The Roman Catholic Church has long sought to be the supreme and final authority in all Christendom.  It has come one step closer by apparently co-opting the authority of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholemew, who is the head of the Greek Orthodox Church, and in honor the primary voice of the world's 300 million Eastern Orthodox Christians.

A short exposition of method:

The official statement (i.e."we have no other alternative" @ 2:33m):

The main objection:

Christopher Marlowe

The Catholic Church is the one true Church that was founded by Jesus Christ.
Francis is a heretic that seems to be trying to destroy the Church.
The Lutheran Satire guy is hysterical. I've seen all his vids.
The word "lucifer" in Latin does not always mean Lucifer, the Devil.  Protestants are always getting their panties in a bunch over Latin phrases because they don't know Latin.

When the Church was founded, there was an empire called "Rome".  The Roman people spoke a language called "Latin".  The word for "day star" in Latin is "lucifer".  When people in Rome said, "lucifer", they were not referring to the devil.  Back in the early Roman days, those people were pagans, and they worshiped all kinds of pagan gods.  They didn't talk about "lucifer" as a devil god, and that concept would have been foreign to them.

The first Bibles were compiled by the Catholic Church, and the Latin vulgate as we know it was put together by St Jerome in the 4th century.  The first book that was mass produced was the Gutenberg Bible: that was a latin vulgate Bible.  In the latin vulgate Bible, the word day star is used twice:2 Pet 1:19; and Job 11:17.  The word "Lucifer", as a proper noun, is used once at Isaiah 14:12.  In Isaiah the prophet is referring to the king of Babylon, but many understand it to be referring to the fall of Satan, who was the highest angel before he rebelled against God.

In the video above, the cantor is singing the exsultet, which is sung at every Easter vigil Mass.  The exsultet does not refer to Satan, but to Jesus Christ, as the bright morning star:

Oramus ergo te, Domine, ut cereus iste in honorem tui nominis consecratus, ad noctis huius caliginem destruendam, indeficiens perseveret. Et in odorem suavitatis acceptus, supernis luminaribus misceatur. Flammas eius lucifer matutinus inveniat: Ille, inquam, lucifer, qui nescit occasum: Christus Filius tuus, qui regressus ab inferis, humano generi serenus illuxit, et vivit et regnat in saecula saeculorum.

We beseech thee therefore, O Lord, that this candle, consecrated to the honor of thy name, may continue burning to dissipate the darkness this night. And being accepted as a sweet savor, may be united with the celestial lights. Let the morning star find it alight, that star which never sets: Christ Thy Son, who came back from hell, and shone with brightness on mankind, and who liveth and reigneth for ever and ever.

In the novus ordo Catholic Church, nearly all of the once pure and holy orders have fallen into disorder and sin.  The Dominican order sent a priest to our parish to give a week long retreat to all of the priests in the diocese.  Do you know what he discussed? The good qualities of homosexuality.  I am not making this up.  Every priest in the diocese had to go listen to this faggot priest lecture for a whole week on the joys of sodomy.

To me, that is of the devil.  I don't need to misinterpret ancient latin texts to find evil.  Using a Church to tell people that sodomy is a good thing is EVIL.  Period.

The Jesuits have likewise fallen into disorder.  Not all of them are bad certainly.  There are still some very fine Jesuit priests, but the Jesuit order has become infected with faggots.  As has the Franciscan order, and the Dominican order, etc...  The whole pederasty scandal was a huge wake up call that the Church has become infected with faggotry.

Now the Jesuit Francis et al are trying to normalize faggotry.  Last year they held a "synod on the family", where they attempted to create an official pastoral document which would change Catholic tradition to say that it was proper to give communion to practicing homosexuals.  The majority of the bishops actually voted FOR the document, but it did not have the 2/3 approval that was necessary.  They are going to have another synod this year to try again.  God help us.

Pope Francis had already approved of the working document that was ultimately rejected by more than 1/3 of the bishops, so we can see where he stands.  They should not even be having this synod. This should not even be debated. It is evil.

So one does not need to bad protestant translations of Latin rites to say that Francis is a spooky, evil man.  His own words condemn him.

