(CNN) -- A T-shirt vendor who noticed smoke coming out of a tinted, dark green sport utility vehicle alerted police to what turned out to be a potential bomb placed in Times Square.

"We avoided what could have been a very deadly event," said Mayor Michael Bloomberg early Sunday morning. "It certainly could have exploded and had a pretty big fire and a decent amount of explosive impact."

President Obama, who was updated on the situation late Saturday night, said the federal government was prepared to provide support. The Department of Homeland Security also said it was monitoring developments.

Two federal officials said Sunday it was too early to tell whether the incident involved al Qaeda or another international terror group. The national threat level remained at "yellow," or elevated.

Officials said authorities are going through video from dozens of surveillance cameras in Times Square to determine who left the Nissan Pathfinder with its engine running and hazard lights flashing on a street shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday.

Inside the vehicle, police found three propane tanks, two filled five-gallon gas containers, two clocks with batteries, consumer-grade fireworks and a locked metal box that resembled a gun locker.

The wiring around the device "looked amateurish," Bloomberg said.

A robot from the city police department's bomb squad smashed through the back window of the SUV and retrieved the box after several hours. It was taken to a bomb squad facility in the Bronx.

Shortly before 6 a.m. Sunday, the Pathfinder was loaded on to the back of a flatbed truck, covered with a yellow tarp and towed away

The forensics on the bomb component will take time and are complex, a federal law enforcement official said. But, the official said, "the scientists can do wonders."

Officials did not immediately know how the bomb would have been detonated, nor did anyone claim responsibility.

Incident similiar to Glasgow bombing, official says

"So far, we have no reports of anybody running away (from the car)," Bloomberg said. "That doesn't mean there won't be when we look at all the cameras."

Authorities may also appeal to the public to provide personal photos taken at the time, a federal law enforcement official said.

Following the incident, security in other burroughs was heightened, but nothing suspicious was reported anywhere else, the mayor said.

The vehicle's VIN number had been removed, but investigators said they remained hopeful that they will be able to locate a VIN somewhere in the vehicle; they are stamped in various places, the official said.

With that information, they can trace the history of the SUV to some degree.

The Pathfinder's license plate was taken from another truck, Bloomberg said. Authorities interviewed the truck owner who told them he took it to a junkyard. The mayor said authorities did not have reason to believe the truck owner "had anything to do with it or his story is false."

A law enforcement official told CNN on Sunday that the Connecticut plate came from an automobile junkyard near Bridgeport, Connecticut. Under Connecticut law, plates must be returned to a local Department of Motor Vehicle branch or to a Connecticut state trooper if a car is to be junked for scrap metal.

The shutdown began Saturday when the T-shirt vendor, a veteran of the Vietnam War, saw smoke coming from a box inside a vehicle with Connecticut plates on 45th Street near 7th Avenue. The vendor notified a New York police officer on horseback, who smelled gunpowder from the vehicle.

Another street vendor Hamid Boubain said he saw smoke coming from the vehicle.

"I told my friend, 'Yo yo look at this!' I mean it looks like a fireworks inside," he said. "I don't know; it's hard to explain. After that, like 15 minutes later, the smoke came out. One of the officers came, and he started kicking everybody from the corner for safety."

The Marriott Marquis hotel did not allow anyone to enter or leave. A nearby TGIFriday's restaurant shut its doors and evacuated staff. Theater-goers found themselves unable to leave shows.

Pamela Hall was at a McDonald's when a police officer told her to pick up her food and leave.

"They told us to go straight to 47th street," Hall said. "Nobody was frightened. The cops weren't upset and the people were not noticeably upset. We were all just perplexed. We just went to 47th street and ended up taking pictures and watching."

Speaking to reporters, Bloomberg said: "You know we often say that when a terrorist is caught, he has a map of New York City in his pocket. ... And tonight is a further reminder of the dangers that we face."

Early Sunday morning, Gov. David Paterson issued a statement commending the police department.

