This is about the dumbest article I have ever read. Talk about manipulation. Let me explain it this way. If you want to eat healthy well guess what? You have a psychological disorder/mental disorder. If this isn't proof that they want to keep us eating crap and stay sick than I don't know what is. The article is pure manipulation and garbage of the most disgusting order.

Healthy food obsession sparks rise in new eating disorder
Fixation with healthy eating can be sign of serious psychological disorder

Eating disorder charities are reporting a rise in the number of people suffering from a serious psychological condition characterised by an obsession with healthy eating.

The condition, orthorexia nervosa, affects equal numbers of men and women, but sufferers tend to be aged over 30, middle-class and well-educated.

The condition was named by a Californian doctor, Steven Bratman, in 1997, and is described as a "fixation on righteous eating". Until a few years ago, there were so few sufferers that doctors usually included them under the catch-all label of "Ednos" – eating disorders not otherwise recognised. Now, experts say, orthorexics take up such a significant proportion of the Ednos group that they should be treated separately.

"I am definitely seeing significantly more orthorexics than just a few years ago," said Ursula Philpot, chair of the British Dietetic Association's mental health group. "Other eating disorders focus on quantity of food but orthorexics can be overweight or look normal. They are solely concerned with the quality of the food they put in their bodies, refining and restricting their diets according to their personal understanding of which foods are truly 'pure'."

Orthorexics commonly have rigid rules around eating. Refusing to touch sugar, salt, caffeine, alcohol, wheat, gluten, yeast, soya, corn and dairy foods is just the start of their diet restrictions. Any foods that have come into contact with pesticides, herbicides or contain artificial additives are also out.

The obsession about which foods are "good" and which are "bad" means orthorexics can end up malnourished. Their dietary restrictions commonly cause sufferers to feel proud of their "virtuous" behaviour even if it means that eating becomes so stressful their personal relationships can come under pressure and they become socially isolated.

"The issues underlying orthorexia are often the same as anorexia and the two conditions can overlap but orthorexia is very definitely a distinct disorder," said Philpot. "Those most susceptible are middle-class, well-educated people who read about food scares in the papers, research them on the internet, and have the time and money to source what they believe to be purer alternatives."

Deanne Jade, founder of the National Centre for Eating Disorders, said: "There is a fine line between people who think they are taking care of themselves by manipulating their diet and those who have orthorexia. I see people around me who have no idea they have this disorder. I see it in my practice and I see it among my friends and colleagues."

Jade believes the condition is on the increase because "modern society has lost its way with food". She said: "It's everywhere, from the people who think it's normal if their friends stop eating entire food groups, to the trainers in the gym who [promote] certain foods to enhance performance, to the proliferation of nutritionists, dieticians and naturopaths [who believe in curing problems through entirely natural methods such as sunlight and massage].

"And just look in the bookshops – all the diets that advise eating according to your blood type or metabolic rate. This is all grist for the mill to those looking for proof to confirm or encourage their anxieties around food."

They're attacking organic food. They know that people are learning about the crap they put into our food so now they're going on offensive.

They are all liars! Don't believe their nonsense.

I think you guys are being to simplistic with your analysis. I have had the misfortune of meeting many people with a self righteous attitude toward their personal diet. Firstly, we have the Vegetarians, the Vegans, the Organic food people and the raw food people just to name a few. All these people have decided that the quality of food that is available to the general ignorant masses is really just unhealthy. I would agree with this premise but I have notice that these people are mostly over-educated.

What really stands out in my mind is how plugged in this group of people are to all the media outlets. Almost everyone of the people that I have met are pseudo-experts on nutrition. They know that something is wrong with their food supply but have yet to put the pieces of the puzzle together in such a way as to deduce that someone is deliberately trying to kill or poison them. For the most part their obsession with food is control issue with is deeply psychologically rooted. The Rense site is probably loaded with these poor over informed victims.

Nah, most of the organic, vegan, raw food types are the types that go to Burning Man and Rainbow, and talk about building "greenways" and lowering carbon footprints. They're hooked into the mainstream zio-media so they worship Obama. The Rense site is populated with a different crowd.

The article brings to mind something Kevin MacDonald noted that reall struck me, and that is the need to pathologize dissenting behavior.

IN part that applies here. More than that it is 'simply' an attack on people who just want to eat healthy food. That's what is at the heart of it, I wouldn't get too lost in the detail. It is an insidious way of saying that if you want to eat right than you are a nutt. People will agree with this article because most people eat like shit and it will justify their bad eating habits while agreeing that people who are concerned about the food they eat are whackjobs. It's very clever. Pull up some of this lady's other editorials and you will find she is a very cunning writer.

I'm sure they will be coming out with a prescription drug for this disturbing mental disorder.  ;)

I agree with this but this is another group that was created because propaganda. In developed countries there is so much information that people can be fractured by any trigger event or meme. Memes are usually the result of a marketing strategy. Propaganda.

So true. And the masters of propaganda are the best students of human behavior, which is why they constantly prey upon our need to belong to a tribe. Republican vs. Democrat, Labour vs. Conservative, black vs. white, Yankees vs. Red Sox, hell even Shirts vs. Skins, it doesn't matter as long as we're divided up.

The media spin shysters are always hyping up new disorders, and you're probably right someone will offer some "treatment" for this imaginary pathology.

I find the concept that anyone can be 'over-educated' to be quite disturbing.
"The real menace of our Republic is the invisible government which like a giant octopus sprawls its slimy legs over our cities, states and nation. At the head is a small group of banking houses generally referred to as \'international bankers.\' This little coterie... run our government for their own selfish ends. It operates under cover of a self-created screen, seizes our executive officers, legislative bodies, schools, courts, newspapers and every agency created for the public protection."