Thanks for the clarification, Marlowe.  Shocking to hear about the Dominican Order's decline.
"Certainly the Protocols are a forgery, and that is the one proof we have of their authenticity. The Jews have worked with forged documents for the past 24 hundred years, namely ever since they have had any documents whatsoever." - Ezra Pound

Dear Marlowe,

I find the Latin usage here perplexing.  I do not consider the issue clarified away.  The reason why is that your saying, "The exsultet does not refer to Satan, but to Jesus Christ, as the bright morning star," does not make the issue of the use of "Lucifer" during the mass any less troubling.  What you mean is that the exultset refers to Jesus Christ as Lucifer.

You say,"The first Bibles were compiled by the Catholic Church, and the Latin vulgate as we know it was put together by St Jerome in the 4th century."  Then, presumably, Jerome's own writings might shed light on how he understood the issue.
Let's consult the Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers, vol. VI:

Jerome's Letter XXII. To Eustochium:

Quote4. So long as we are held down by this frail body, so long as we have our treasure in earthen vessels; so long as the flesh lusteth against the spirit and the spirit against the flesh, there can be no sure victory. "Our adversary the devil goeth about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour."  "Thou makest darkness," David says, "and it is night: wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth. The young lions roar after their prey and seek their meat from God."  The devil looks not for unbelievers, for those who are without, whose flesh the Assyrian king roasted in the furnace.  It is the church of Christ that he "makes haste to spoil."  According to Habakkuk, "His food is of the choicest."  A Job is the victim of his machinations, and after devouring Judas he seeks power to sift the [other] apostles.  The Saviour came not to send peace upon the earth but a sword. Lucifer fell, Lucifer who used to rise at dawn;  and he who was bred up in a paradise of delight had the well-earned sentence passed upon him, "Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the Lord."  For he had said in his heart, "I will exalt my throne above the stars of God," and "I will be like the Most High."  Wherefore God says p. 24 every day to the angels, as they descend the ladder that Jacob saw in his dream,  "I have said ye are Gods and all of you are children of the Most High. But ye shall die like men and fall like one of the princes."  The devil fell first, and since "God standeth in the congregation of the Gods and judgeth among the Gods,"  the apostle writes to those who are ceasing to be Gods—"Whereas there is among you envying and strife, are ye not carnal and walk as men?"

Is it in fact necessary for the Roman Catholic Church to use the term "Lucifer" to glorify God? I think you will agree that there is no need to chant such "dual-use" praises, such theological double-entendre

What is more, there is a real link between the teaching of homosexuality by the Roman Church and the worship of Lucifer.

QuoteNihilism And Satanic Inversion

...

Though apostates and the apostatizing professed themselves wise, their cognitive thought processes would become darkened (vain) and with their conscience dead to sin they would become fools, meaning they would accept and publicly profess incredibly stupid conceptions of themselves (i.e., man is an evolved worm, ape or robot; man is evolving into god).

"And I will give children to be their princes, and the effeminate shall rule over them." Isaiah 3:4

In turning away from the Spirit of God and the truth He has given, 'wise' males will become effeminate cowards and females mannish.  They will be adolescent emotional-tyrants in adult-size bodies: sinister, greedy, spiteful, vindictive, treacherous, back-stabbing sophists.  They will celebrate Lucifer (the devil) and in their madness actively seek the way of Luciferian initiation because they will be spiritually blind in regard to total reality.  Like demons they will flee from the cross of Jesus but exalt the devil as the first free thinker, the genetic creator of man, the seething energy and angel of evolution.  Truth will be lies, evil will be good, unfaithfulness will be faith and the 'wise' will preach and blaspheme from pulpits, exercise political power, enact legislation, and wield broken law to plunder, punish, and ruin.

Zarathustra has been right on both counts.  First, apostatizing W. Europe and America, though dotted here and there by small islands of Light, decency and sanity, are becoming darkened, satanically inverted places ruled by the 'wise,' hence boiling over with madness, particularly Hollywood, academia, mainstream media and the highest, most powerful political offices in the land.   Second, Nietzsche was made to show the 'wise' what is in store for them by spending the last eleven years of his life insane.

Of course, what I seek is authentic unity in the Church, and not a sectarian dialogue criticizing minor issues.  I hope you will take this in the spirit of brotherhood.

QuoteWhat you mean is that the exultset refers to Jesus Christ as Lucifer.
If you drop the capital "L" then this might be correct.
Look at Revelation 22:16: "I Jesus have sent my angel, to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the root and stock of David, the bright and morning star."
Jesus refers to himself as the "morning star".  Of course, He is not literally the star, but He is saying that the star symbolizes Him.