"Tonight, we owe an incredible debt of gratitude to the heroic actions of the New York City Police Department and to a single vigilant New Yorker who identified a suspicious vehicle near Times Square in New York City," he said.

"Luckily, no one is hurt, and now the full attention of city, state and federal law enforcement will be turned to bringing the guilty party to justice in this act of terrorism."

On Fox News this AM there was an interview with a person who had seen flames in the SUV.  Apparently he was on of the eye witnesses, if not the person who called the police.

It smacked of the 911 video where the media interviewed "the actor" who explained the 'high heat of the fire caused the buildings to collapse due to loss of structural integrity'.  The guy in today's interview was an obvious tribe member and he delivered his response to the questioner with rehearsed exuberance.

MYFOXNY.COM - Fox 5 reports that the Pakistani Taliban has claimed responsibility for the bomb plot.

According to Fox News , in a 1 minute video allegedly released by the Pakistani Taliban, the group says the attack is revenge for the death of its leader Baitullah Mehsud and the recent killings of the top leaders of al-Qaida in Iraq.

Images of the slain militants are shown as an unidentified voice recites the message. English subtitles are at the bottom of the screen.

According to the AP, an unidentified speaker on the tape also says the attack comes in response to American "interference and terrorism in Muslim Countries, especially in Pakistan."

The claim could not be immediately confirmed andhe tape makes no specific reference to the attack nor does it mention that it was a car bomb or that it took place in New York City.

A text in gold letters on a black background at the start of the video congratulates Muslims for the "jaw-breaking blow to Satan's USA." As the speaker recites the message, images of the slain militants referred to flash across the screen. English subtitles are provided at the bottom of the screen.

The video was uncovered Sunday by SITE, which monitors militant websites and has been accurate with such militant claims in the past.

The Pakistani Taliban is one of Pakistan's largest and deadliest militant groups. It has strong links to al-Qaida and is based in the northwest close to the Afghan border. The group has carried out scores of bloody attacks inside Pakistan in recent years, mostly against Pakistani targets, but it has made no secret of its hatred toward the United States.

The investigation into the Times Square bomb plot is ongoing. Mayor Bloomberg called the improvised device "amateurish".

According to the New York Times, a 911 call on Sunday morning warned that the bomb plot was merely a diversion for a much bigger explosion that is set to happen at Times Square.

More information on these developments throughout Sunday. The FBI released the following statement:

The FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force in New York, along with the NYPD, has responded to Times Square in response to the vehicle and device. Bomb technicians, Evidence Response Team members, and investigators are on scene and a command post has been established. All of the resources of the New York FBI office are available to assist with this ongoing investigation. Numerous initial reports will be checked and authenticated and the appropriate leads will be set.

PITTSBURGH -- Police say a suspected device near the finish line of the Pittsburgh Marathon prompted them to halt the race briefly while it was rendered harmless.

Police say the device was found in a small microwave oven on the sidewalk after the leaders had finished the course Sunday morning. Police Lt. Kevin Kraus says several blocks were cordoned off near the original finish line for the marathon and half-marathon and police tried to reroute the race but eventually ended up delaying it for 10 to 12 minutes.

The bomb squad used a robot to disable the device, which Kraus says investigators now believe was not an actual explosive

Who would have believed it?  Only days after a warning of an Israeli "false flag" bombing against the US "in the works" a massive car bomb is discovered in Time Square!  Better yet, though no intelligence organization in the world could discover anyone claiming responsibility for this embarrassing failure, SITE Intelligence, a group rumored as the "voice of the Mossad" has placed the blame on the Pakistani Taliban.

This is the same group that has come up with numerous bin Laden "audio" tapes, seemingly, though tiny and nearly totally unstaffed, whenever it is convenient for Israel to point a finger at someone, magically Site Intelligence, run by former IDF soldier Rita Katz, whose father was executed as a spy by Saddam Hussein, makes another "unbelievable" intelligence find.

Site Intelligence finds are not only timely for Israel, when the world is focused on claims they have been planning a 'dirty bomb' attack to send the US to war against Iran, but always tend to support mysterious organizations run from the caves of the Afghanistan/Pakistan border region.

