Israel Confirms Donald Trump Meeting With Benjamin Netanyahu

QuoteJERUSALEM — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to meet with Donald J. Trump on Dec. 28 in Jerusalem, according to a senior Israeli official who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Word of the visit comes amid a furor over Mr. Trump's statement that he wants to ban Muslims from entering the United States until the nation's leaders can "figure out what is going on" after the terrorist attacks in San Bernardino, Calif.

Mr. Trump posted on Twitter on Tuesday his plans to visit Israel.

The Israeli official who confirmed the meeting with Mr. Netanyahu said that it had been set up two weeks ago, and that he did not know how long Mr. Trump would be in the country.

Several Jewish lawmakers from left-leaning opposition parties said Mr. Netanyahu should cancel the meeting.

"It's unacceptable to me that a person who openly expresses racist opinions — and it does not matter if he is a candidate in the American elections or a regular person — will be welcomed by any Israeli official, whether in the Parliament or the prime minister or the head of the opposition," Omar Bar Lev of the Zionist Union said in a radio interview.

If this were true, how could they ever conduct any business in parliament? That whole country is one steaming pile of racism.

And just what does "racism" mean anyway?  Isn't Trump talking about Muslims?  The last I checked, Muslims are NOT a race.

Trump is obviously the US arm of the Likud party.  Going to Jewtopia to get instructions from the head demon.  ResilverJ says that this latest Trump comment proves that Trump is running interference for Shillery.

The comment about doing something about the internet is troubling considering that Hillary basically said the exact same thing as the exact same time. I highly doubt though that Trump would be trying to shut down free speech on the internet considering how much Trump has utilized it.

And now this; he's cancelled his trip to Israhell! Whoa. What could that be all about? Maybe his handlers told him that it was a security threat to go at this time?

Just a bit of politics, Maz.  They'll just let things cool down a bit, and they'll have their meeting later; or, they will meet in secret, or through emissaries.

Or, if the Mooosssslllluuummm bashing continues to work for Trump, no meeting will be required, as the public meeting was just for politics - let's Trump show his love of Israhell, to get support in the US - and the meeting won't even be necessary, if Trump's lead continues to grow, due to his Mooossssllluumm bashing.

Jews pretending to be offended by Trump's anti-Mooossssllluuum talk.   <:^0  <lol>

QuoteIn Israel, politicians from the left and right, as well as Israeli Arabs, condemned the remarks, saying Trump should be banned.

Omer Bar-Lev of the main center-left opposition party, the Zionist Union, branded Trump a "racist" on Twitter.

Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz told an Israeli radio station Trump's comments amounted to "ostracism" of Muslims.

"I recommend fighting terrorist and extremist Islam, but I would not declare a boycott of, ostracism against or war on Muslims in general," he said.

Prime Minister Netanyahu also rejected the comments.

"The prime minister rejects the recent comments by Donald Trump with regard to Muslims. Israel respects all religions and diligently guards the rights of its citizens," a statement from Netanyahu's office said.

As Outcry Over Racist Rhetoric Grows, Trump Scraps Trip To Israel

WASHINGTON — Republican Donald Trump has scrapped a planned trip to Israel, saying he will reschedule "at a later date after I become President of the U.S."

Trump tweeted Thursday that he is postponing the trip, which had become problematic for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Viewed as a Republican Party supporter, Netanyahu faced calls to cancel the visit, planned for Dec. 28, after Trump called for keeping Muslims from entering the U.S. and made controversial comments to a Jewish group.

Trump told Fox News there were many reasons he decided to hold off on a trip, among them that he didn't want to put Netanyahu in a bind. "In fact, I did a campaign ad for him, and he's a good man, but I didn't want to put him under pressure," Trump said.

"You know, he said, 'We have a meeting,' and he looks forward to the meeting and all of that. But I didn't want to put him under pressure, No. 1. I also did it because I'm in the midst of a very powerful campaign that's going very well and it was not that easy to do. So I would say lots of different reasons," Trump said.

Trump has the GOP in turmoil over his call for a temporary ban on Muslims entering the U.S. following last week's mass shooting by an Islamic militant couple that killed 14 people in San Bernardino, California. Netanyahu's office had said in a statement issued Wednesday that he rejects Trump's comments about Muslims but planned to move forward with the meeting with Trump.

In the statement, Netanyahu's office said Israel "respects all religions and strictly guarantees the rights of all its citizens."

"At the same time, Israel is fighting against militant Islam that targets Muslims, Christians and Jews alike and threatens the entire world," the statement said.

The GOP presidential candidate, who has maintained a wide lead in most early polling, sparked criticism among many American Jews last week after speaking to a gathering of Jewish donors. He was booed after refusing to endorse Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel. The United States, like most of the international community, refuses to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital and says the city's status must be resolved in negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.

Trump also made remarks that some said promoted Jewish stereotypes. "I know why you're not going to support me: you're not going to support me because I don't want your money," Trump said. "You want to control your own politician." He also said, "I'm a negotiator, like you folks."