I started my comments with the fact that Latin was spoken by the Roman people. The word "lucifer" referred to the daystar, or morning star, or "light bearer" before there was any association with "Lucifer" with the capital "L" - the devil.  Surely you can see that "lucifer" is derivative of the latin "lux", which means light?  Look at other words that have the same origin: lumens, illuminate. Even after the Bible was written in Latin, by St Jerome, the Latin "lucifer" was still used to mean "day star".  In other words, St. Jerome was fully capable of writing "lucifer" and understanding it to mean "day star" and not "satan".  I referred to the text from Isaiah where this connotation to the devil first originated.  Before the Bible was written in Latin, the Roman people did not speak of the devil as "Lucifer".  Do you see?  That is a concept that is only brought by a Christian understanding of the NAME "Lucifer", and not by the word itself.

The word "lucifer" means "day star". So if a Latin translation is made of "day star", then the word used will be "lucifer".  Here is the King James version of 2 Peter 1:19 "We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:"

The "day star" here is referring to Jesus.  St Jerome translated this: "Et habemus firmiorem propheticum sermonem: cui benefacitis attendentes quasi lucernae lucenti in caliginoso donec dies elucescat, et lucifer oriatur in cordibus vestris:"  Surely St Jerome was not saying that "Lucifer" (with the capital "L") would arise in our hearts?

Perhaps this illustration becomes more clear when we see different use of the same word.  In addition to the citations I already gave, the Vulgate also has a version of "lucifer" - "luciferum":

Job 38:32 - "Canst thou bring forth the day star in its time, and make the evening star to rise upon the children of the earth?
Numquid producis luciferum in tempore suo, et vesperum super filios terrae consurgere facis?"

Psalm 109:3 - With thee is the principality in the day of thy strength: in the brightness of the saints: from the womb before the day star I begot thee.

"Tecum principium in die virtutis tuae in splendoribus sanctorum; ex utero, ante luciferum, genui te."

Looking at your citation from St Jerome, we can see that Lucifer is referring to how satan fell from his former glory.  this is a warning that all people can be tempted into sin, and to fall into damnation.  We are not guaranteed a spot in heaven, but rather, we must always strive to stay with Jesus - (Phil 2:12 - "Wherefore, my dearly beloved, (as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but much more now in my absence,) with fear and trembling work out your salvation.")

Quote4. The passage here is warning that everyone is being sifted, and that if we do not cling to Christ we will be dragged down to hell.  The lesson about Lucifer, which is also the same from Isaiah, and which is the cited reference here. (364 Isa. xiv. 12.) Lucifer used to rise at dawn.  He used to be a glorious angel, and now he is forever cast out of heaven.  Lucifer sought to place himself above God and now has been rightfully judged.  So too will those Christians be judged who cease to act like Christ, but instead resort to their own carnal desires, and walk like men.

This interpretation jibes with the original understanding of "Lucifer":
QuoteSt. Jerome agrees with them (In Isaiah 1:14), and makes Lucifer the name of the principal fallen angel who must lament the loss of his  original glory bright as the morning star. In Christian tradition this meaning of Lucifer has prevailed; the Fathers maintain that Lucifer is not the proper name of  the devil, but denotes only the state from which he has
fallen

As for that last bit:
Quote"And I will give children to be their princes, and the effeminate shall rule over them." Isaiah 3:4
I am in complete agreement.  This is exactly the state of Rome, and the United States, Great Britain, Canada, etc... Faggots everywhere.  Obama is probably a big fag.  English PMs: Fags. A lot of Bishops and priests: faggots.  This is the punishment for our sins.  The nations have sinned because we have acted like materialistic Jews and have forgotten the laws of God.

Rome sinned at Vatican II, and has abandoned the true Catholic faith. The punishment is obvious: from the time of Vatican II we have the pederasty scandal, a sharp decline in vocations, and in Mass attendance.  But the most glaring result is the rise in homosexuality in the priesthood. The effeminate are ruling over most of the orders, and they have a strong foothold in the Roman curia.  Of course these degenerates will turn to devil worship because their minds have lost the ability to reason, and they cannot discern light from dark.  The modernist mind blends everything to grey.