SMOKING GUN?

After the demise of Iraq, victim of falsified intelligence, no eliminated as an Israeli competitor, all eyes turned to Pakistan, Islam's only nuclear state.  To establish footholds to destabilize Pakistan, a pro-Indian/Israeli government under President Karzai was installed in Kabul.

After 9 years, no evidence of any terrorist activity involved in 9/11 has been found in Afghanistan.  The great "net" meant to catch Osama bin Laden and armies of Al Qaeda terrorists came up empty.  Instead, we are told from reliable sources that Arab nations friendly to the US released criminals, transporting them to Afghanistan.

These "foreign fighters" actually little more than "extras" in a massive global theatre, kept the small US forces engaged for years, all without any purpose other than to establish that a terrorist organization must have been in Afghanistan because there certainly was one after 2002.

SURROGATE WARFARE ON PAKISTAN

In addition to installing a government that would work directly with Israel and India to organize terrorist attacks on Pakistan, funding to destabilize the oil and gas rich republics of the former Soviet Union had to be raised.

Opium production under the Taliban had been eliminated.  The new government quickly began a resurgence of opium production and heroin processing.  Aided by agents of the Indian RAW and Israeli Mossad, the governments of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan quickly fell under the influence of the 65 billion dollar a year Afghanistan drug empire.

Though the drugs may have been from Afghanistan, multiple intelligence agencies from Israel, India, Turkey and others, aided by military contracting firms contracted to the CIA, carried this plan forward.

Continual news stories tying Pakistan to failures to suppress terrorism or rumoring involvement in terrorism themselves flowed onto the world scene through western mainstream media, providing a clear footprint of a classic Mossad operation.

NO SO "UNEXPECTED"

With the demise of Al Qaeda, an unnamed Taliban organization with a website only visible to one person on earth has now declared a mysterious and shadowy war against the United States, in New York City, a city under tight security but one with a very large Israeli/Mossad presence.

This was the same city where the "dancing Israeli's," celebrated 9/11 after filming the attacks.  Their advance knowledge of the attacks has been one of the many puzzle pieces tying Israel to 9/11.

However, it wasn't until the "crotch bomber" of last Christmas that the breadth of Israel's penetration of US security was demonstrated with Abdulmohammed's attack tying directly to Tel Aviv.

Anyone who visits New York is aware that security there, especially in Time Square is the highest of anywhere in the world.  The intelligence organizations protecting New York, including the world's best police force, leave only one organization as capable of this kind of effort, an organization with massive resources in the area, numerous Israeli/American assets and many residual relationships with Gulliani/Kerik/Bush era friends, friends conveniently "asleep at the switch" on 9/11.

TIMING

Recent intelligence leaks from several agencies have warned of an impending "9/11 style" attack on a high value target in the US and Israel.  Reports that a conventional bomb enhanced with nuclear material would be used.

With Iranian president Ahmandinejad and Secretary of State Clinton both scheduled to be in New York in the next 24 hours, and recent stories out of Israel trying to tie Iran to the Taliban, the issue of "timing" is a critical one.

ISRAEL TIES TO PAKISTAN TALIBAN WELL ESTABLISHED

The group blamed in the Site Intelligence/Israeli report, the Pakistani Taliban has been responsible for hundreds of attacks in Pakistan, killing thousands of citizens.  However, reliable sources have tied this group directly to Mossad/RAW training camps inside Afghanistan and Balochistan.  The Pakistani Taliban have long been allies of Israel and India with 2000 terrorist trainers inside Afghanistan arming Pakistani Taliban terrorist group.

This has been confirmed, not only in direct briefings with the Pakistani ISPR and ISI but US military intelligence sources as well, who dispute the number of terrorist trainers, not their presence.

Terrorist groups inside Balochistan, the remote Pakistan province said to be a haven for Mossad attacks against Iran, claim to be headquartered in Israel.  These groups work directly with the Pakistan Taliban and are another indication of this current "stunt" turning back on non-Islamic planners.

