Contrary to popular belief which was enforced by myths from the 1001 nights (not Arabian nights it was Persian), Harun Al Rashid was a very pious Khalif he was known to pray a 100 Raka'a (Muslims pray 5 times a day sunrise:2 Raka'a, Noon:4 Raka'a, afternoon: 4 Raka'a, sunset:3 Raka'a and evening:4 Raka'a a =total of 17), he used to dress up as a poor commoner and visit the streets of Baghdad to know if the people are happy or not and he was also a famed warrior Khalif who protected Muslim lands and defeated the Byzantium empire (Superpower of the day) in several battles. One of those battles he fought against empress Erene when he was only 18 and forced the Byzantium empire to pay him tribute every year of 30,000 gold dinars and every year when the tribute arrived in Baghdad a festival would be held and the Byzantium soldiers carrying it were honored as well.

In 802 A.D. Nikephorus deposed Irene and sent a letter to Harun Al Rashid saying:

"From Nikephorus emperor of the Romans to Harun king of the Arabs, my predessor treated you like a citedal and herself like a pawn, she carried to you her wealth which you are not equal to carry it, so save yourself and Mecca and return the gold or else the sword is between you and me"

Harun Al Rashid was angry he took the same letter and wrote on its back:

"In the name of Allah the most merciful, from Harun Commander of the Faithful, to Nikephorus the Roman dog, son of the Infidels, You will not hear my reply, you will SEE it".

Harun Al Rashid was as good as his word, he marched his army and sacked Heraculea, forcing Nicephorus to pay the tribute like his predessor, but as soon as Harun Al Rashid was back in Baghdad Nikephorus stopped sending the tribute so Harun set out again and defeated the Roman army and wounding Nikephorus himself.

I wish there was a Harun Al Rashid (Aaron the wise) these days, to send Livni:

"In the Name of Allah the most merciful, from Harun Commander of the Faithful, to Livni the israeli dog, daughter of the infidels, you will not hear my reply, you will SEE it" and then we'd see an end to zionism!