What I find interesting is that the ziomedia is reaching the point where it is starting to lose all credibility, even to the average Joe.

all the replies are so great, you guys are obviously shoulders above me. mostly i only read.

my experience with this 'healthy food eating disorder' is nearly all the food is poisoned in the north american states. By nearly all, I mean 99%. On top of this there is a lot of neurosis programming by the self-described 'masters', tending people towards their nervous input limit while these people try to stay members of the synthetic 'Society' shaped by their masters.

The healthiest versions of healthy eating can be found among the rainbow family, as the earlier poster pointed out, because it's combined with a life-style shift out of the synthetic 'Society'. This and other reasons I feel is why the rainbow family has experienced a heavy crackdown in the last ten or so years. Witness also the Manna Storehouse raid in ohio, where people (customers) had an opportunity through the family members running the storehouse, to get their food healthy and fresh, nearly direct from farmers, cutting out the corporations. This may have been a test case in addition to an attack, to see how fluoridated the people have become, to see how the locals would react. Unfortunately not very much from what I can see. One-hundred or more years ago, the local USDA office would have been leveled by tractors.

The 'Organic' Standards Act USDA Organic, was designed to usurp the organic foods movement, the back to naturally-grown fresh vegetables and other foods, occurring spontaneously throughout the country. I knew farmers who then dumped any mention of organic on their label, as the misunderstanding was 'organic' had become a word which could only be used on 'USDA-Certified Organic Foods', when now I believe, that the belief 'Organic' is the same as 'organic' is a misnomer, just like the Rosenfeld/Roosevelt Presidential Order (through their 'dummy corporation and it's high office of President' - Huis) had 'All U.S. Persons turn in their gold (money) to the nearest private Federal Reserve Bank branch' in 1933, in exchange for banker's notes.

'Organic' is not 'organic', and a careful reading of these private codes of the UNITED STATES corporation, which have effectively forced farmers due to their own ignorance, away from using a valid adjective -  'organic', combined with synthetic ideas like 'Healthy Food Obsession Disorder', are all attacks using misnomer upon the american people and their unalienable connection to the land. The continuing ignorance of the people is their own biggest enemy.
moved on.

and believes \'jewish culture\' is mostly one of supporting their organized crime syndicates, with a enough veneer and an organized system of destroying and reshaping other cultures, to obfuscate the truth to most people.

You may be reticent at most times, but that was a nice post.

It's not just the corporation of the US in which this is happening. A local farmer, who had quit his high-paying job as an executive at a top semiconductor firm to go back to the land, investing most of his money in the process, recently closed down his blog over controversy about his use of the term "organic." Because the "authorities" had completely taken over the definition of organic through multitudinous regulations and certification requirements he got attacked by brainless defenders of gubmint orthodoxy despite using zero artificial fertilizers or pesticides. He had finally made a breakthrough and gotten his fruit to penetrate a mass distribution network, but when the criticism about his lack of certification came out he lost that channel and now he's got a surplus of naturally-grown fruit blocked from better distribution by bureaucratic and semantic nonsense.

His farm welcomes WWOOF-type laborers, and I'm considering volunteering some time in the near future despite not being a fan of his main fruit variety.

excellent post

their next propaganda is to treat a disorder "for loving thy neighbour as thyself" - they will claim that we are all individual gods and everything revolves around the self at the cost of anyone who gets in your way - oh yeah, I forgot, they've already sold this ideology to the masses starting with Californicated Hollywood - these are our idols - we must strive to be just like them - jewmedia has done an excellent job over the past century of utilizing this form of propaganda to socialize the masses - and we've bought into it.  You too can be perfect just like the gods you worship on screen everyday - for a small cost though - your soul, for idolizing the wrong gods - them and yourself instead of a higher power.
Matthew 22:  36-40
Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him.  Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.  This is the first and great commandment.  And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.  On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Precisely my friend. This piece of propaganda is so readily discernable as such that it signifies how desperate they have become. They see their long held "dream" slipping away and are desperately trying to get back in control with ever more transparent attempts to block the emergence of truth. The cows are starting to declare: "No, we won't be milked tonight." I love it. Desperation leads to grievous errors. How many have they made just in very recent vintage?

This is just so Orwellian.

-Sugar - empty calories, not to mention that its most common form as an additive in food is high fructose corn syrup, which alters hormonal balance and has been shown to contain mercury in over 50% of commercial products tested!
-Salt - kills everything it comes in contact with, can cause hypertension
-Caffeine - stimulant. Can drain the endocrine system (and I have a hard time kicking it)
-Alcohol - diruretic, empty calories, burdens the liver and brain, toxic
-Wheat, gluten, yeast - a lot of people are allergic, plus refined grains are empty calories and act like sugar paste in the gut
-Soya - suppresses enzyme activity and the immune system, accentuates female characteristics in males and females (gives men tits, makes them effeminate, lowers sperm count; rots women's tits off), is now over 90% genetically modified
-Corn - a starch, also highly genetically modified
-Dairy foods - full of blood, puss, phlegm, recombinant bovine growth hormone and other hormones, steroids and vaccines; and even if certain types are neutral or potentially healthful, that has been taken care of with homogenization
-Foods that have come into contact with pesticides, herbicides or contain artificial additives - self-explanatory

I love it how they say most people aren't aware they have this syndrome. That's because it's only a pathology to creatures that want to turn everything completely upside-down. Tikkun Olam.

That's off the top of my head. Apologies in advance if any of the above are in error.
