Vanunu: Obama should free me since he wants to rid the world of nukes

Atomic spy Mordechai Vanunu said on Monday that US President Barack Obama should act to set him free since he wants to rid the world of nuclear weapons.

Vanunu spoke to reporters at the Supreme Court after a hearing on his appeal to overrule a district court ruling sentencing him to three months in jail for establishing contact with a foreign agent.

Vanunu is prohibited from speaking to the foreign press and others as a condition for his release from jail even though he had completed his full prison sentence of 18 years for revealing classified information about Israel's nuclear capacity to the London-based Sunday Times.

The court has not yet ruled on Vanunu's appeal.
