Arson attack on Muhammad artist's home - Published: 15 May







Police have launched an investigation into arson after the home in southern Sweden of controversial artist Lars Vilks sustained fire damage on Friday night.

Vilks was not at his home in Nyhamnsläge at the time of the attack. An acquaintance of the artist discovered the damage on Saturday morning. Windows had been smashed, there was minor fire damage to the front of the house and plastic bottles filled with petrol were found inside the property, local newspaper Helsingborgs Dagblad reports.

Police said the house was empty and the fire had dissipated of its own accord. A forensic examination was carried out on Saturday morning.

"We've launched a preliminary investigation into arson," police spokeswoman Sofie Österheim told news agency TT.

The embattled artist, who was physically attacked at a lecture theatre in Uppsala earlier in the week, said he was now considering moving from his home.

"I don't think I can live here full time. It's obvious this is a high risk area. I guess I'll just be here at certain times," Vilks told TT.

The artist left the house at 10.30pm on Friday and was not aware of the damage until the morning.

"It wasn't all that bad from a purely material perspective. They've broken window panes and set fire to a curtain by sticking a hand through a window," said Vilks.

"It's not so pleasant but I've become hardened. I get threats all the time but it's hard to assess what's behind it."

In this case, Vilks believed the perpetrators were amateurs.

"These are the kind of people who drive off with some petrol and try to start a fire. But one thing can lead to another."

Vilks has had a $100,000 bounty on his head from an Al-Qaeda-linked group since the publication of his drawing of the Muslim prophet Muhammad as a dog in 2007.

I want to point out something that I've noticed regarding subversive jews. There's this tendency of wearing those obnoxious solid black framed glasses like this agitator Lars is wearing. I actually think that these are being used as subtle, yet overt flags for others like them so they can more readily identify each other. Clearly, not every one who sports these frames is a subversive; however, I think if people start paying attention to it, that they will notice a large portion of these scoundrels do have such frames.

This guy is no doubt some sort of paid agitator. GD these assholes.

EDIT: The picture of that guy harris with Tucker should be made note of. The facial features and expressions he exhibits in that single picture exemplify a liar. Others should maybe save that pic to a folder or something to help with identifying the muscles used by liars. It makes it real easy to gauge internally what's going on with a person, especially if they are discussing something controversial which you don't have much info on. You can rely upon those facial expressions to know that the person is probably lying and then you can keep that in mind as you research the issue.

Two men arrested over fire at Vilks' house - 16 May 2010





Two men, aged 19 and 21, have been arrested in connection with an arson attack at the home in southern Sweden of artist Lars Vilks.

The 21-year-old was arrested late on Saturday at his home in Landskrona, 40 kilometres from the house where Vilks lives. He is being held on suspicion of aggravated attempted arson.

A police spokesman said he was detained after personal items were found near Vilks' house in the village of Nyhamnsläge, which was slightly damaged in the attack overnight Friday.

"He is of Swedish nationality but originally from Kosovo ... He was unknown to the police so far," Scania district police spokesman Calle Pärsson told AFP.

The suspect whose name was not made public "is still being detained and expected to see a judge to decide whether or not he will be charged, possibly
tomorrow" (Monday), said Pärsson.

The 19-year-old was arrested in Helsingborg on Sunday morning and is suspected of attempted arson. He does not have a previous criminal record.

Vilks was not at his home in Nyhamnsläge at the time of the attack in the early hours of Saturday morning.

An acquaintance of the artist discovered the damage on Saturday morning. Windows had been smashed, there was minor fire damage to the front of the house and plastic bottles filled with petrol were found inside the property.

Vilks told AFP he did not want to over-react to the attack but would take some precautions.

"I'll have to have a hide away for some time, which I think is reasonable... I can probably go in the house during daytime, but I'll have to sleep somewhere else.

"We have to see if it's possible to install an alarm or something.... I shouldn't be paranoid. This could be a one-time occasion," he added.

In 2007, Swedish regional daily Nerikes Allehanda published Vilks' satirical cartoon to illustrate an editorial on the importance of freedom of expression.

The cartoon prompted protests by Muslims in the town of Örebro in central Sweden where the newspaper is based, while Egypt, Iran and Pakistan made formal complaints.

Vilks has had a $100,000 bounty on his head from an Al-Qaeda-linked group since the publication of his drawing of the Muslim prophet Muhammad as a dog in 2007.

In March, an American woman known as "Jihad Jane" was charged by US authorities with conspiring to kill Vilks after seven suspected co-plotters were arrested in Ireland.

On Tuesday, the artist was head-butted in the chest as he gave a talk at a lecture theatre at Uppsala University.
