brunswick township in New Jersey. The gunman dressed as a Federal Express delivery driver to get in, according to media reports. The suspect remains at large, the FBI said on Twitter.

Daniel Anderl, 20, a freshman student at the Catholic University in Washington DC, was killed by the shooter with a bullet to the heart.

Mark Anderl, 63, a criminal defense attorney and former assistant Essex County prosecutor, was taken to the Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick with multiple gunshot wounds. He underwent surgery and remains in critical but stable condition.

Salas was unharmed in the shooting, which happened while she was in the basement of the house. It was not immediately clear whether the gunman targeted anyone specifically when invading the home of the victims.

The incident happened shortly after Salas took the case brought by Deutsche Bank investors, who have accused bank management of failing to vet problematic customers like convicted child molester and sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. Earlier this month, the bank agreed to pay $150 million over the same misdeeds to settle with New York regulators.

As a federal judge, Salas dealt with several other high-profile cases of corruption and financial crimes, including the case involving reality TV personality Teresa Giudice and her husband Giuseppe. In 2014, Salas sentenced them to prison for bankruptcy fraud and tax evasion.

Before being nominated for federal judge by President Barack Obama in 2010, Salas served as an assistant public defender and a US Magistrate Judge in New Jersey. She is the daughter of a Mexican-Jewish father and a Cuban-Catholic mother. She was the first Latina to serve as a federal judge in New Jersey.

Epstein's jail death from apparent suicide remains a subject of much speculation due to his proximity to many powerful people. The news about the shooting is likely to fan suspicions about the nature of the disgraced billionaire's fate.

US judge authorizes release of previously-sealed documents in case of Jeffrey Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell
https://www.rt.com/usa/495639-ghislaine-maxwell-documents-epstein/?utm_source=browser&utm_medium=aplication_chrome&utm_campaign=chrome

A Manhattan judge has ruled in favor of releasing material related to a years-old civil lawsuit against Ghislaine Maxwell, to be used in her current trial where she is facing charges of conspiring to sexually abuse minors.

The sealed material is said to contain the names of influential people who had contact with – and traveled with – the late Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sexual predator whom Ghislaine worked with for years, and is accused of abusing women and minors with.

Maxwell, who has been held without bail in a New York jail since being arrested earlier this month, argued through her lawyers that information contained in the material stemming from the civil case, which was settled three years ago, could influence "potential witnesses or alleged victims."

The previous lawsuit was brought by Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who has accused Epstein, Britain's Prince Andrew, and American lawyer Alan Dershowitz of sex crimes. Her deposition will be one of many that will be unsealed. However, it is not clear what prominent names could be identified through the documents though, as US District Judge Loretta Preska said that the personal identifying information of people mentioned in the material, as well as the names of non-parties, will be redacted.

Maxwell's attorney asked for a two-week emergency stay to appeal the decision by the court, but was given only a week. The unsealing of documents will continue, however, with some expected to be released to the public in at least a week's time.

Other documents related to the 2015 defamation suit include flight logs for Epstein's private jet, which has been dubbed the 'Lolita Express', police reports from Palm Beach where Epstein had a home, and a deposition from Maxwell where her lawyers say she was asked "intrusive" and personal questions.

Ghislaine Maxwell complains she's being mistreated in jail because of Epstein's 'suicide', as lawyers want her moved into gen-pop
https://www.rt.com/usa/497740-ghislaine-maxwell-complains-jail-suicide/?utm_source=browser&utm_medium=aplication_chrome&utm_campaign=chrome

Accused madam Ghislaine Maxwell has been mistreated in prison because of her partner-in-crime Jeffrey Epstein's untimely death in custody, her lawyers have complained, asking that she be moved out of solitary confinement.

Arguing that she's been "treated worse" than other prisoners "as a result of what occurred with Mr Epstein," Maxwell's lawyers claimed in a letter sent Monday that the "uniquely onerous conditions" of her imprisonment are preventing her from participating in her own defense.

Maxwell must be released into the general prison population and given increased access to a computer in order to prepare her defense, her lawyers demanded, adding that the government has still not revealed the names of the three victims she allegedly trafficked across state lines for sexual purposes. The 58-year-old socialite was arrested last month and charged with four counts related to the trafficking of young girls and two counts of perjury. While prosecutors have released "nearly 13,000 pages" of documents into evidence, they have not specified the names of the three girls Maxwell supposedly trafficked.

Noting that Epstein "is alleged to have engaged in misconduct with dozens, if not hundreds, of alleged victims," the attorneys pointed out Maxwell can hardly be expected to guess which ones have accused her of grooming and abusing them between 1994 and 1997.

Her attorneys have apparently succeeded in having her taken off suicide watch, which involved her wearing "special clothing" and being woken by guards several times a night, but they complained she is still subject to multiple cell searches every day, "numerous body scans," and guards listening in on her phone conversations. These precautions, the lawyers claimed, are purely "a reaction to the circumstances surrounding the pretrial detention and death of Mr Epstein" and thus unjustified, because Maxwell has never been suicidal in her life.

Of course, one might argue that Epstein was never suicidal either, until his still-unexplained "suicide attempt" while imprisoned with burly ex-cop Nicholas Tartaglione, accused of killing and burying four men in his backyard in a drug deal gone bad. Less than a month after that incident, the wealthy predator was dead of an apparent suicide, while the guards tasked with checking on him slept at their desks and falsified their records.

Unlike Epstein, who expired under those dubious circumstances in Manhattan's Metropolitan Correctional Center, Maxwell is being held in Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center. Neither is known for the salubriousness of its accommodation, and acclimatizing to her new environment has no doubt been difficult for Maxwell, whose trial is set to begin in 11 months. She is unlikely to garner sympathy from the dozens of victims who have come forward to accuse her of trafficking them as young girls to Epstein and other powerful men, however.

Hundreds of pages of documents from a defamation suit filed by Epstein victim Virginia Roberts Giuffre last month revealed Maxwell was in contact with Epstein long after she claimed to have lost touch with him. The convicted sex offender replied to an email from Maxwell in 2015, telling her to go out and party because she'd "done nothing wrong" and should "start acting like it." The documents also backed up claims that Epstein and Maxwell were trafficking the girls in order to blackmail politicians and other prominent figures.

Maxwell's lawyers have tried to prevent other documents from that case from being unsealed, however, despite a judge's order demanding they be made public. They argued "critical" information has surfaced that will affect both the defamation and the criminal cases. Maxwell has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
