weirdly i have been predicting a zio orchestrated war with india and china. logically these two countries have the largest populations and so population reduction has to hit here.

Absolutely a possible scenario. I know for a fact that "educated" Chinese are deathly afraid of "the masses" and long for reduction of their own population. I'm not as familiar with India, but I'm sure with the caste system the upper castes have little to zero empathy for the lower castes.

Depressing. Do people really suck that badly?

In Chinese philosophy two of the great philosophers are Mencius (Mengzi) and Xunzi. Mencius held that human nature is fundamentally good, while Xunzi said that we are essentially prone to being bad.

I say we're neither. Humans are fundamentally petty.
Take heed to yourself lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither you go, lest it become a snare in the midst of you.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.  The largest democracy in the world against the largest communist country, cold war zio-polarization all over again.