ALWAYS THE SAME, "WHO GAINS?"

With Iran taking the propaganda offensive to the United States, a nation increasingly distancing itself from, not only the idea of supporting an Israeli attack on Iran, Israel is under pressure to reestablish itself as America's partner in a long discredited "war on terror" that has been a huge embarrassment to the US.

With over 90% of America's terror arrests turning out to be innocent bystanders, some tortured for years, untold numbers "disappeared," Bush era failures have soured public support for hunting terrorist leaders who have increasingly been either captured by Pakistan or have been found to be negotiating with US forces.

With the signature of this bombing being so close to that of the "crotch bombing," an attack with Israeli fingerprints from Nigeria to Yemen to Amsterdam, the "superfast" accusation against a Pakistani group was no surprise.

ONGOING INVESTIGATION/FOX "ISRAELI ASSET" NEWS ATTACKS OBAMA

With New York police discounting the Pakistan connection to the bombing immediately, Fox News has unleashed an attack on the Obama administration in a well orchestrated manner, accusing democrats of "failing to protect the American people."

With both Site Intelligence and Fox News tied directly to Israel and the signature and timing of this attack showing clear Israeli fingerprints, Fox may be right.

America may be unable to protect itself from a nation still seen by most Americans as a close ally.  No other nation has the capability of such an attack or the influence to orchestrate the news, an act already in motion.

If any finger is pointing anywhere, Fox News is telling us "Israel did it."

New York officials say the federal government isn't providing them with enough of what they need most to head off another terror attack in the nation's largest city: cold, hard cash.  

The New York Police Department finds itself in the awkward position of having to use Saturday night's near-catastrophe -- a potentially devastating car bomb discovered in the heart of Times Square -- to appeal to the federal government for more funds.

State and local lawmakers, as well as NYPD officials, are pointing out what seems obvious -- that New York City is and continues to be a top terror target. They're trumpeting the role of police officers in defusing a bomb and investigating the scene after an SUV carrying the device was discovered Saturday night.

But New York officials appear weary of continually wrangling with the federal government -- dating back to the Bush administration -- for money to support new technology and programs aimed at stopping an attack in America's largest city and the financial capital of the world.

Asked Sunday afternoon what was stopping the NYPD from developing a critical surveillance and detection program, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly answered with a single word: "Money."

The NYPD has more officers -- about 35,000 -- than the FBI has employees. Its Counterterrorism Bureau, formed in 2002 following the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks, was the first of its kind in the nation and encompasses several programs aimed at protecting against different kinds of attacks. One unit sets up vehicle checkpoints along key roads and bridges; another works on harbor security; another researches ways to detect weapons of mass destruction; another analyzes intelligence.

In the wake of Saturday's Times Square incident, officials are drawing heightened attention to the importance of NYPD counterterror programs called the Lower Manhattan Security Initiative and the Securing the Cities Initiative. The latter is a partnership between local officials and the Department of Homeland Security to set up detection systems for nuclear and radiological weapons.

The Lower Manhattan Security Initiative is a broader city plan that starts with a massive surveillance system -- complete with security cameras, license plate readers and on-the-ground officers. Surveillance cameras, while controversial, are providing investigators with valuable images of activity around Times Square before the car bomb was discovered -- though those cameras are not yet part of the sophisticated monitoring network that city officials are trying to establish.

Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., plans to call on the Obama administration and Congress to fully fund the Securing the Cities program as well as send federal funding to New York City to expand its surveillance program into mid-town Manhattan.

Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., have already written a letter to congressional colleagues urging them to restore $20 million in next year's budget for the Securing the Cities program.

"The Obama administration has eliminated all funding for that," King told Fox News on Monday. "I'm fighting as hard as I can ... but we need to keep the fight up."

King said the program is needed to protect the perimeter of Manhattan and monitor for threats coming from the surrounding boroughs.

Kelly said Sunday that the department wants to expand the lower Manhattan security program into midtown -- where the Times Square bomb was found -- but that it is only in the planning stage.

"It takes money -- federal money is what we're looking for in this regard," he said.

He explained that the vision for the program is to have not only surveillance cameras, but "analytic software" that would set off alarms when certain suspicious activities are detected.

For instance, an alarm could go off if a bag was left unattended, or if a vehicle drove along the same block multiple times.

"This is a whole new area for us. It has a lot of promise in that regard, we're very enthusiastic about it," Kelly said.

But in an interview Sunday on CNN, Schumer said, "We need Washington to back New York up."

He touted New York's surveillance plan and echoed King's call to fight for the money.

"This incident is a reminder, we need all the help we can get," Schumer said.

King and Gillibrand wrote in their letter that more funding is needed not just to protect New Yorkers, but everyone who relies on the region's economy.

Oil Apocalypse
...And Terror Theatre in New York

According to the Associated Press, to solve the British Petroleum (BP) undersea oil disaster "depends on a low-tech strategy that has never been attempted before in deep water. The scheme: lower 74-ton, concrete-and-metal boxes into the gulf to capture the oil and siphon it to a barge waiting at the surface. Whether that will work for a leak 5,000 feet below the surface is anyone's guess; the method has previously worked only in shallower waters. If it doesn't, and efforts to activate a shutoff mechanism called a blowout preventer continue to prove fruitless, the oil probably will keep gushing for months until a second well can be dug to cut off the first."

The media and the US government are being very low key about this. Even Greenpeace and the Sierra Club are merely talking about political action of the "E-mail President Obama" type. It is almost as if a very high level directive has been issued ordering the media not to panic the population of the western hemisphere. However, if the oil continues to flow undersea, the ocean will begin to die.

This catastrophe is far beyond the capability of BP corporation. It is astonishing that international resources are not being brought into mobilization immediately. President Obama assures us that "BP will pay." That's not the point, Mr. President. BP is likely to be bankrupt if and when this catastrophe concludes. The point is not even the economic livelihood of America's southern Gulf Coast, as much as we pity all of the folks who will suffer economic deprivation because of man playing God. The point is the health of the oceans of planet earth, upon which all life is dependent.

First, we must convene a world day of prayer and penance asking Jesus Christ to intercede with His Father to work a miracle and stop the oil flow. We, in turn, will promise God to work to halt undersea oil drilling and all other idolatrous man-playing-God technologies.

Next, scientists and engineers of all the major nations of the world must convene now, along with their governments, to address the crisis and seek a way to stop the oil flow.

The United States Congress should meet in emergency session and pass a law that the corporate heads of companies that wreak environmental devastation should be subject to criminal prosecution, up to and including capital punishment. All limits on civil liability must be lifted.

First fact, the original estimate was about 5,000 gallons of oil a day spilling into the ocean. Now they're saying 200,000 gallons a day. That's over a million gallons of crude oil a week! I'm an engineer with 25 years of experience. I've worked on some big projects with big machines...First, the BP platform was drilling for what they call deep oil. They go out where the ocean is about 5,000 feet deep and drill another 30,000 feet into the crust of the earth. This it right on the edge of what human technology can do. They hit a pocket of oil at such high pressure that it burst all of their safety valves all the way up to the drilling rig and then caused the rig to explode and sink. The pressure behind this oil is so high that it destroyed the maximum effort of human science to contain it. When the rig sank it flipped over and landed on top of the drill hole. Now they've got a hole in the ocean floor.

They have to get the oil rig off the hole to get at it, in order to try to cap it. Do you know the level of effort it will take to move that wrecked oil rig, sitting under 5,000 feet of water? Then, how do you cap the hole in the ocean floor?

If we can't cap that hole, then oil is going to destroy the oceans of the world. It only takes one quart of motor oil to make 250,000 gallons of ocean water toxic to wildlife. Are you starting to get the magnitude of this?

We're so accustomed to our politicians creating false crises to forward their criminal agendas that we aren't recognizing that we're staring straight into possibly the greatest disaster mankind will ever see. Imagine what happens if that oil keeps flowing until it destroys all life in the oceans of this planet. Who knows how big a reservoir of oil is down there? It makes you wonder why this crisis is not front page, three inch headline news in every newspaper in America every day, and on television around the clock, and why President Obama and other heads of state have not gone beyond the ridiculously parochial "BP's gotta fix this" mindset and organize an emergency effort involving the planet's best minds, together with the naval resources of the world.

We do not seem to be up to the challenge our own egos have imposed on us. We assume we are gods who can drill the ocean and split the atom without apocalyptic consequences. When it all goes haywire, we spout boilerplate economic jargon and play chicken with a multi-national corporation. We have failed the mandate God has given us to be stewards of His garden.

Terror Theatre in New York

People have asked for my comment on the theatrical New York City would-be car bomb (planted in the theatre district, no less). Folks, need I comment on the obvious? We are in the era of elite nose-thumbing. They are mocking us with choreographed melodramas due to our complacent subservience to their rule. In April the University of Arizona named its telescope attachment, "Lucifer." They no longer hide their true nature and identity - they don't need to conceal it from a burned-out population. They can tell us they are Lucifer, and plant bombs in our streets, which they blame on foreign terrorists, and we stay glued to the old ball game and the new digital virtual reality, as usual.

A "bomb" that a ten year old might construct with gas cans, propane, non-explosive fertilizer and jurry-rigged alarm clocks is parked with fake license plates in Times Square. Spooky surveillance camera video displays a sinister mystery man possibly involved. Lesson: Thank God for government surveillance. Another lesson: let's keep bombing and massacring Afghan civilians in order to "fight" terrorism. Folks, you don't need a prophet to see where this heading. If we survive the oil spill, we will be in for more rule-by-fear, via black op domestic terror charades, accompanied by the gigantic unfunded government mandate known as perpetual war for perpetual peace.

The late Walter Trohan of the Chicago Tribune was my journalism mentor. Don Bolles of the Arizona Republic was my hero. Bolles was assassinated. The killer who put out the contract (Kemper Marley, John McCain's Barry Goldwater-connected patron), got away with it. Trohan, meanwhile, wouldn't find a job in today's media because investigative reporting that delves into covert government-backed terror, foreign control of the government (and the media itself), and corporate control of energy, food and pharmaceuticals, is not on the agenda. Investigative reporters end up writing a blog.

This is the book that cracked it for me about five years ago or so, funny how it's taken Fetzer this long to catch up.

It was published in January 2004 way before DBS woke up. The author is Albert D. Pastore.

Yeah, I know. Fetzer strikes me as one of those "old time" liberals who actually believed initially that the current puppet represented "change we can believe in" and has been slowly having his delusions stripped away. How can we hold it against people who desperately want to know the truth but don't have all the pieces collected together yet? I, for example, still have a long ways to go. Don't we all? The litmus test for me is whether I'm satisfied the person in question is after the truth, not whether he or she is presently in possession of all the truth. After all, none of us can make such a claim ourselves and we would be highly suspect if we did. Still, his work on the JFK cover-up is nearly unmatched and he's starting to understand that the Khazars are the problem behind all these horrific events. His reading of this book is proof of that.

Listen to the Chris Emery audio on the false flag OKC bombing if you want to have your socks blown off. I thought I had a pretty good understanding of that particular false flag but this filmmaker showed me that there was a lot I didn't know. Fetzer expresses concern for Emery's safety given what he is about to reveal when his film is released in a few months. Tomas, we are talking about Jim Fetzer here, who has been investigating 911 for God knows how long, constantly, full time. I know he got caught up in the nitty gritty of how it was done and all that and every lameass theory out there. Ok maybe he has that mental block when it comes to the jew,israHELL and zionism like so many Americans but good lord how long does it take a guy like that to get around to seeing the evidence. I think because it has become more acceptable in the past couple of years to talk about "Israel did 911" he has now looked into it. Who knows?
